Love this send off to my favourite Doctor. Peter Capaldi was simply incredible. Going back through his IMDb was a real treat. I also want to thank you both for reacting to Who for us. You guys are a gift to the community. The attention and respect you give to this show is unmatched. Laugh hard, run fast, be kind. Perfect send off.

Nice vidéos, as always :-) And there's the 13th Doctor of Jodie Whittaker, as seen in The Reality War :-)

Tenant -“I don’t wanna go!” Capaldi - “I let you go”

Love this special but I think it unfairly depicts 1 as a sexist he never went that far deep. Great performance but for people that haven't seen classic doesn't give him the best impression. Outside of that amazing special

I don't see why you won't love Jodie's era, as someone who watched it as a child and every era since I found plenty to love during her era so your approach is absolutely right, go in it for yourself, may be your best, may be your worst, but it's for you to watch and find out, hope you enjoy it :)

There's a show on Amazon Prime called The Devils Hour, Peter Capaldi stars in it, now you've finished his era I highly recommend it!

For some reason they chose to write Jodie's doctor as a bit of a sociopath. There is a total lack of empathy for all the characters that die and she shows zero f's for the welfare of the companions who quite often just wonder off. There is a cruelty that creeps into the narrative that persists even to today in 15s story's.

Jenna unfortunately was tide up with filming Victoria when TUAT was fimed. She had to film her scene in front of a green screen months later.

Whilst I can’t find myself disagreeing with you, we have to let them make their own minds up. I don’t think hyping up OR putting down coming episodes is ever helpful, and it’s a conversation they can’t contribute to yet, so you’re sort of just throwing things at them and waiting for agreement. I’m not a fan of *certain choices* either, but I’m at least interested to see if my perspective develops on a proper rewatch with these two!

Colin Bayley

I understand what your saying but I've kept away from talking about characters or individual plots. I've tried to stick to general editorial themes. I personally think you could 13 played by a male actor and you would hardly have to change the scripts. I do have a beef with Chibnall because I think he stabbed the show in the back. I don't think Syntell gets that deeply involved that outside outside comment will infect his opinion and Rekkia calls anything he doesn't agree with as either being racism or sexism. But he is American and I don't expect any more from him. The one good thing about this era is that because of the general dislike of it people who had left during Capaldi's run went back and watched them for the first time. Gaining new fans for his time.

This was Steven Moffatt's final bow and wow was it good. I don't know if Doctor Who will ever reach this level again. I thank you guys for all the reactions, deep dives, and humor you bring to the community.

Joe Cleveland

I couldn't disagree more. I don't even know what show you're watching.

Joe Cleveland

I agree. If you actually follow the First Doctor through all his stories, he's quite different from that. Actually, the “arc” of the 1st Doctor from ornery and concerned really only about himself, to someone who is playful, mischievous and feels a responsibility to fight evil — it’s kind of remarkable. (Is that spoilers?)

Joe Cleveland

I appreciate your commitment to go forward with open minds and hearts to the next era. So many seem to be so invested in hating 13's era. But for lots of others of us, 13 is beloved.

Colin Bayley

I can't understand why people watch a show that used to have 10 million viewers and is now cancelled and are at a loss as to why this is the case. Something is different. Are people that blind that they are dumbfounded by the differences.

Joe Cleveland

No show has 10 million viewers any more, thanks to streaming. When you put a “show” out these days, it isn’t just competing with the shows on the other channels being broadcast at the same time. Now, a show competes against nearly every show or movie that has ever been made. It’s the same in the music industry. Current musicians are just competing for radio air time with each other —If your music is on Spotify or Apple Music, it’s competing for attention with all of the music available on Spotify or Apple Music. To be in a “creative” industry and able to make a living — everything is different now.

Colin Bayley

Which ever way you want to look at it the show has declined In viewership for several years now. There has to be reasons for this. Nuking cannon and making the show a lecture vehicle at the expense of plot has to be looked at as at least part of the reason for the decline. There was a time when people could have drastically different opinions and not want the other person destroyed. Dr Who is currently cancelled. It failed to get enough viewer's to continue. Exploring the reasons why is not supposed to be a call to arms. I've already stated that having a female lead didn't have that big a difference internally because apart from the odd cringey line a male 13 would say the same things. The bottom line is that the show has failed. Why is that?

Waiting on the new era

tonright

You mentioned how this felt like a Finale.2 and it pretty much was. IIRC Moffat originally expected to go out on The Doctor Falls and take his Doctor and his companion with him. Doctor Who's Christmas day prime time TV slot was something they had to try very hard to keep. When Moffat learned that the incoming showrunner didn't have one planned he was like "Oh. I'll do that so they can keep the slot then". I didn't dislike this episode at all. It was an interesting story and was visually quite good looking too, but it does make the finale feel less... final. I almost wish they didn't do it and had sacrificed their Christmas slot.

This episode always gets me! 12 is my doctor and it only took until after the second watch through of his tenure to understand why he is the one to have portrayed what my dr should be like. Nonetheless I write this to say.. long time fan of the channel and I hope HOPE that after we finish Doctor Who you watch Torchwood Not sure if anyone has recommended it as of yet but I would so highly
