Chapter 18: Return to Routine

Muarauder squirmed within the confines of the straightjacket that held him snuggly in his crib. A pair of D-rings were located on the shoulders, straps connected those to the carabiner hooks that lined the head and footboards of the pup’s crib. His footpaws were similarly engaged, cuffed at the ankles and strapped to the climbing hooks at the foot of the crib, each of which were equipped with small keyholes that required a keychain filled with keys to unlock.

They were excessive, of course. Even if they had been closed with the default springs that most hooks came with Muarauder would have been completely unable to free himself from his predicament. Forced to lay on his back in his crib, with little ability to move let alone push himself into an upright position the pup was forced to stew in sodden padding he could guess would not be changed for some hours yet.

The return to his home life had been uneventful, after Pops had restrapped him back into his carseat following the disappointing, public embarrassment at the ice cream parlor his nanny had been at home waiting for him to arrive.

The deer had appeared nonplussed, as the brief respite from her duties had clearly not been long enough for her to properly enjoy herself. Although she had been able to spend the money from the bonus Pops had afforded her, she clearly wanted more time to herself as she had brusquely changed Muarauder following the return home and put him to bed early.

His frustration with the boredom that came with a 6 P.M. bedtime had done little to assuage his already soured mood. The only comfort he had taken was the residual taste of ice cream that lingered on his tongue, which was washed away the next morning when Nanny had proficiently brushed his teeth. That part of the daily hygiene routine the deer appeared to take a special liking to, and Muarauder often found himself somewhat annoyed with the sharp taste of minty toothpaste lingering on his canines which Nanny did not think necessary to wash off.

He was well taken care of, that was for sure. Almost too well, as he had no room to indulge himself in small comforts such as washing his teeth with water after brushing.

“We’ve got to keep your pearly whites sparkling, puppy dog!”

Nanny had stated flatly, after he had requested once that she give him a rinse. His wishes ignored, as they usually were, his frustration only furthered by the fact that Nanny appeared to be enjoying her duties less and less. This resulted in Muarauder being put into his bonds more often, and for further periods of time. Bound as he was, it allowed Nanny to do as she pleased while he had to make do slowly piddling the capacity of his diaper away, waiting for when his bowels would inevitably give up and void themselves into the waiting seat of his padding.

And their constitution was growing weaker by the day. He had tried to keep them relatively inert, hoping to hold his accident until around the time when Nanny decided that it would be a good time to change him. This of course sometimes resulted in holding it too long, forced to stay messy during his bedtime until the morning when the deer noted that the thick diaper around his waist could still hold more.

His strategy to minimize his exposure to accident-ridden pants was fruitless, and he realized that the way Nanny decided her changing routine would likely be best worked around by simply going when he needed to.

This was the goal of course, to have him become a helpless victim to his own accidents to the point where he went when he had to and hoped that Nanny would take notice of his needs when she deigned to. Day in and day out, he was even beginning to feel nostalgic about his humiliating trip to the local club and ice cream parlor.

Muarauder was bored if anything else, the continuous state of slightly soggy britches between his legs and an even stricter bondage regime was beginning to lose its luster as it was not on behalf of someone enjoying anymore. Nanny was just getting lazy and bored of her job as well.

The only time of day that Muarauder had been able to look forward to was breakfast, sometimes during which Pops would have pity on him and make him pancakes. Or even better, bacon, eggs, and buttered toast. Recently though, Pops was getting called into work earlier due to the busy season having started. Muarauder was seeing less and less of him, only the occasional snicker when he was brought to sit in his high chair across the kitchen counter as Nanny tried her best to spoon mashed peas into his muzzle. She had learned that this was his least favorite meal, but also the easiest to get into him while only making a mess of his muzzle. Muarauder was sure that Nanny took a particular satisfaction in seeing his mittened paws buckled underneath the highchair tray, unable to stop the parade of acrid green slop from being spooned into his muzzle.

The door creaked, and Muarauder looked over from the confines of his crib to see who had entered. He had expected the doe, who occasionally interrupted his nap times to check the state of his padding. Never had she actually changed him until after his ‘nap’, but she would comment on not wanting to change the sheets underneath him in case of leaks. When he had leaked, she had simply added another layer.

Instead of his Nanny, it was a pink canine who strode in: Pops.

“Mmmpf!”

Muarauder did his best to greet him through the pacifier-gag in his muzzle, eager for some stimulation even if it meant simply having to watch Pops bustle about the room looking for something. Instead of doing so, Pops made his leisurely way over to the crib bars and leaned his forearms against them, peering in an Muarauder.

“Comfortable?”

He asked, the corners of his muzzle twitching as he suppressed a grin. Muarauder grunted, not wanting to make a fuss if it meant potentially losing the interest of Pops. The spotted african dog continued to speak.

“I’ve got something coming in the mail, by the way. Something that might make your current situation a little bit more exciting.”

Muarauder’s ears perked up at this, despite himself. A change in regime was exactly what he was hoping for, even if it likely meant that it would only be entertaining for anyone other than himself. He yearned for novelty, and if Pops was wanting to play with his little play thing that would at least mean the potential for something different.

“Let’s take a look at that paci-gag, why don’t we. No talking now.”

Pops reached forward through the bars of the crib, working his paws past the base of the timber wolf’s jawline and undoing the clasps that held it in place. Removing the bulb from Muarauder’s muzzle, the bound pup took the opportunity to yawn and stretch out the sore muscles that were almost always open around the bulb of the pacifier. He did not speak, as he was instructed, but felt a sense of relief as he was able to relax his jaw somewhat.

Pops took out a small measuring tape out of his pocket and began to assess the dimensions of the pacifier with great interest. Muarauder was curious, as there were several others hanging in the closet for hygiene purposes while others were being disinfected.

He clearly wants me to know it has something to do with the pacifier… Why is he making such a big deal out of it?

Pops smacked his lips, satisfied upon concluding his measurements and reached forward to gently prod Muarauder on the nose.

“Open up.”

Reluctantly, Muarauder complied as the gag was reinserted into his muzzle. It had only been a minute, and he was back to being as mute as ever.

“Hopefully it’ll arrive within a few days of me ordering it, now you be a good puppy and take your nap.”

Pops withdrew from the room, even as Muarauder whined audibly in discontentment at being left alone to his own devices yet again. It was getting to be agonizingly boring, and he just wanted to be able to do something other than sit or lay in his soggy diapers every day without a shift in schedule.

He would simply have to wait, as the lock of the door to his nursery clicked shut. All he could hear were the muffled pawsteps of Pops moving to another part of the house.

The canine’s stomach gurgled, and he figured it would not be too long before that day’s dose of laxatives would be kicking in.
