Brothers: Jackie Tito Jermaine Marlon Michael Randy Sisters: Reby LaToya Janet

Jeff Darensbourg

Great Reaction Amber! A few things: 1. Janet Jackson and youngest brother Randy Jackson both declined to be dramatized in the movie, as well as Diana Ross. 2. The Jackson Brothers are: Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Jermaine, Michael, and Randy. The Jackson girls: Rebbie, LaToya, and Janet. 3. You’ll need to react to some Michael Jackson full albums! Might as well start with ‘Off the Wall!’

Jeff Darensbourg

Oh yeah….the actress portraying Katherine Jackson is Nia Long. You should recognize her from ‘The Fresh Prince’ ‘Boyz in the Hood’ and ‘Friday.’ To keep your ‘Black Card’ in good standing, you’ll need to watch ‘Love Jones’ and ‘The Best Man’ sometime this year (Nia is in these as well.)

CHRISXGAMESALOT

The pepsi incident is what began his pain killers addiction. And what ultimately led to his death. There's other factors but it is a major change in his life and yes we blame Joe

James Parker

Not sure if you’ve watched the Jacksons an American Dream or The New Edition Story but I highly recommend those love, keep up the great work per usual 😌

Thomas McGlinchey

Jeff, She gotta watch Poetic Justice to see Janet rock the silver screen lol And she gotta react to some of Michael and Janet’s concert films (HIStory from Budapest for Michael and Hawaii for Janet)

Jayce

Yes! I've been wanting to see this! I saw the trailer when I went to see the new Elvis movie a few months ago. That's another one you have to see! EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert! It's all Elvis!!

Vanessa Hand

Michael was 2 years older than me, I grew up with his life and music. There was no such thing as child abuse then; I was raised the same. Other kids singers were the Osmonds, and the Partridge family. Jackson 5 and later Michael broke racial barriers for music. This movie has felt the most authentic of any I've seen about him.

Elizabeth Franco

Joe was a monster,an abusive jerk and cheater. Control freak a taskmaster who pushed his sons to success but was jealous of them at the same time

Elizabeth Franco

9 kids same as the Osmonds . He and Donny met in 1972 at 13 and 14 became good friends. Both families became friends and Joe hated that.

Rowan Figueroa

At the core, Michael was a student. Of film, music, dance.... he soaked everything in like sponge and then reinvented it. He didn't do it alone. That's where the movie missteps. He used choreographers, they collaborated together. His socks and glove were white, to draw the eye to the light, which as the ever hungry student, he got from Fred Astaire. He had razor precision but that came from some damn hard work. He was a perfectionist so that was a hell of a lot of work that my brain can't wrap around. This man could isolate single muscles in his body and use them to enhance whatever he was highlighting. Joseph was evil. Period. I agree with you Amber. He was at peak looks during the Off The Wall era. As someone that watched him change slowly in real time, I'm not gonna lie. It was jarring. It was also tragic. He dissappeared after concerts to work on his next album and come back looking totally different. I was honestly never attracted to him after Thriller. When Dangerous came out in 91 his appearance shocked me to MY core. I never stopped loving his music. If we're honest about what storm he left during the 80s and 90s, the stories WERE crazy. It was a very weird time. This is coming from the girl who damn near fainted at home watching him accept all the Grammy's for Thriller. He took his sunglasses off and I lost it. I still admire him, I still think he was THE King of Pop. He was also a walking tragedy that broke my heart in a million pieces. He never stood a chance. Not with how he was raised and then had nothing but yes men around him at the end. I'm just happy we had him for what small amount of time we had him.

Elizabeth Franco

I got the Off the Wall album for my 11th birthday

James Caroline

Ok you now have to do a deep dive into the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson’s albums

Elizabeth Franco

Jermaine was married to Hazel Gordy Barry Gordy’s daughter

Taraka Lynn

There still groups that debut children especially from the Kpop industry you can see where they took heavy inspo from MJ and how his father trained him and his brothers, and use almost a similar format they start them young and put them in dorms very very young and train them for years practicing long hours of dancing and singing and media training

Elizabeth Franco

Yes please do both Off the Wall and Thriller

Ashleigh

Another good film to watch is The Jacksons: An American Dream (1992). It focuses on the entire Jackson family

Elizabeth Franco

Jafar , Uncle Michael would have been proud.

MadIcelander

Amber - When you said "Wait, what songs are all on this album?" .....tells me you just don't know 'Thriller". There's not a single bad song on the entire album and also includes a duet with Paul McCartney(and no, it's not say say say which you've heard). Amber, you MUST do a full album listen and stop cheating yourself of one of the greatest albums of all time. :)

Elizabeth Franco

Apparently this how the drug addiction occurred that ultimately led to his death .

Elizabeth Franco

Yes I remember we those of us of a certain age definitely remember. Yes it was all over the news and MTV

Elizabeth Franco

The lady next to his mom was Latoya one of his three sisters.

Anthony Caples

The Jacksons all could have benefited from some mental health intervention. Michael influenced Latoya and Janet into getting nose jobs as well. Their original faces were beautiful. Very sad.

Anthony Caples

Jermaine’s had a great solo career, lots of hits over the years. Jermaine had married Berry Gordy’s daughter, so he felt loyalty to stay with Motown when the rest of them left.

Anthony Caples

I can’t tell you how many of my Gen X friends are obsessed with this film. I know that it hits on all the nostalgia and emotions because the time period covers our childhood and teenage years. With the film ending before the first round of allegations in the early 90’s it is a huge slice of escapism.

sb

Michael actually had 4 solo albums before age 18. He had a few hit singles off them.. "Off The Wall" was his 1st solo album as an adult.

Thomas McGlinchey

Could not imagine being Jaafar and being in that family and having all of Michael’s prized possessions to thumb over for inspiration and to rehearse just like Michael did all those years ago. The treasure trove of insight he got into his uncle through being born into the legacy is wild to think. Seeing things that built into the iconic records that Michael would go on to create.

Thomas McGlinchey

Thriller: Wanna Be Startin Somethin’ Baby Be Mine The Girl is Mine (ft. Paul McCartney) Thriller Beat It Billie Jean Human Nature PYT (Pretty Young Thing) The Lady in My Life

Jason Kennebrew

Doc Amber Brown, trying to go to the future to watch Michael 2: Electric Boogaloo! You cheating, Amber! You gotta wait like everybody else!

Thomas McGlinchey

Glad they gave Sheryl Crow a little moment on the Bad Tour ending… the guitarist with the bleach blonde hair. To know she started her career as a guitarist for Michael is incredible.

Steven Costa

I should have looked at the year. I thought it was the 1993 movie Michael starring John Travolta. Unlike many people, I am not a Michael Jackson fan. Have a great night and enjoy the movie. I'm half way through season 3 of True Blood, I'll continue working on that.

SK Ellis

This is a rewatch for me, my first was at the theatre in IMAX and still hoping for some special releases over the course of 2026 just to experience it like that again. So my entry point as an MJ fan was the Dangerous era; I was around 4 or 5. I grew up during the last decade of his career where he recorded and released albums. The biopic has had me revisiting moments in time when I looked forward to any new songs, short films, award show appearances, and of course live performances. The 90s were such a complicated time period because I was too young to really be able to process all of the splashy tabloid news on TV/newsstands, and I didn't know so much of the backstory that led to the changes in MJ's physical appearance, and the general public was constantly being bombarded. I could only grasp the music. Everything else fell outside my realm of understanding. I'm happy that this has come at a time where I'm well into adulthood, I'm a parent, and I've lived some life. There's a lot of nuance to MJ's story that I missed out on and it made me really emotional the first watch, and has continued to as I've been diving deeper into his discography. Like you said, Jaafar was fantastic. He worked his ass off, for years! Great reaction.

Mister Lou

"Yes, I said his name with distain, how else do you say Jo Jackson's name?!" Bars! Its only funny because its true!

sb

Jermaine stayed on Motown because he married Berry Gordy's daughter. He had the 3rd most successful solo career of the 9 siblings after Michael and Janet. Then Latoya, then Reebie who is the 1st born sibling. Then Randy, then Marlon, then Jackie, then Tito who released his 1st solo project, "Tito Time" at age 63 in 2016.

Thomas McGlinchey

Rowan, What is the craziest, if you followed his story and his allure, is that he knew what he was doing becoming a recluse. If you haven’t check out Lisa Marie’s interview with Oprah about a year+ after his death and she uses that time to make it the only time she was gonna discuss their relationship. She talks about how he told her that he believed he was gonna end up like her father, which is bonkers because, like you said, he studied everyone. He became the KING of POP after her father, and married her because he truly loved her, and respected him so much. The parallels from Michael to Elvis is scary similar. Seek out that interview if you haven’t, it really is an eye opener to see how similar they are (in their childhoods) and how much they understood each other. Michael and U2 are the musical influences that I have always held on to because of their humanity. I’m glad the movie continued to show that no matter his fame, he was doing something behind the scenes to make a new fan/person smile. I hope Amber does a Grammy comparison, because for U2 to beat out the King of Pop for the Best Album Grammy in 1988 is a testament to the power of the Joshua Tree album.

Patt SanKings

"Jo•Seph Jack•Son" 🤣🤣🤣 well portrayed by Colman Domingo.

Jeff Darensbourg

True Randy Jackson is now Janet’s Business Manager, and has been for quite some time. @Amber, I also highly recommend the Janet Jackson documentary series on Hulu that came out in 2022 I believe.

Stephen (aka Sphen)

Amber, I loved watching with you. This was my 3rd time seeing so it was a delight to witness your reactions. About Jaafar, I've been waiting for Jermaine's son to do this since Jaafar released his music video 6 yrs ago. Check this out, and you'll see more why it was perfect casting. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/zp4RUHxLbu0?si=_e2UUrXRqYkmgOHa

Rowan Figueroa

I've watched that interview a few times. She wasn't being fully truthful in it. Sorry, it's a habit from decades of reading body language. I can smell a lie like fart in the room. She was telling the truth about him thinking he wasn't going to live long, like Elvis. George Michael thought the same. It's sad how hard the media is on these artists.

Thomas McGlinchey

Yeah watching it back (clips that I can find) she was very much fidgety in it. But it is interesting because there aren’t many people that can relate to that type of scrutiny from such a young age. Culkin has been a MJ supporter throughout the allegations process and has held true to that discussion to this day when asked about it and I appreciate his truth…

Thomas McGlinchey

Amber, As a celebration of Michael’s message of humanity before all else, and to celebrate Pride Month can you react to this song about love for everyone: Love Make the World Go Round Jennifer Lopez ft. Lin Manuel Miranda https://music.apple.com/us/post/1141951305

Rowan Figueroa

Oh, I fully believe he's innocent. No question there. There needs to be some group that younger stars must join for flipping therapy or something.

Uncle Darnell

Looks like we need some Jackson 5 reactions

Dennis Fawcett

Here are some GOOD movies you need to watch. Wolf of Wall Street. Meet the fockers ,Waiting , Just friends, Animal House , 9 to 5 , ghost of girlfriends past , bird cage Can’t buy me love , footloose and Soapdish

Uncle Darnell

Anyone else legs hurt from twitching to every song? 😂

Jaxon Fierce

The Blond guitarist for Michael Jacson was Jennifer Batten

Thomas McGlinchey

Then it must be my mistake, but I know from interviews that Sheryl has done that she was on that tour with Michael in one capacity or another, which is still incredible to think of the growth she has had…

RollingAcres47

The guitar solo on Beat It was done by Eddie Van Halen himself.

Kristi Kalis

Growing up during his career was amazing. Every tragedy and every triumph was on camera for all to see. It was voyeurism at it's best and worst. The eccentricities were all a part of it. Behind the cameras were his dalliances with women, which almost no one was privy to except Bill and a couple of others. I remember all of it - the stories of the beatings, the severe burns, Thriller, all down to the death. He did change the world.

Mason “The Southern Gentleman”

I think it’s time for some ladies of music… Here is some Neo Soul that I hope we get to see a reaction from… One of the Queens of Neo Soul… Jill Scott: He Loves Me (Live & Rare) https://youtu.be/h0nRWHh6yKI?is=aZKNvAptyeWYEIXA Snoh Aalegra: I Want You Around https://youtu.be/4976Fgvf5Ps?is=aF2krvRtoeGbZgxN Another one of the Queens of Neo Soul… The Late Great Angie Stone : Brotha This song made me so proud to be a black man.. RollingAcres47

OK...no one else said it so I will. The super awesome guitar on the song Beat It was played by none other than Eddie Van Halen himself. He was a good friend of Michael. Did it for free. Never collected a dime.
