Hey girlies! In today's episode, per popular demand, the girlies go back to 2018 to reflect on what has become known as one of the most infamous event disasters in YouTube history. What started as Tana Mongeau's retaliation against Vidcon after not being made a featured creator and getting banned from the event permanently, would ultimately turn into what can only be described as an absolute cluster fuck. What was marketed to be a 3 day event filled with special guests and performers, ended up getting prematurely cancelled after just one day. Thousands of fans were left not only disappointed, but also sunburned, dehydrated, and exhausted after spending hours in line in hopes of making it inside the venue - which for most, never happened due to the event selling over 4000 tickets despite the maximum capacity being just over 1000.

TanaCon was how I was introduced to Shane Dawson and I remember I was so new to Youtube/the internet I did NOT understand anything going on. I was like wait Youtubers are famous?? He had a wedsite where ppl submitted pics he would rate and roast and just be an asshole about. Flew a minor out, took over guardianship, and then the 2nd partner was sending nude pics to the minor and trying to make it a relationship 😅 it's a whole rabbit hole

One of the more interesting parts in my opinion is that she then went back to Vidcon (At Least Vidcon London) in 2020 that was my first Vidcon and the last in London and I got to meet her and she looked like she was having a blast. It was literally the February just before the we (The UK) went into the first lockdown.

They still are! It’s similar to the Paul brothers I think. Some people just love unapologetic, messy, selfish chaos. An arrogance and unwavering self confidence they could never have! She was also “edgy” in a way that was popular at the time. “I was fucked with a toothbrush” being her first classic viral moment. It’s why I think it’s BS when people say Shane Dawson’s old content was never ok. Rightly or wrongly (definitely wrongly) that was the time. Tana was being sexual in a very gross way as a teen. Shane was using dark humour. Onison was asking underage girls to send him photos so he could rate their appearance, iDubbbz was making Content Cop and saying the n word every 3 seconds & Pewdiepie was paying non English speaking actors in Fiverr to hold up signs saying “Death to All Jews”.

It is so insane to think that lily was litterally friends with Shane and ryland at that time. I have chills thinking back to that era of 2018. I am the same age as tana so i feel so weirded out by the tought of a girl the same age as me was organizing a whole con when i was jobless, just out of beauty school with nothing to my name. Looking back it just feels so strange to see everything that went down after that and the collapse of many big youtubers we grew up with in the coming years after tanacon. I don't know... I just feel nostalgic about a time where i was still a child and so clueless to the shit that was about to go down both on youtube and in my life since then. I feel really emotional watching this video, longing for a time where things were so simple... not so fun fun fact; the guy who was managing tana at the time, who put the entire thing on and did the documentary, actually was a menace to all his clients and even *allegedly* pulled a g*n on Larray who he also managed around that time (Larray talked abt it in another yotubers podcast). that guy was insane 😭
