The buck with dark head in the first panel was at the gathering!

I really wanted to make cameo adopts out of some of the characters in this herd, but I'm running out of time. 😔

Oh that's tragic. Mercy would be great right about now...

I’m so glad we get to start to see the effects of the (lack of) gods and their influence. This is so haunting and it’s just the beginning :,] cannot wait to see what unfolds

AdventureLemon

He is suffering, and currently the only way to end that awful state is to kill him. It’s so cruel to ask his family to end his life that way, such a heartbreaking situation. I can imagine Runi was imagining a scenario such as this when she cried a few pages ago. Anyway can’t wait for Antaras to get kicked in the head for all the suffering he’s caused.

Trapped in a decaying body and completely unable to die. A fate worse than death itself...

Crow

It's very cool (read: actually terrible in-universe) to see that this goes in both directions - no new life in, no old life out. That's a great detail.

Jelly Faun

...that's really grim. I knew the elders wouldn't pass but I didn't think it was as horrid as this. Well done, Ratt- gruesome without being violent and graphic. That's a hard line to walk.

Damn this hits home hard my grandma passed away last year and her death bed was a long and painfull one too... l know that there where deer suffering in the world but to see it visualised gosh poor things...

Emma the Bombastic CowboyClown

At least the stonecrvns (excuse incorrect spelling) were able to put down their loved ones who needed Loss to pass. But our poor grasslanders can't do that without condemning their more gentle morals. Poor Iralee, I feel like her godcaller duties she was born into weigh too heavily on her. She told our group she's no godcaller, I think she hates that burden

Tholfbutt

Damn, so devastating… and yet so beautifully done, Ratt.

Katie

Yikes, at this point you'd wish the deer could finish the elders off themselves, but there's likely no good way they could accomplish this without resorting to some desperate means (only the Stonekrovns could do this with fangs). Poor Iralee's not as stoic about this whole issue as she appeared to be during her introduction...

Terror

I imagine they'd somehow still die after decaying alive for so long.. I can't imagine the pain and suffering they'd have to endure before that happens though.

Lightning Chaser

It reminds me of that disease deer get. What is it, Chronic wasting syndrome or something. Where their body decays while they're alive. It's a disease of the prions.

Jean

Good lord, that is truly a fate worse than death. Your heart just breaks for that guy :(

Sheatherius

One might think wolves would follow the deer groups and take care of this issue (catch the very old and weak and sick), but wolves were not seen since the very beginning, and I get the impression that they must not be common in this setting (or are excluded because they would interfere with the plot point of the old not dying, which is an understandable creative choice!) I don't comment often but I've been following the story since you started it and it's always a high point of my week when there is another page. You've done a really great job with it!

Stavia

Oh lord. This is a fate worse than death.

Ritsuka Aoayagi

Awww poor babyyyy x.c someone shoo the fly off his eye at least x.c

Ritsuka Aoayagi

Not if the wolf thinks there is something seriously wrong with it sadly if it looks diseases they wont touch it or those around it
