Hey girlies!! Welcome to Spill it Girlies, our question submission series where YOU get to ask us the burning questions! Here’s the deal... we’ll toss out a topic, and you’ll send in your juiciest questions around that topic. Then, we’ll pick some of our favs and dive right in! It's like a question hotline!

And our first prompt is… Advice! Apparently, a lot of you seem to think we have any business giving advice (not sure why either, but we’ll take it). So hit us with an advice question about literally anything and we’ll give it our best shot.

Advice on handling the holidays with family who is split with politics? 👀 I feel like this year is a tough one for a lot of us. For me, my sister is the one I’m currently battling this with. And I’m pregnant so I don’t even want to touch the subject because my hormones make me cry when I’m angry LMAO

Rachel Mariee

Obsessed with this advise column segment. Just submitted mine 💗

Jessica

Maybe this is horrible advice... but... my dad is very heavy in the sauce on Trump. Like spiraling yelling and spam texting if you say ANYTHING about him or even discuss democrats. My solution? I avoid at all costs. If it can't be avoided, I'm quiet ish and passive. If he still pries, I feign interest in Trump because it will shut him up. There's no changing his mind or views. So it's a waste of breath otherwise. It keeps the peace. I move on, he doesn't spiral.

Daria Deckert

Advice on teaching my 1 year old thing without sounding like I'm training a dog. (She's best friends with our dog, who was an only child until the human came and was/is spoiled to human life)

Demi 🫶🏻

Woohoo just submitted it. Great time actually 🤣

Tommi!

I just submitted!! It’s a bit of a wild story and I’d definitely appreciate some insights.

Chels

Just submitted one! Really hoping to get some help over here 😮‍💨

Rachel Brauer

Don’t know if my question is good but excited to have it be read by the girlies

Ash Borkar

Going no contact is an option. I have no family and will be spending through holidays alone, 700-2000 miles from any family. It's a hard decision, but sometimes is the only thing you can do. that said, I hope the girlies discuss this because it's very prominent right now. You're not alone 💖

Amanda, it's okay to choose your own peace. Sometimes we have to pick the battle, and if you want to continue having (what I assume is) a good relationship with your family, it's best to choose to be honest and say "hey, this topic is clearly something that sets everyone off, so how about we keep it off table conversations", or to simply ask them not to bring it up if they don't want to hear you arguing. If they refuse you could ask them if rubbing things in your face is truly more important than their family being comfortable around them. You could also ignore it when anything is said, get up and silently walk away to make your point. There are ways to do it, but whatever you do, I hope it works out for you <3

Sam

I absolutely love this idea! Can’t wait to see the video these end up in. So glad I joined the Patreon. The extra content has been so worth it.

Hannah

I hope they talk about this because Jessi has mentioned having conservatives in her family too. It’s really hard to navigate right now when you’re the ONLY one in your family who didn’t vote trump.

Hannah

I’d love to get Jessi’s perspective because she has kids too. No contact is a hard choice when it involves your littles too.

Harmeen

I love this!!!!

Mare

I agree. My MIL gets all her info off of FB and won't listen to logic or facts. I don't want my daughter around her at this point but I hate to be that person. However it's a moral issue and I am going to protect my child the best I can. Why is the election right before the holidays??

Hana

Ignore it.

Heaven Grochoske

My question is very regular/ boring so idk if it’s juicy enough to be included but I’m excited to see everyone else’s !!!

Abby Thomet

Not horrible advice at all Jessica! My mother is the same way, and while I’ll admit sometimes she gets the better of me, I try my best to disengage and redirect as much as possible. She will still continue the conversation (even if it’s only with herself lol 🙄) but you gotta stay strong and not engage

Sophie Kavanagh

My fingers are crossed, maybe if the girls don’t choose our question if anyone feels comfortable enough we could ask each other if they’ve advice on? Just an idea

Krystle

I hope they could offer some advice on mine. Cause I’m at my wits end! 🤞🏽🤞🏽 if not maybe the other girlies can offer advice too

Krystle

Maybe let everyone know it will be a politics free zone. Let them know it’s causing lots of stress on you and the baby. So no politics. And if they can’t stop, they know they will be causing both of you harm and it will not be allowed. So either behave or stay away from you.

Lauren Hunke

I LOVE this idea Sophie!! Especially the part where us "other girlies" would have a way to help each other, and offer advice to the ones' whose questions don't get covered. As long as everyone follows the chat guidelines (which of course everyone's been doing!), it could be a really fun way to build/get plugged in with this little community of ours!

Sophie Kavanagh

Aw glad you agree! Just think it would be a cute way that if each one is dedicated to a certain topic but your question doesn’t get picked maybe someone else still has advice that is helpful 😊

Lauren Hunke

Dog mom and human Mom of 2 here! My kids are 5 and 10 now, but honestly, toddlers are a lot like dogs at that age! Meaning: consistency, redirection and over the top praise when they do ANY behavior you’re looking for (with verbal reinforcement) work for both. Kids will also model your behavior, so try to make sure you’re teaching/parenting from a place where your emotions are regulated (so much easier said than done!) but honestly, they don’t need you to be overly wordy, they just want to be able to communicate with you! We also did some ASL signing that helped a TON before they fully had their words. At the end of the day, you’re doing a great job, and whatever method you find that makes actively teaching fun for both of you, is a WIN! (Even if that means talking to her just like you do her furry sibling!) 💗
