Level Up

this is the biggest project i've ever done. i've never spent this much time on a single piece before and honestly... it feels really good to say that

i ended up with around 2 minutes of animation and i wanted to do so much more, there were scenes i had to cut or simplify because my skills just aren't there yet. but that's okay. this project pushed me into territory i'd never touched before, new tools, new techniques, a bunch of things i'd been avoiding. physics, complex rigs, character animation, environment building from scratch... i had to figure all of it out as i went

i learned more making this than i have in a long time, still so much to learn, but i'm really happy with where i landed

What's Next

next week i'm opening a poll with two ideas for the next animation, it'll run for a whole week so everyone gets a chance to vote

while the poll is running i'm going into full study mode, focusing on my animation course and working on one specific scene: Vi Vi' running across the Hogwarts bridge. it's a full running cycle in a complex environment and it needs to be done properly, so i'm using that week to study AND build it at the same time

once the poll closes we'll get back to the normal weekly animation updates, and i want to try keeping a rhythm of one study week between projects going forward, to make sure i'm always actually improving and not just grinding on autopilot
