I just have to say your way of drawing intense stares always sends chills down my spine in the best way possible, I still think about the flashback panel of Kasko crying while caressing Sulfi from time to time and just how much I truly fell in love with your art at that point. you are a huge inspiration to me.

New favourite page? Indeed! Because this is it. This is what happens when a bunch begins to care less and forgets themselves into thinking "oh, it's fine today. What could happen tomorrow?" Essentially, Antaras just reminded them that despite the peaceful weather anything could change. And they didn't listen. And here they are, completely unprepared, bare and and freezing under God's eyes. I can't blame them for not believing, this is how their culture is, but I bet that at least half of them are remembering Antaras' warning here. What I love the most, though, is the stare. I think any deer would be cursing the world if they were in Antaras' place, it's just -so-understandable that I find it hard to judge him.

and it's doubly awful because this is actually something that's taken the lives of many, many hikers and mountain climbers. the weather can change so quickly in some places and windchill can kill in minutes, in some cases. i love how horrifically real this error in judgment is on the parts of the march leaders, like... it's just so good setting up the dread for the last several pages

After 20 days though I feel the march leader wasn’t in the wrong. I don’t think food wise they could have stayed at that sheltered spot for almost a month?

Also something I've noticed just now - Oudia's eye is missing the spark in the last panel. I do not know how intentional that detail is, but given how her eyes were just a few panels ago when Antaras asked Eve to back out for a moment, I'm thinking that she might be slowly starting to fade.

True! This is no ordinary storm and the signs of it could've not been picked up by even professional navigators even before it was too late. Antaras had a bad hunch, but he also didn't know what would happen, or when.

Oh Oudia my heart breaks at the idea of her simply freezing to death - nothing anyone could have done. You've done a MARVELOUS job making readers love a character who, in the grand scheme of things, has only had any real screen time as herself for a few pages. She's a favorite of mine in just a short time!

Notice how instead of lying together to stay warm, the deer are spread out with only their companions. Losing body heat. Slowly freezing to death…

Antares.. and Usma survived because they have thicker coats.. Oudia was a grasslander :( even with Antares shielding her I don’t think she’s made it

Normally the child would be in the middle, but I'm guessing it's Oudia here because she's not a Northerner and thus needs the most protection. Her eye in the last panel does not look good though. :(

Yeah Oudia is a grasslander while Usma is a northerner and thus at her age here (teen/young adult?) she’s grown up adapted to her environment. Her coat is very thick and dense, while Oudia looks to have very short fur. While it’s stated this storm is so dangerous it could be deadly to northerns too, Usma still has a better chance then Oudia of withstanding the worst of the storm. So her mate and daughter are trying desperately to keep her and the fawn from freezing to death….but I think we know how that goes :(
