Doctor Who Season 9 Ep 12 WATCHALONG

The TARDIS’s design is actually very old version called the SIDRAT, in TARDIS backwards. Only difference is… it can’t change appearance like the TARDIS does.

As Clara's Tardis was a replica of Hartnells Tardis Capaldi went back to watch some first Doctor episodes to learn what switches did what. I like that.

You commented on the general being up and ready to go right after regeneration. That actually seems to be the norm for Time Lords. The Doctor's always seemed pretty bad at it. Other Time Lords have been able to regenerate at will and even control the appearance of their new body. The Master was ready to go the second he stopped being Yana, remember? Even River was able to shift her age gradually of her own free will.

The doctor really is that friend that would go to hell for you then spend 4 billion years breaking out by punching through a wall made of diamond

For me the way I understand 12 and Clara’s relationship is similar to the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. Orpheus travels to the underworld to bring Eurydice back from death - just like Twelve tears apart reality and time itself to save Clara from dying. He even forgets “her” again, much like Orpheus loses Eurydice again.

"Tomorrow is promised to no-one, Doctor, but I insist upon my past. I am entitled to that." and "Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame" are two of my favourite Doctor Who quotes and they both come from this same era.

Jack Mingle

Season 5 Doctor: "We're all stories in the end" Clara: "Maybe sometimes they become songs." 12th Doctor: "That'd be nice"

Martin

Who knew this season was all about Syntell trying to bring back the Sonic Screwdriver! And he did it! The reaction at the end when it popped back up was so funny lol

Sam Evans

This new sonic screwdriver is my absolute favourite

this episode got a lot of flack at the time. But I have always loved it. i think it was the perfect end to the season and to Clara and the Doctor's relationship.

Maisie Williams was already at season 5 of GoT when this aired.
