Next page will be worth the chapter's title (Red), so be aware! No injuries will be shown in detail, but there's blood. It's still more or less on par of what you've already seen in the comic.

Damn... the halvs falling dead out of the sky... :o I do feel legit bad for them tough fucking Antaras man.

raevei

OH THIS IS ABSOLUTELY CHILLING.....THE POOR HALVS

karlobears

Andy learned mercy? It was super effective! /lh

KiIIstreak

Holy crap! A whole herd committing suicide to avoid a handful of wolves. Would of been better if they chose fight rather than flight. Is this normal for deer?

x_ember_o

As a bird mom... seeing those halvs fall breaks my heart.

Natalie Varos

I think it's normal for any species. Think back to 9/11. People had two choices, if they were stuck in the towers. Burn to death, or jump.

TornTethers

Mannn, the saddest part of all of this, is many of the remaining deer were experiencing the same kind of heartbreak and loss as Antaras. They really didn't deserve this brutal end.

Magnum

This man's wife died and without a second thought he IMMEDIATELY jumped to mass murder 😭 brother's just staring these deer in the eye as they kill themselves. Andy, wtf man.

Robo87

I wouldn’t really call this suicide. Suicide is the intent to end one’s own life This is literally choosing which way you want to be murdered. Death by being ripped apart by wolves, or jumping in the very slight chance of somehow getting to safety but at least it’s a quicker and less painful death in reality. This wasn’t their choice; it isn’t a suicide but a murder even if some of them jumped knowing they would die

Kwelve

Ame's tears broke me. Yeah, maybe it's part of her fault that all the grasslanders died in that storm but still... She doesn't deserve this. The march doesn't deserve this. Rest in peace, badass reindeer ma'am

M0N5T3R5

The halvs dropping out of the sky after them is so good The halvs having lingered near their deer and the edge unable to do anything but watch untill they just dropped Birds dropping out of the sky has always been off putting and it's utilization in this comic is so good

brianna gormley

Antarus has experienced each one of the 3. Life Loss Wrath (war) And in doing so. Pulls each one from the heavens. Poetic but damn thats tragic

Robo87

At least Ame won’t have to worry about anyone giving her a bad yelp review 😢 Rip Millie, Ame, blue doe, other march leader that was crushing on her, white buck, old buck that looked like march leaders but wasn’t related, and all the marchers that didn’t deserve this It wasn’t their fault. It wasn’t any of their fault that Oudia died, or that they didn’t take his warning seriously. I’m not sure even staying behind a day or 2 would have made a difference in missing the storm. They all lost a loved one that night and Antaras is not due more grief then them. Their only sin was ignorance and being kind of jerks, but that doesn’t justify this

doeful

Grief made me do crazy things but it certainly didn't make me force others to reenact the Disney Lemming Moment so I think I'm doing okay

JKurv

I thought Ame wouldn’t jump and would end up lunch. It’s gonna haunt me that she just gave up and jumped with tears in her eyes. Perhaps she realized that her only options were being eaten alive or jumping to die instantly, and she took the easier of the two.

JKurv

There are many videos online that show deer panicking and jumping off bridges and other high edges to their death. Some videos show a whole small herd doing it. So yes. (Don’t look for those videos unless you have a strong stomach.)

votyasch

Really love the pacing on these last few pages. Usma's tale is a hard one to tell, her life has been painted with violence, and when she thought she found happiness and reprieve, it was swiftly robbed from her. In a way, grief can also kill the living. Antaras is not the father she knew him as, or what she's learned him capable of since the loss of Oudia and her unborn sibling... agh. I just feel really deeply for what horror Usma must feel, she carries the weight of responsibility that no one should, but that burden's laying on her anyway.

Tholfbutt

“Your lives for theirs. I call it a fair trade.” (‘Theirs’ being the unborn fawn’s life obviously not Ouida)

ObludaNat

Their Halves falling down from the sky in the last panel.... hit so hard Antaras arranging this situation, nearly forcing Usma to witness the same kind of horror she saw as a baby.... ouch

Diznits

usma, for months, has had to see time and time again the kind of monster antaras has become- maybe even the monster he'd always been capable of becoming. it's not surprising, but no less upsetting, to see how quiet and subdued she is now. a lifetime's worth of trauma experienced in mere months. guh... it's painful and so dang well-expressed /pos

Robo87

Fr couldn’t he at least tried to shield her eyes in his floof

sourfox

I didn’t notice the wolves about to grab Ame(?) until I looked at the page a second time. Chilling.

itsloach

man those halvs dropping in the last panel really sell the sudden halt of all sound into literal dead silence after that panic of the march to escape the wolves and then the jump. it's so haunting and tragic but also really beautiful writing.

Silfnix

holy crap just remembered - Millie saying “YOU KILLED US” 😨😣 UuhhGg That silent exchange! Ame being the only one to figure out Antaras is behind it- what must she have been feeling? Betrayal? Guilt or shame? Horror for sure 😣

Silfnix

omg I hadn’t imagined the silence 😰Absolute perfect horror 🥺 Ratt’s pacing and blocking practically animates this comic. I love the power of this story

Silfnix

@Ratt is it a spoiler to ask how many pages are left?

Danielle Camacho

I really liked how Ame's expressions have changed during this flashback. From confidence, to horror, then exhaustion before devastation. It personified her to the point that I sympathized with her tears before she jumped.

Aen Riv

You know... a good leader would have stayed behind to hold the wolves off. If you're gonna die, at least be useful. Especially after what you've put the herd through.

Norwein

Ontop of everything said, in the beginning of GS Nero told Biro that hungry wolves eat their prey alive. With them sinking their teeth into Ame here, these words have become ten times more haunting.

Crimzonian

Everyone was already tumbling over the cliff. There was nobody left for her to defend.

Spiritstrike

The last panel where the birds follow their halvs down... hauntingly sad

Aen Riv

Should have done that sooner.

Emma the Bombastic CowboyClown

This reminds me of a fawn I saw a little over a month ago. It was dead on about a 20 foot cliff on the side of a lake. The poor darling probably got scared by a passing car. It looked so peaceful laying on the rocks below. I took a closer look, and it had been half eaten by scavengers already, two ravens and a seagull were squabbling over the remains. But the front half was entirely untouched still. Eyes closed like it was sleeping

Katie

What a haunting page...

Ritsuka Aoayagi

Why bother pretending you believe in something and asking fir protection if you weren't going to use it? -__- bruh
