Let's do math with Eve....

I'm concerned Eve's speech is hard to read. It's REALLY hard to make text readable if it has no bubbles behind it since the different backgrounds tend to fight the color of the text.

Personally I find Eve's speech fine to read! It's quite a bright red so that and the black border give enough contrast to stand out in most panels imo Also I love Loss just standing menacingly in the background of these pages. It's just (((Looming)))

karlobears

So he knew from the start, that it wouldn't be her. I wonder if he'll ask about the unborn fawn. Oh this is all so intriguing

AdventureLemon

This is so awful, but I feel like Eve is not being malicious, she speaks the truth. Oudia’s soul is gone, she would literally be a puppet for Eve. We know Antaras still went through with this plan because of the fawn, but only now we see how terrible this bargain was. And Usma can’t bear to look, poor girl.

AdventureLemon

On an unrelated note, IRL the star Antares is now close to the Moon 👀 that’s some crazy GS promo going on

Jelly Faun

Oh snap! I wonder if that's why the catty gal's Halvs died so soon after being reborn. Her breath existed within them but only as long as the demonstation, then they died again. O^ O

Kwelve

My poor Usma...

Diznits

loss standing behind its big sis is kinda adorable tbh. it's just along for the ride

Grey

Ah, maybe the reason the baby can be truly revived is because they don’t have a halv yet.

BlueAtka63

Hmm now I wonder what for was that demonstration... Like, do these gods really care if the deer believe in them? Enough to do some resurrection show?

BlueAtka63

Also, i wonder where is Antaras' halv is in this moment, haven seen him in a long time. Wouldnt it be needed for this god magic?

The Bestiary

I don't have any issues reading Eve's speech! Also I REALLY love the scale of Loss compared to the others.

horribledynne

ahhh i thought so, the halv would snarl the resurrection. i really love eve. i like the way she speaks, i like her development, she's a curious god. this puts her recent attempts at performing lets say 'humanity' interesting. the smiling and cuddling up to antares.

Jeiazu

I wonder if its around this time his halv leaves him? he mentions when we see his halv that he's "flown so far above his head" for awhile

Tholfbutt

He was not expecting that at all, from the looks of it.

I think one thing that's still sitting with me is how Usma has been unable to look and can hardly even seem to stand from the weight of her grief and possibly the guilt she feels, since she wanted to join the march down into the grasslands in the first place. I wonder if she feels as though the actions Antares took are in her "hands", so to speak. Sacrificing the remaining deer to trap two gods, and now what comes next... She is carrying her father's sins. Meanwhile, what I find fascinating is that we have seen a lot of build up with the halvs so far, acting as the voice of Karuna, the impact of being sacrificed and the use of their skulls, and this reveal: there is no Oudia without her halv (did we ever get a name for the poor little guy?), only the flesh. She needs her halv to complete her soul / being.

Cass

I love how dorky Loss looks peering at the bodies. He's so much less threatening than his sister.

Robo87

So we have confirmation that Oudia can’t come back and that honestly breaks my heart. I’ve come to love her over the last chapter and adore her family with Antares and Usma…they all clearly loved and cherished each other. I can’t fathom the amount of grief and guilt both Usma and Antares no doubt feel, and it’s cruel that their family was shattered in such a brutal way I don’t condone Antares killing the march at all, but I know he’s so traumatized and emotionally destroyed at Oudia’s death he’s in a place beyond any logic. Just a desperate hope that’s about to be shattered again So I’m guessing he traps Eve in Oudia’s body to at the very least to save their fawn and have a small piece of Oudia left. Still so many questions though. He tells Usma “hold on a little longer dove, we’ll be a family again”, this implies he isn’t worried about Eve or Loss stomping him flat once he releases them…IF he releases them. And what is the significance of Eve refusing to speak to him for months, and why she decided to start again? I’m locked IN

Eve Raven

But what about the unborn baby???

Katie

Is that eye in the last panel the eye on the fawn's head on Ouida's face? That is such a great and creepy little detail.

Strixcaliber

I love the detail of Eve shrinking down to Antaras' size to explain the halv thing. Like a parent kneeling down and explaining a concept to a child

Terror

I can read her speech just fine!

Norwein

I love Eve's honesty. Especially the "she will -stay up- only for as long as I'm in her". Not "live", "breathe", "feel", just...stay up. It's so telling.

JKurv

I’m betting he is weighing on being able to repel them so they can’t attack him once released. He did stop Eve from attacking him already, and he clearly has control of them both now. I’m also betting that her taking the life back from those two halves at the gathering was a huge foreshadowing in regards to that fawn.

itsloach

This is something I've been curious for a while. Deer are equally being stillborn as they are dying. That also likely is impacting halvs? If the fawns aren't alive when born then halvs aren't hatching either? What could this mean for oudia and antaras' fawn if it is born alive in a world with its cycles broken? Lots of stuff that keeps it all interesting.

JKurv

JFC the look of dawning realization on his face that Oudia can’t come back despite all he did… He looks like he might jump off a cliff himself in the next five minutes.

Robo87

I honestly hope she doesn’t because that means Usma will suffer more. She’s been through severe trauma having her mother and unborn sibling freeze to death beside her, and then see the loving and gentle father twist into a murderer that ensnares the gods and breaks the world (not to mention the whole birth parents eaten by wolves when she was a baby thing) Usma was hurled into this without warning, and is innocent from her father’s sins. But I wonder if the only glimmer of hope in these months was that at the very least she would still get a little sibling even though it won’t be the same as it was before. I have a feeling Antares won’t survive the end of this story (I very well could be wrong just a guess!), and I’d hate for Usma to have to suffer losing her entire family. Idk I can see Usma having to raise the fawn in the end. Bittersweet, but still a hope that she has some happiness and healing in the future

Robo87

Hmm…Usma’s halv is gone as well…

LinkaBell

I know some may have troubles, but I can read the text flow just fine, it is tricky with a bright background like this, but I think you're nailing it.

JKurv

Let’s hope that if worst comes to worst Usma will at least gain the OG team as her new family. She would realistically never be truly ‘whole’ ever again, though. Too much trauma. She may heal but the scars will remain.

Aen Riv

Perfectly readable. And perfectly creepy in weird caring kind of way.

Emma the Bombastic CowboyClown

I like the text. It's harder to just gloss over it, you gotta read it with more attention/focus. I have ADHD so it's easy for me to gloss over words way too dang fast

JKurv

I’m legally blind in one eye and badly near-sighted in the other, but I only had to focus in read the text. You’re fine imo!

Jalohauki

After re-reading the pages with Antaras in all that has been revealed so far in mind... I think he has morphed into my favorite character of the comic. None of what he does is right, but the sheer sorrow in his heart after losing almost everything is both justifying and eating him from the inside. Truly wonderful writing!

Mezozotil

damn. wonder why he still went through with it, even if he knew ouida would never really be brought back

Silfnix

Its the one spark of hope i have left.

Jean

If I had to take a guess, I'd say for the fawn. That's the only reason I can think of
