i don't drink, but i always split the bill with everyone when we go out. If it's my two besties and me we usually split the bill in thirds and then one of us will always say, "wait, i had a full entree while you only had salad," or "i got 3 drinks and you guys didn't get any drinks," and we decide on our own to throw in more. NOBODY asks to throw in less!

on the topic of weed, when i had cancer, and no prescriptions were helping with nausea, my oncologist offered the synthetic type (before it was legal here), but said "if you happen to have access to the real stuff, it does work much better." as soon as i told my family that, people started coming out of nowhere to bring it to me. SO many people were happy to have a way to help. The best part was, it worked better than anything else by far. After having to be hospitalized twice due to vomiting so much, i couldn't believe what a difference it made. Prescription nausea meds for chemo aren't cheap, and they helped, but not enough. Weed totally cured the nausea and vomiting and gave me a reprieve from the constant worry I had that my daughter might be left without parents if I died, since i'm a single mom. it's been over 20 years now, and while my cancer returned twice, I'm still here, despite my initial prognosis being somewhat grim. i've had a lovely relationship with weed ever since. and with my daughter, who is now grown (i'm old AF).

ok as a frequent user of splitwise, I can explain — it can be super useful for tracking expenses with a bigger group on a trip or something. one person can buy coffee for 3 of the group and split that between the 3, then another can buy lunch and split it between all 5, etc. then at the end of the trip or whatever it will tell each person who they owe money to to fully balance it out and it makes it easier than calculating how much each person spent and who owes who manually. I am also the group expense calculator for my friends and this app is truly very helpful 😆😆 we met in college when we were all super broke so we were very specific about splitting things up back then. also I’d pay for things a lot of the time and not get paid back at all so doing the calculations kind of just ensured I actually got paid back lol

but def understand the instinct to pay as you go and they shouldve explained it better at the start lol I also had a friend pay me through the app and I was like how do I get this out of here… for whatever reason I didnt have to connect my bank when I first got the app

When I went on a bachelorette trip for my sister in law we had one person pay for everything that weekend. At dinner one night we went to a seafood restaurant and I HATE seafood. The girls ordered a $200 seafood tower because that is what the bride wanted. I had lettuce wraps and fries but I still paid the evenly split bill. You should go into a bachelorette trip assuming you’ll be paying for things you don’t eat/want bc you’re treating the bride. It’s her weekend.

It's crazy grown ass adults behave like this. When my sister and I went on my friend's bach trip, we didn't drink *at all* and we still split everything evenly between all the girls, because it's literally not about me. We were all there to celebrate our friend.

This is so triggering for me because my sister whom I love very much was an asshat to my friends right before my Bach weekend because she thought they were "putting her on blast" for making a math mistake. Meanwhile they were just trying to make sure it was fair and they weren't paying for my sister's friend from school to come (which I said she could but didn't have to pay for MY expenses, just her own). They apologized for making her feel bad but she still held a grudge.

Lily’s meltdown over Splitwise made me crack up. When me and my bestie travel together we will use Splitwise to track everything and then settle up at the end of the trip so we’re not sending back and forth. Normally since I’m the planner I’ll book the hotels and trains and things so then she’ll pay for our food and some shopping things (and we just add each thing we pay for to the app and have it split in half) and then at the end we see who owes who after the trip and normally it ends up pretty close with one of us needing to only do one transfer of like $100. BUT that’s just 2 of us, we’re basically sisters, and we discussed the plan in advance.

I don't usually go out in groups, but if it's a group plan, then we ask the waiter to separate our checks before we start ordering. However, if I invite someone out, then I, the person who invites, will pay for the bill, and they will pay for the tip. But that is how I grew up.

Splitwise is great! You’re supposed to wait til the end to pay so it can calculate everything and it’ll do all the math for you and work it out so you’re only paying one or two people instead of a bunch of transactions. And you can choose to use Venmo but just mark that in the app instead of paying direct so both are options idk but i promise it can work well lol

One of my ex friends made us wait at a restaurant for 40 minutes because she wanted to divide the cost of the 2 appetizers everyone shared and everyone's meals and split the cost of the meals people shared... Mind you there were about 7 of us so instead of just saying separate tabs she did the math and gave it to the server so we could each pay different amounts that were about 1 or 2 dollars different!
