A Guide to Custom Text (Patreon)
Content
I often create content that allows others to add their own text, so I thought it may be helpful to add a quick guide to help those who haven't used the text tool in their slicer before, and have this as a guide to refer back to. I always provide the .3mf when I release content. I always used Bambu Studios, but the principle of how this works should be transferable to other programs; it's just the menus might be a little different. Also, I'll save this post to the "Information" Collection, so it will be easy to refer back to
Locate the “text_shape” on the left-hand panel. Selecting it will highlight it in Blue and means you now have it selected.
Click the “Ta” Icon on the upper panel. If you don't have the “text_shape” selected, it will create a new text shape. This will bring up a new window with options to edit.
The options I tend to edit here are the Input Text - Type your own textFont- Choose from the ones in the dropdown, or install your own font.Size - Once you have selected a font, you might need to play around with the size to make it fit on the plaque.Thickness – How far you want the text to stick out.Text Gap – The spacing between the letters.
Adding your own Font.
For legal reasons, I can't supply the font file I used, because that's someone else's property, but I am happy to share the name of the font with i post my designs so you can download it yourself, but there are also plenty of free fonts available., just check the licencing agreements if you are looking to sell.I subscribe to creativefabrica.com they have loads of great fonts, and most are available for commercial use.Once you have downloaded your chosen font, you will need to open the .zip file and double click the file, and click install. This will add the font to your existing library of fonts. You may need to restart Bambu Labs before the new font shows up in the list. Once correctly installed it will show up with a preview. Fonts are listed alphabetically.
If I've forgotten anything or if anyone wants anything further explained, let me know, and I can add it to this post.Hope this helps!!
