Hey guys,

If you've been keeping up with me via social media then you no doubt know why I've been less and less active on every platform.  My grandfather had cancer and my family has been going through a lot which needed me to be not as available so I could help out with that situation.  He passed this past Monday with the funeral being yesterday.

I am not writing this post in an attempt to elicit sympathy, but just to keep y'all in the loop.  Clearly I haven't been bringing my A-game and no amount of personal tragedy is enough to excuse my content not getting out in a timely manner.  I am currently working on a video that I am pretty proud of and it should be going up tomorrow.  I hope you all are looking forward to it and that you learn a little something new about the world of Marvel Comics.

While I have you here, we should address the elephant in the room.  Despite the fact that they reversed the decision, we lost a significant amount of Patreon funding thanks to their moronic decision to add fees to pledges.  Sadly, that number continues to be on the decline.  I definitely want to EARN your support so what can I be doing better?  What perks are good, which are bad, and what can I add to make supporting the channel worthwhile?  I'd really love to know.

While i can't say i know how patreon works, other most successful youtubers I know tend to have perks that make people have interaction with the making process or being part of a video. Whether it's having the names on screen (I know you already name some but maybe having a tier before where people just have names, they could even have a superhero nickname I dunno) or doing like kurzgesagt which higher tiers have a bird in a video. Otherwise I don't know if you're aware, but the book club is going eeeeeeeh right now. I'm trying to pick it back up but participation isn't the best. However, the important part is we've been doing theme selection by patron order (higher tiers first) so you could mention that. Another idea I've seen working is polls for future videos that are exclusive for patrons. I know you like doing what to do but it could be a deal of I dunno one video per month is chosen by patron supporters and you can make it so it's a choice between two topics you want to do anyway. Also I like the behind the scenes podcasts that interesting you could mention it in video and make the behind the scenes a 1$ thing I'm sure more people are interested in the research that went behind making your videos. Finally all my sympathy to you and your families. Do not think for a second that it isn't a valid excuse. We all deal with loss at some point. If you were needed elsewhere, that's ok and if you need more time that's ok too. Whatever happens you need to take care of yourself first and foremost. Hopefully I was of any help.

How about some more making of/behind the scenes type stuff?
