Once you get past learning how to use a completely foreign camera system with limited buttons on an all-metal body, the $2,000 Sigma BF becomes a great companion. And I highly recommend you rent one for a weekend because of how different it feels from everything else and how it might change your perception of Sigma.

The part that didn't make it into the video was my admission that I had been sleeping on Sigma's technology. With limited time using any of their previous camera systems or lenses, I had thought of Sigma as the low-cost, and therefore lower-quality, alternative to the bigger camera manufacturers. But I can now say with great certainty that I was wrong.

The Sigma BF and Sigma's Contemporary lenses can play ball with the big guys, and they do it while looking absolutely beautiful and unique. Below are a few of my favorite shots from the Sigma BF. Unlike in the video, where I added just a touch of contrast, these are all straight out of cam.

Those are great. I'm glad it performs well too. I played with it at CP+, and found it really endearing. So much more ergonomic than I thought! The whole booth was so good too (they brought their whole photo book library!) I want to buy some sigma gear just for the heck of it 😅 (fair bit of footage in my video https://youtu.be/SeomAobpDx0)

Like the honest review, great comparison at the end. Thanks.

your video is great! I wanted to go to CP+ real bad, living vicariously through you. What did you shoot this on?

Becca Farsace

(feeling validated that you too had trouble turning the BF on)

Phil Knall

Haha exactly, thats the intended effect of the video! It's mostly Osmo Pocket 3, and a bit of a7cii for the talking head and lens testing. And yes the power button was so confusing at first 😅I loved when David tried it on the podcast and was like "so the record button is the power button?"

This is the first time I've seen the black one in a video and I like how it looks. I've been thinking about getting into the L-mount system, and this is very tempting, but it's really hard to justify at the $2000 price point.

Adam Fofana

That price point is maniacal, but other than that this looks awesome.

Adrian Cobb

Been waiting for the Becca review ever since I heard of this camera.

Becca Farsace

The black is also a fingerprint and dust magnet! Very hard to keep looking clean.
