So, when I first saw the title of this episode, I thought "...like...THE Kevin Cronin???", then they open with the very same, et al, singing Time For Me to Fly...then they close with the live version with the whole band! Crazy that we got an REO Speedwagon episode 😅 Also funny how he asked their road mgr to straight up launder money and he then straight up told Kevin Cronin that Marty wanted to launder money through them! I still kinda like Wendy, just not how she was going about strongarming the elderly couple. Granted, that poor man was henpecked, probably through the entire marriage--based on the 'I shoulda married your brother' comment. Curious that her (presumed) death didn't come to light so far. Ruth is still pretty awesome. I love how she always calls Marty on all his crap. And I love how Wendy's brother is slowly wearing her down. Still noot sure what to think about Ben. He still seems a little bit suss to me. So, now the feds have somone on the hook...and the cartel got Marty on the hook. Have a feeling that guy Tommy might come out better, but we shall see! ...and the only thing I didn't get from our little puzzle at the beginning was the finger print. It might click later.

I said when the series started, that you would love Ruth. Julia Garner won three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Ruth Langmore. Sha also stars in a movie called Inventing Anna. It based on the true story of Anna Delvey. Another true story movie you should watch is called Catch Me If You Can. Stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. You'll understand why I suggested it once you've seen it and how it relates here. Both of these suggestions are true-crime movies.

Inventing Anna is great, but it's not a movie, it's a nine episode limited series created by Shonda Rhimes, available on Netflix. Garner is terrific in it, but the Russian accent is really disconcerting at first when you're used to seeing her playing Ruth on this show. Garner plays a rural Missouri trailer park girl so convincingly well, especially when you find out the actress is actually a Jewish girl from the Bronx in New York City. Apparently during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, she studied clowning under a famous theater professor and master clown who operated a clown school just outside of Paris and once had Sacha Baron Cohen as a student.

My interpretation of the interaction between Marty and the REO Speedwagon road manager was that Marty didn't directly tell him that he wanted them to help him launder money and he tried to make it sound like he was presenting some legitimate business opportunity, and the roadie just clocked that he was asking him to help in a money laundering operation and got straight to the point when he called Kevin Cronin and dropped the pretense that this was anything other than straight up criminal activity.

If you listen to the real Anna Delvy, you'll know that Julia nailed the accent. Anna was Russian, raised in Germany, posing as German, and trying to sound American, so her accent was a weird mish mash. Also, Anna's accent changed depending on who she was speaking to.

Tom Pelphrey (Ben) was so slimy in this role that in real life after getting together with Kaley Cuoco who's now having her second child with him, I still don't trust him ... lolz ... Ruth is GOAT!
