krista

we need something called “Lily Lore” and she can finally tell us all the extra stuff she’s uncovered about past mentions (without doxxing of course!) lol

krista

classic CC, trying to be relevant in something that has nothing to do with her. hope they keep her at arms length irl.

krista

last comment, my favorite Jessi moments from this episode, “Hicks” and “who the f*ck asked you to do that” 😆

Chloe_K✨

This really made my day. Feel like we’re all taking a trip down memory lane🤣

So “she’s so well spoken” is a pretty common microaggression. Microaggressions are also often times unintentional. I think listening to Black women when they tell you something was racist is never a bad thing. As white people we all have bias and all benefit from white supremacy, and just because a white person may not actively hate anyone for their race, doesn’t mean they don’t inherently hold racist beliefs that need to be unlearned.

Courtney Lynn Cueto

Such terrible luck for Belle Blake that she got caught BSing on Lily’s special interest topic

Alyssa Podolec

random, but speaking of merch towards the end of the video-- I NEED a baseball cap and sweatshirt with "one of the girlies" or "allegedly in my opinion" or something along those lines ASAP RN

Girlies I've run into a "personal shopper " but times 100. Near me we have a place we call the bins. So you go in grab clothes you want put it in a cart and then you pay per weight of ehat you buy. They rarely have carts because its so busy, but you need one in order to have the stuff weighed right. Anyway, every fucking time I've gone there's been a lady in a corner with a whole set up showing clothes for people to buy... four carts full and she didn't pay for shit. She and her partner go and grab the good stuff and try to sell it on TikTok live.. I know I posted this on the YouTube comments but I wanted to share it here too because its fucking bonkers

Haley Kukan

People be outing themselves as racist by saying these things. Like no...that's not what I meant, but why was that the first thing YOU jumped to? 🤔

kailyn 🍓

instead of do we award them, read all the messages you get from the year

Chris

Omg please release the belle blake files just to spite her

Chris

Also just rated do we know them 10 stars on IMDb

Loren Mintz

Did something happen between you guys and Nick diramio? 🫖☕️

Hi vet student here. Just to clarify, the injury that antipasto lady’s dog had, is EXTREMELY common in French bull dogs, it’s called IVDD or intervertebral disc disease where the discs between their vertebrae harden at a much earlier age than other dogs (2-4 years old). One wrong jump, walking down the stairs, or running in the yard can cause these discs to shoot into their spinal cord or severely compress their spinal cord, leaving them paralyzed from the point of that injury down. I see it every single day. The locticians dog definitely didn’t cause this injury and even if they were playing, her dog likely would have developed this problem anyway :( please don’t get frenchies

Lisa

While normally I would 100% agree with you I do not at all think that is relevant in this case. Both girls constantly, as part of their commentary, mention whether someone is well spoken or a good story teller when discussing a topic. Constantly. Regardless of race. If this was an unusual comment for Jessi to make or it was said with the implication of “she’s so well spoken and that’s surprising because she is black” then absolutely. But not when their job literally involves discussing how good the subjects of the topic are at conveying their stories and opinions.

Mo Medusa 🧡🤍🩷

Sorry but none of that matters. White people don’t get to decide what is or isn’t a microaggression. Their intention doesn’t matter. The harm it causes does, though. So instead of being defensive, it’s usually best to just listen, apologize, and move on.

Mo Medusa 🧡🤍🩷

And again, microaggressions are just that … micro. If they were more blatant acts of racism than they would not he called microaggressions. It doesn’t have to be “she said she was well spoken and implied it was surprising cuz she’s Black.” Saying it at all implies that. Again: it’s usually unintentional.

Lexy Vargas

So I'm black and as someone who gotten comments like that, honestly I agree with Lisa. While I whole completely agree and appreciate you saying that white people don't decide what is and isn't I microaggression. I think it is also important to acknowledge when people are digging for nuggets that aren't there. I've personally never had issues with their comments on how well spoken someone is because I know they don't mean anything to do with race because so many people they cover sound like such morons. And I'm sorry that "melonated voice" lady was absolutely reaching. Jessi even showed proof she didn't make a face. Honestly I couldn't even tell she was squinting. So yes be mindful of microaggressions but there's also nothing wrong when pointing out if someone is reaching.

Steve Klemow

Oppositional Defiance Disorder is a pediatric diagnosis Jessi. Maybe don’t trivialize it by playfully invoking it to explain your resistance to accommodating requests by your audience? It’s really not appropriate—if someone invoked something similar pertaining to autism I don’t think you’d be very happy about it.

Steve Klemow

As someone who has likely been the subject of innumerable microagressions, do you really think it’s nice to diminish the lived experiences others who feel troubled by the girlies using this expression and then excusing it by saying “we use those words about everybody”? There are certain phrases that have been widely characterized as prejudicial, and it wouldn’t be ok to soft pedal their impact by saying them and using similar excuses to justify it. I’ve watched every episode of DWKT multiple times, and I’ve never once heard either of them comment on how articulate any subject of their stories was other than this person. I think it’s highly reasonable to look at this incident as unconscious prejudice—not intended in any malicious way, but just a matter of the subversive biases that been ingrained in all white people. I don’t in any way believe either of the girlies is racist, although it isn’t my place to comment on whether their actions are worthy of offense to communities other than my own. However, I’ve heard the girlies using phrases that could easily be hurtful to queer people, and although I didn’t choose to voice my offense, I wouldn’t attempt to discourage others in my community from using their voices in polite protest. This podcast has unfortunately engendered the usual parasocial faction of die hards who will defend them no matter what they say. That’s a scary principle that I think both of them would object to TBH. I’m not arguing that you are doing that here, nor am I attempting to discredit your opinion. I just think that those who have attempted to point out to Lily that this phrase is problematic have not only the right to do that, but a defensible point. I would have far preferred that Lily had simply acknowledged that this phrase could easily be heard as judgmental and offered a humble apology, rather than trivializing it with a thoughtless excuse. Peace.

Steve Klemow

Lily, you state here that the only thing you’re going to take off YouTube is “grave misinformation”. OK, the Elizabeth Teckenbrock video is an hour and half straight of grave misinformation—one that continues to show up on my feed, doing ongoing harm to Andrew and her other victims. I think it’s awful that you continue to profit from it, and I strongly think you should take it down. You should have a long time ago, especially since your follow up video continues to humiliate Andrew. Please do better.
