To Antaras. This is my personal take but the way Eve has totally ignored Usma so far, I think she only bothers to speak with Antaras. Usma is just a little pebble on a road for her.

Both Eve and her eye-fawn are smiling, she definitely has something tragic in store. My heart breaks for poor Usma, that sweet girl deserved so much better. Antaras seems to already be at the point “gone too far, no backing up now”, but for the first time since talking to the gods he seems soft and concered.

I kinda have the theory that Eve actually wants to keep the fawn after it's born since the creator mentioned she was eternally pregnant in her design notes. So she'd probably never really birth a fawn of her own, only breathe life into others so she might see this as an opportunity to gestate Ouida's fawn and keep it for herself because she's being very vague about what happens after all this

Also because when the fawn was mentioned the eyes on her second head went wide open like she had discovered something she wanted or realised that this was an opportunity for her, because she's sure acting generous for a god who's being held hostage by a mortal

I feel like it's gonna come out so mutated and Eves gonna be like "well since the fawn was born like that ig I'm just gonna keep it" leaving Antaras alone again as a punishment for capturing her

Poor baby girl. I don’t think she even knows what she’s asking him to stop; she has been smacked with trauma over and over in a very short time frame and just wants it ALL to stop I’m actually disappointed this is the last page of the flashback I still have so many questions and things I wanted to see! But I guess that’s good storytelling always leave them eager for more lol ❤️

Definitely talking to Antares, but Eve sees Usma’s pain, AND that he’s hurting Usma by doing this. That’s why she says it. Remember Eve remarks on it when Usma leaves? That all he has left is the cold company of stolen stars.

Before this moment it seemed like he was in a trance, like a grief induced out of body experience, guided by a single thought. But the fact that Usma broke through his trance, even for a moment, makes his decision feel worse!! I am personally hurt by his actions and I’m calling my Deer Lawyer

Antaras... that's so heart breaking. :( she begged him. she is his daughter in all but blood, but his madness at the loss is too great. Also Eve, that is the most diabolical smile I have ever seen. (OH MY GOD EVEN THE FAWN'S HEAD IS SMILING) Ratt why do you continue to THRASH my emotions.

The most heartbreaking thing is…. If Antares hadn’t hastily stolen the stars, he and Usma might have had a chance to heal from this. OF COURSE they would be shattered and heartbroken for a very long time, but they could have comforted each other. They’re still a family without Oudia and the fawn. It would have taken a lot of time and I’m sure neither one of them would ever stop missing Oudia and mourning the stolen future. they were all so eager for…. but time might not heal wounds but it gets easier to bear them especially if you have someone there grieving the same loss as you are. It won’t be the same as it was before but there is still a life to live after you experience a traumatic loss, and even happiness still to find Maybe one day Usma would have had met someone she falls in love with and brings them into her broken little family. Maybe someday she would have had a fawn, and Antares would have found some joy in becoming a grandfather despite his broken heart But now I don’t think they’ll ever have that chance

I LOVE how Antaras' expression in the third panel is like a grim reflection of the gentle smile that kept Usma at bay before he called her daughter (page 314 when I checked). As if in a way, he needs to (maybe unconsciously) put distance between them again to go ahead with this decision while hurting her so... Maybe it's just coincidence, but my mind immediately flew back to it when I saw this page.
