Symbolic for her last moments to be at that very spot

Comments

WAFFLETITS

Alright look, I know she's bat shit cray and going around killin mofos but Listen: I can fix her. (also still hoping for a Black sails reaction someday. i want to believe.)

Metweet .c

The way I could throw up just seeing a small clip of rishi sunaks face with Joe biden

xProKnockz

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks she is annoying

Hollow

Can't blame Salazar for not wanting to jump RIGHT back into the shit right after her invention was used to murder a bunch of kids. But she got there. All things considered she held up a lot better than I would have.

Metweet .c

I get why people became suicidal or why there's a spike in mental health issues. When you take in what they saw it's hard not to believe your mind would break as its something our brains can't comprehend when we come face to face with it.

Yamahai

Did I miss something? Is the caption for another video?

TheOGDaffy

Auggie's actress I'm sure is a wonderful human being but she is definitely the weakest actor in the show, and it doesn't help that her character is extremely frustrating

Jaden Coleman

Normally when you buy new pet fish, a lot of the times it's recommended that you to put the plastic bag the fish comes in inside their new tank so the temperature of the water the fish is in adjusts properly. I guess she bought the fish and the tank and told him to take care of the rest lol

trippersigs22

Yeah Auggie is VERY annoying. She seems to be a combination of two separate characters from the book, but in the context of the show she feels like shes just here to complain and make petty drama. I can understand her felt responsibility , but between this and the general way she treats Saul it makes it SO HARD to watch her.

Pilausky

The kids on the ship would just grow up to be the adults on the ship doing the same thing she doesn’t feel bad about killing

Jaden Coleman

Yeah the moral high ground that people took throughout the back half of this season was really weird to me lol. Like, ya'll do know we trying to prevent world dominating aliens from coming and bodying the entire human race right? Lmao

trippersigs22
>>136236180

I think in the grand scheme of things they were in the right to attack the this BUT 1. Thats not really how that works. A son does not HAVE to grow up to be hit father and its downright evil to assume its ok to prosecute someone for the person they MIGHT be. 2. Doing what exactly? No one on that ship was ACTUALLY doing anything wrong or illegal other than maybe Evans.

Pilausky
>>136236180

They’re a cult on a ship in the middle of the ocean. How are the kids going to be anything else? As for wrongdoings…conspiracy to commit treason, aiding and abetting, harboring a fugitive, taxes being evaded from somewhere too

Antonio

I feel like we need to have a "Shock 101 " course for y'all. Yeah Salazar wasn't thinking clearly...not many people can see a kid's just lying on the floor and brush off the fact that they're responsible for the carnage. That happened like what, a week ago? Her perspective wasn't right but it was totally understandable. aaaaand we also need a "Mental Health" 101 course for y'all. Do you all realize how insane it feels to come face to face with aliens who have the power to blink the sky and cover the ENTIRE earth with a massive reflective object? Their entire understanding of the world, and more importantly, their place in it has not simply been shaken but totally deconstructed at the most fundamental lesson. Replace aliens with Gods and it's basically the same idea. Evil gods are coming and you didn't believe in them. 400 year years, 10 years or however lngo doesn't matter. The point is, they're screwing with the planet now and they needed an immediate out, which was taking their own lives.

Alex Omega

The Heartless Trio Strike Again. I love to see it.

trippersigs22
>>136236180

1. You know people leave cult rights? 2. none of those things are crime punishable by murdering you children. Who on that boat did any of those things? Are you seriously saying you should just be ok with killing a bunch of children from the people they COULD grow up to be?

Alejandro Rodriguez

I don't get people who AREN'T annoyed by Auggie's character at this point, its WAR, no one's saying what she had to do was good but it's war for all humanity if you gotta do some heinous shit to win that's just what you gotta do.

Hasani101

I love your reactions, but respectfully think you guys are missing the point of Auggie as a character. I think she supposed to be kinda like the Oppenheimer character where her creation was used for an atrocity justified perhaps. that doesn’t change the fact that something that you put your whole entire life work into was used to kill a bunch of little kids you know. I think that would fuck anybody up.

Benji

Nahhh I disagree with Roshi on Auggie being annoying character. Some people aren't like Raj who was in military and can get easily accept what was done. She need time to process and grieve and be in denial of what she did. But what we see from her character and like most scientists in this show, they will stand right back up from what they went through and put their work and energy into science. Which is why at the end of episode you see her come to terms with her decision and go help rest of team with the mission.

Phillie

Thank God I wasn’t the only one finding everyone else fucking annoying and then everyone unnecessarily shitting on Raj, and for what? Like I get it was terrible to witness but they know the reason why it was done and they’re acting like it was just for the sake of killing.

Frederick

“We get dirty and the world stays clean. That’s the mission.” - Captain Price

Shiroja

What do you look like? You won't like it... pans to Pepe the frog and evil Kermit

PrinceHill

Imo yall gotta chill on Auggie her being mad is valid af especially since she came around when it mattered both times. No one told her she would be killing hundreds of kids, she's not military and she clearly cares a lot about other human lives which is why she invented her nanotech in the 1st place. Idgaf what the reason is no normal person is just gonna be able to immediately accept killing that many children and act like shit is ok. Now she has to live with the image of a severed childs leg in her mind and the guilt that her life's work, which she originally created to save lives is what caused it like hell nah nigga. She still came around in the end also when a lot of niggas definitely would've offed themself from something like that cant be mad at that

Pilausky
>>136236180

Dear sir/madam please explain why children indoctrinated from birth with no possible chance of outside influence would try to leave. Then explain how ANYONE would escape the ship. No here I’ll do it for you. You want them to 1) gather allies 2)have no one report you 3) plan an escape 4) not get caught planning 5) execute some tactical espionage action to sneak onto a supply ship/helicopter 6) not get caught leaving said vehicle 7)not get tracked down after and most of all, do all this WITHOUT THE NIGH-OMNISCIENT ALIEN OVERLORD KNOWING. The classical punishment for treason is death. I’m not even going to bother defining conspiracy, A&B and harboring for you.

Dark Shogun

I think Auggie is against Wade so much because he'll do ANYTHING to beat the San-Ti. She's basically like, human's will loss their humanity to defeat the enemy. Seriously though, a normal person participating in the literal butchering of kids is not going to be alright.

KenthalasAT

I'm glad it wasn't just me getting really annoyed with Auggie. Maybe it's the fact that I'm former military, but man. You kill the enemy. You protect your own. Everything else is details.

Desert Penguin
>>136242960

But what about the first time you actually end another person's life. Is there anything for that like there is for law enforcement? It shouldn't be taken lightly.

KenthalasAT
>>136242960

I'm not saying take it lightly, exactly. I'm saying it's justified. And Auggie's behavior is not.

Matthew Barrett
>>136239689

In the books there are no little kids on that boat. D&D added them in for shock factor and frankly its fucking stupid

Matthew Barrett
>>136235603

Most of the characters on this show suck - they're wooden and one dimensional. Does anyone give a shit about the empty romance between Jin and Will? I sure don't

SupremeCai

Auggie is a fat L. Thankfully she's not in the books afaik so I'm still looking forward to reading em. But I know some dumbass character gonna have that pov of 'it's not our problem it's the futures problem!'

Matthew Barrett

Sheera is right, it doesn't make any goddamn sense. A threat 400 years from now would not have people freaking out as depicted; we can't even get people to give a shit about climate change and that's a much closer danger. Typical D&D shennanagins

Hasani101
>>136239689

Fair enough if you find it stupid but that’s not the context here the characters are reacting to that information. So it makes more sense her character would be torn up about it. But I get it maybe not a necessary addition to the story

Matthew Barrett
>>136244481

If you can turn your brain off and / or know very little about physics, the books can be fun. If you're like me who loves science you'll find yourself asking How??? So many times throughout the book that you'll just end up putting it down

ERRORCODE616

Yes, world-dominating aliens are coming to kill them all, but committing atrocities in the name of having an advantage against them is supposed to carry a lot of weight. It might seem like the obvious choice to people like Wade and Raj whose job is national defense and war. But to the average person, putting a gun to the head of thousand people, many of whom are innocent indoctrinated, isn't supposed to be presented like an easy choice. It's not something everyone can move past so easily. Like y'all said, therapy should have been mandated for everyone involved. But it wasn't, so it fucked Auggie up. Untreated PTSD is fucking ugly. This show is doing a very good job of making the viewer think of how they'd react given the choices of the main cast. And how uncomfortable the discussions around those choices would be.

LeFlaneur

I agree with Young Justice comment. The San-Ti either look like Megan in her original form or like Lor-Zod with the comb over dreads.

Uriel Batuk

I, too, do not like Auggie. Some people accept the trade-off of some of their humanity and comfort so that most people are comfortable living their lives. When regular people learn what they do to keep conflict and these kinds of responsibilities away from them, they want to judge their character. It was an invasion before the San-Ti learned about lies, and now they want to genocide human life. Without killing people on that ship, Mike Evans could have made more lies to create worse fanatics, and people would probably not know about the incoming genocide. Would you let people kill your family just to say you are better than them? Auggie's moral high ground pisses me off.

Desert Penguin

32 minutes in. Sheera. That's the thing. You don't know what you're going to be like after the fact. Taking a life is a serious thing that weighs on the conscience. The show could've done a better job of explaining the difference between Auggie a civilian and Raj a military man who is desensitized to things like this. In the conversation with Jin he could've at least said he understands it's not right what with the kids onboard but somehow rationalizing it.

Drake Rage

4:21 Ye Wenjie: *Contacts Alien* Pacifist Alien: You are lucky I was the first one to see your message. DO NOT contact us again, because we will come, we will conquer you, and you WILL NOT like it. You are all bugs. Ye Wenjie: *Surprise Pikachu face*

Zion Noland

Auggie annoying me with her isssue with Raj. Like ma’am he is a SOLDIER. That’s literally what he does. He follows orders. He has to kill people. It might be less people cause he in the Navy but it’s still there.

Anorak

Obviously terrible things have to be done in the name of the survival of the human race. Doesn’t mean whoever is doing them is automatically not going to be fucked up by it. Though I agree lol Auggie doesn’t need to take it out on everyone else ts was a bit annoying.

Anorak
>>136244890

There was a massive fucking eye in the sky and every single screen started saying YOU ARE BUGS. I’d be freaking tf out too 😂😂

Gilthwixt
>>136244890

Yeah you're comparing apples to oranges. People don't give af about climate change because it happens on a scale too subtle at a speed too slow for the Average Joe to appreciate. That's a stark contrast with reality as you know it being turned upside down in real time right in front of you.

GrandNubian

i hope Auggie catches a bullet to the brain before the series ends

Gilthwixt
>>136238764

They got me fucked up thinking what happens next episode is happening in this one 💀

Anorak
>>136250587

But I totally agree with Jin. Soldiers are affected by atrocities, ptsd is a thing even if said atrocity absolutely had to happen. But Raj is so robotic about massacring children.

GrandNubian
>>136244890

How much does the average person know about what’s going on? Does the average person know the aliens are 400 years away?

Patrone07

My First Ever Shout-out to Sheera great Job you look like you lost some weight you look healthy and beautiful also digging the hair style

GrandNubian
>>136241266

My problem with Auggie isn’t that she’s traumatized by the deaths of young children — my problem with Auggie is her holier-than-thou attitude. She literally thinks she’s better than other people and that was evident from the way she treated Saul and even Jack long before the Judgement Day incident. Then she becomes the Queen of Hypocrisy towards Raj and Wade. GTFOH. I hope she catches a bullet to the brain before the series ends

GrandNubian
>>136239689

Auggie would have reacted the same way if the boat would have been filled with only hardened adult terrorists — she doesn’t want to get her hands dirty in any way

GrandNubian

If Auggie thought the San-Ti were arriving in her lifetime, she’s be singing an entirely different tune. It seems like she doesn’t *really* give a fuck about fighting back because she figures she and everyone she knows will be long dead before it’s a problem. She only joined Jin at the end out of friendship

Patrone07

I don't think its about Love or ruining a friendship it's about speaking your peace before you die I don't think he truly thinks he's gonna get with her or be her man just my opinion

PrinceHill
>>136241266

Bro that's not a holier than thou attitude that's literally PTSD lmao. She's literally been getting traumatized since episode 1 when that timer popped up. Imagine you work your entire life to create an invention and as soon as it's finished you can't use it because you receive a fucking timer counting down unless you stop working on it. Then when you can finally use the thing you originally made to save lives again the first thing it gets used to do is slaughter hundreds of children. If anything its impressive af she's still sane and not suicidal plus she's even willing to work with Wade after him and Raj refused to tell her that she would have hundreds of kids blood on her hands. I'd be mad at them too tf lmao

PrinceHill
>>136241266

AND she literally risked her life when the detective originally asked her to turn on her invention again after the timer shut off the first time and it was almost at 0. She hasn't caught a break the entire series but she is still helping everyone out idk wtf else yall expect her to do tbh

Jazko

Auggie may be stupid but she still fine as hell.

Tay

there was zero empathy from Roshi and the gang for the characters this episode lol. If you take a second to process what they are going through their behavior makes perfect sense. and Saul and Auggie just wanted someone they love to not die with regrets or leave anything unsaid. i dont see how yall got mad at them for telling him he should go to London and confess. even if he chose not to in the end he didnt make the choice out of fear and thats important.

Teyon Alexander

Auggie had a very real reaction to killing a bunch of people- kids included. You may think you’d be fine killing kids “for the greater good” but until you’re in that situation, you have no clue how you’d react. She murdered them and for what? To stop them working with the aliens only to find out the aliens already stopped working with them? Making the entire endeavor basically pointless since Wade already assumed they were hostile. Like the only thing achieved was getting confirmation that the aliens don’t fuck with us and to get that she, not them - not some trained soldier prepared to take a life - SHE, a civilian, took the thing she hoped would better the planet and used it to murder a bunch of people kids included. I’d be fucked up about it too and very vocal that I want nothing more to do in the service of death. I played my part for humanity now find someone else.

Aleia

The whole "why care cause it's 400 years later", I don't get. Would it hit better if they said 100 years? You'd be gone but this grandkids would be alive through that. Would your wish that terrible end on them rather than trying to stop it for everyone altogether? Would that now be so stressful and so inevitable that you wouldn't want to have kids or continue on yourself? People have made these same decisions for way less alien invasion

Nate D.

"Why would people care" Some people's reality would shatter if we found proof of aliens, especially religious folk who believe we are special or chosen by God, to be shown as hopelessly behind by forces we can't comprehend or see is also terrifying Acting like finding proof that aliens are interacting with us and are actively hostile by most interpretation is just a nothingburger another Tuesday nobody would care is quite the take

Danger Tomato

Anyone start watching baby reindeer?

Drake Rage

29:40 Nah, I think Saul wants to support his friend no matter what, and is coming from a positive place, wishing for his friend to finally confess to the girl he is madly in love with. But Auggie.. I feel like she just wanted to fk up Jin's relationship cause of her issue with Raj. Its like she literally had a spork up her ass since the beginning of the show, with how bitter/shitty she has been the entire time, lol. (Remember how Auggie used to call Saul every time she needed help, even during the middle of the night? But then giving him no respect for even helping her out?)

Jerome Rogers

It would be crazy after 400 years they're no longer coming to fight because they realized they over reacted 300 years earlier and we already fucked up the planet out of panic beyond repair

A. P.

I don't think y'all properly placing yourselves in the shoes of these characters in some cases. For example, I gotta defend Auggie a little bit. She was devastated when she had to stop working on her nanofibers only to be able to go back to working on it and see her invention be used for something I'm sure she never would've allowed it to be used for under normal circumstances. It's the same thing we've seen with Howard/Tony Stark, and with Oppenheimer. How do you understand Oppenheimer's conflict in the film after the bombs were used but not understand Auggie's? I can't be mad at her for not wanting to kill more people after walking through the bodies of innocent mutilated children and knowing that it was you that made it possible. I respect her for going down to look at the wreckage as well. Imo it would be hypocritical not to do so. Like if you found out the president dropped bombs on entire villages but had never seen the devastation that the bombs cause. Of course it would be easier not to look, but it would also be inhumane. It makes sense that she'd be making decisions based on emotion rather than logic right now, or simply be reaching different logical conclusions than her peers given what she's seen.

>>136241266

@DelusionalNYC fax, most annoying character written in this entire show. Thank god she aint in the books

Flippy

caption had me thinking someone was bouta die lmao

I’m so glad I’m not alone in my frustrations at Auggie

Callum

the song at the end hurts so much more when you know what he's doing with the star

Maleny
>>136249773

Soldiers are not obligated or supposed to commit war crimes just because the boss told them to though. I get that disobeying puts them between a rock and a hard place, but "just following orders" hasn't worked as an excuse since Nuremberg.

Uni
>>136248439

This right here is the one thing folks tend to forcibly forget about that moment in episode 2 and I find that shit so funny its all coming to bite ye in the ass in the end.

Drey
>>136241266

People not understanding this 😂, like of course she gone be trippin for a lil bit it’s fresh in her mind

Derek Sanders

i understand auggie, in reality 98% of that ship didn't know about the scientist being killed or any of that. They just believed in a religion/cult, there's hundreds of religion all with different "proof" of their creator or w.e. So in real life if I knock on your door and say "my boss contacted a alien in the 50s and they said they're 400 years away and they're gonna coexist with us and help us with their technology, the San-Ti are our saviors" you'd shut the door lol and id have no proof since I'm not the 1%. so I respect them, they commit to they cause and chill on a boat, and then the military sliced them up lol. We cant be mad that they didn't shove their beliefs down our throat lol. also if he didn't tell that story and they felt how they felt after what would they're death be for?, its a weird plot hole or thread to later see cuz if they cant lie- they truly were coming here to help, until they found out we lie. But they were already killing scientist?

suzukiri

I don't get all the hate for Auggie. Any of you guys should be able to understand how detrimental killing a bunch of people and kids would be. Sheera didn't even want them to show the kids dying on screen, and then Roshi said they wouldnt dare do that anyway. You guys would absolutely crumple in that situation most likely, so imagine being the person responsible for actually killing them, just to find out after the fact the Aliens stopped working with them anyway. I get it's a show so it's very easy to be disconnected, because you are. But usually you guys are pretty good at putting yourselves in the others shoes. First off she had to stop her lifes work because she was on a death timer at one point, just to end up having to use it to kill in a way she never would have wanted. The comparison she made to Hiroshima was an accurate way to try to relay the feelings it's really not hard to see. Using pure logic and disregarding emotional impact is a surefire way to annoy yourself for no reason since it would logically be hard for anyway to remain logical and think "big picture" after having to disregard your morals in the way she has had too. She's a scientist, essentially a civilian and went from trying to help people to killing thousands.

ShaquanVirse

Fuck Auggie and her attitude like the world is at risk here - Put yo science hat on and get to work

ShaquanVirse

I learn Aliens coming in 400 Years? I'm chilling the hell! I'm with y'all 😂 - I'll donate to the make space nukes programs to fuck the aliens up though

suzukiri
>>136244890

People in our real world believe in various religions, the revelation that aliens even exist on a scale that they can interact with us real time would break most peoples minds and world view since everything they put faith into wasn't accurate. Secondly, the aliens actively went out of their way to make electronics malfunction, mirrored the sky, put a giant eyeball in the sky, wrote "you are bugs" insinuated that they are malicious. Now the arrival of the aliens in 400 years I would imagine is confidential, so if the majority of the population aren't privy to this obviously they would freak out. If they are privy to this information for some reason, it would still cause panic for the reasons i listed previously. So while you can say you wouldn't react as they did, and that's very valid and believable, it's also very believable that people would react in this manner. It does make sense, it just doesn't necessarily make sense to you because of your world view being different. The comparison to climate change is not equivalent because it does not have the same effect as there being a literal other lifeform equal or surpassing humans with the intent to wipe out the race.

suzukiri
>>136239433

it doesn't just not effect you anymore because it's war is the other pov. And then yes you can say "shake it off who cares" or any other variation that's more or less sympathetic but the reality is, Auggie is a civilian whose life work was used to kill thousands of people. Among them kids and people who were indoctrined into believing they were lords coming to save them. That can't be understated

Vladimyr Blue

I think Raj could have had a better conversation with Jin. From what he said it makes him seem heartless and cold. He could have at least explained it is part of his training to be able to compartmentalise his emotions and his duty. Raj could also try and understand Jin and Auggie perspective as civilians the same way they could try and understand his as a soldier. Civilians aren’t trained in the way soldiers are killing thousand is horrific, especially when a good chunk are kids. Ultimately I am just unfortunately not shocked Roshi and them feel the way they do. They have not and are likely to never be in any situation a fraction similar to this. So they aren’t looking at the cost of life and how that affects mental and emotional wellbeing. They are simply thinking like Wade in that the enemy is coming let’s do something now even if it means killing thousands upon thousands. They just can’t empathise and didn’t seem to care to try.

Drake Rage
>>136263949

What's hypocritical is that she doesn't care about the coming human annihilation in 400 years, because she thinks its more important to.... focus on the present...? So billions of actual innocent human lives don't matter to her, but the 1000 traitors to humanity dying because we had no other option.. is unforgivable? Like this would make sense if she was supposed to be a bumbling idiot character.. but she is supposed to be smart.. Yes, it sucks for her nanofibers to be used for this, but she needs to understand it was something that had to be done, they would have sabotaged the data if given the chance. Auggie is not the only one having a hard time, we were told that a lot of people are killing themselves, all the rioting, the chaos everywhere, and all the scientists/researchers suffering from the Aliens "killing" Science, preventing us from doing new research, since the sophons will keep messing up the results of our experiments. Raj has to literally leave the fricken planet and go to the Moon to try to build ships.. thats dangerous, and most probably a 1-way ticket, realistically. Jin and many others will have to put their own lives on hold, and are the ones worthy of respect, for choosing to actively devote their entire lives just to TRY to give Humanity a chance of survival. Considering all this, and the fact that Auggie is supposed to be one of the smartest people on Earth.. her attitude is undeniably shitty.

A. P.

Btw if I see an eye open up in the sky and learn that it's an alien computer that has wrapped itself around earth or some shit... lets just say I've had an existential crisis over FAR less, I didn't sign up for this San-ti bullshit lol

Zero

What is the caption referring?

A. P.
>>136263949

You can say that because you're on the outside looking in instead of being in her position or headspace (which is currently not great). The only point I was making and still stand by is that her attitude is undeniably human. She has no reason to trust Wade, she's upset and feels guilty about what she's done, and given her experience it makes sense that she wants to warn her friends against trusting him. Also, even the smartest people in the world are no less prone to making the same logical/ethical/moral/emotional misjudgements that you and I often make in far less stressful circumstances. Is she trippin? Maybe... is she wildin? Nahh

Near

Alright, I guess I'm cold or whatever but I really can't say I care that much about Will and his situation and love story and all that. It's cool he convinced Auggie (extremely annoying btw with all that stupid reasoning she's making), but like.... that's it. I don't care seeing him walking on beaches and seeing imaginary boats on the water, or talk with Saul (also kinda annoying character) about some stupid shit. I hope we won't be seeing him and Saul that much going forward.. unless Saul decides to stop chilling and maybe contribute with something. I wonder if in the book it's like this too...

Rowan Padya
>>136263949

Bro, I see your point but if I was Auggie and I’m in her situation. I would be pissed at the aliens for fucking with my head AND killing one of my best friends. And on top of that they had been killing other scientists for a while now and are actively trying to stop humanity from growing as a species. And then I find out that there’s humans helping the aliens and doing the actual killing. They don’t care at all for human life. The situation they are in is literally extinction level and the people on that ship have chosen a side. And she shouldn’t be so naive as to think her invention won’t be used for killing. The first thing I thought when I saw it cut the diamond was how dangerous it is. How many wars are being waged right now today against other humans? This is the most important war in human and history and very well be the last one. I’m sorry but I don’t care about the people on that ship. It’s very sad the kids had to die and I’m sure they could’ve come up with a better plan if they had more time but there are kids dying every day in tragic wars and I don’t see anyone running to help or trying to stop these wars from happening, not really.

Samke Dladla

Not cold. The story does feel a little side showy. I've watched the full season so I know their purpose in the story so I'm not mad. I do still wish we didn't spend as MUCH time on Will.

A. P.
>>136263949

@Rowan If you watch or recall back, throughout the series Auggie has, in my opinion, one of the most realistic takes toward the situation concerning the aliens. I think her fear of them and her feeling of helplessness outweighs her anger, which again, is normal. At the end of the day, she still went through with using her invention to destroy the ship because she wanted to do her part due to all the reasons you mentioned above, but that doesn't change the fact that she wasn't told the truth about who was on the ship. The majority of them were simply brainwashed civilians. She has every reason and right not to trust or like Wade and want nothing to do with him. A good number of tools used in warfare were the result civilian inventions or discoveries that were later developed into weapons. You could even say Albert Einstein was victim to a similar form of naivety as well as many more before and after him. Your last statement I could write a book on lol I'll just say I'd never want to live in a world where there weren't people capable of foregoing having empathy in order to do what needed to be done, and I'd never want to live in a world where everyone was capable of putting aside empathy.

Bad Leftist
>>136346594

I feel you. The show definitely suffers from an "Eternals" problem where there's too many main characters to equally develop attachments. Books are usually better at doing this because written dialogue doesn't feel as forced or simply there to make sure these other characters get screen time. I say this even knowing how the season ends as well.

I watched that on a whim the other day just because. That show is.... something else lol.

Dune

Damn a lot of discourse about auggie in the comments lol. Here's my take. She's a scientist who wants to help people. I think it's easy for any of us who have never been in that position to be like STOP WHINING IT'S WAR AND WE GOTTA DO WHAT WE GOTTA DO, but put in her situation how many of us would not be completely fucked up and unable to really comprehend that something we made to help humanity was instead used to kill people. Now I agree that she was definitely being annoying in this episode but not in a way that's not understandable. She's trying to deal with what happened and her part in it. Also on a side note I like will as a character. He's just a guy who's like fuck im just gonna relax and enjoy whatever is left of my life. The others I don't really care for but will is definitely my favorite.

Kevin

First off great reaction! For me the show definitely starts to drag around these last couple episodes, and I too was tired of how long we stayed with Will and Auggie. Feels like the show coulda been maybe 6-7 episodes instead of 8. However slowness aside yall still being a bit weird again with Auggie lol. The idea that “yea it’s a war for humanity” doesn’t make what you have to do to secure humanity any easier. Just because it’s what required of us doesn’t automatically make a person capable. Even today there’s tons of soldiers who have talked about what taking a life has done to their mental and how it fucks them up. And now here you have Auggie, a civilian scientist who has to come to terms with not just murder but the fact that she’s becoming a pawn in wades schemes. Not to mention she probably still has to process that two of her friends just died, she just had a death timer, the mother of her dead best friend is a cult leader, one of her other friends is currently dying, she almost got kicked out the country, and she doesn’t even have her partner to rely on. Like give her a fucking break. But I mean I guess yall and everyone else in the comments just built different 🤷🏾‍♂️. Also, as people have pointed out as well. Getting confirmation of the existence of aliens is one thing but physically seeing it yourself and finding out they can interact with you. People would lose it. Think about the hysteria of people throughout the years: Y2K, the pandemics, 2012. And none of those compare to a giant fucking eyeball calling you a bug. A bit of fear in the air and people go crazy. Plus, because people are people as time goes by of course they’ll forget and keep going about their day when there’s not another earth shaking event but the initial reaction they had is understandable.

Yeah, tbh though, even with more screentime or whatever, I still don't think I would've cared about the whole thing with Will and Saul. I get it yeah it's sad and whatever, but there's so many more interesting things to focus on in the setting than a guy that's about to die and his love story and some other guy that does absolutely nothing in the story lol. Everything shown has to have some meaning, or contribution, and tie in to the main story. Watching Will helps with 0. Unless of course in the later episodes the aliens see him and feel sad so they leave or something lmao.

Its funny because watching their TLOU2 streams, they have very different reaction to almost the same choice. They were against killing Ellie to experiment on her to find a cure but understand why a entire school of children had to die for information. Its actually funny asl because this show has the aliens killing scientist so they wont advance, and Joel killed that doctor (the only one alive who could do the operation), to save Ellies life, dooming humanity to never find a cure. Raj is a miltary man who had to kill all those people because "its war, us vs them!" but when Abby dads didn't asked Ellie permission to kill her for the surgery, roshi and sheera was not with that lol it shouldn't been "its ellie or the entire human population survival"

>>136239689

Probably not to the same degree as seeing your invention to help humanity used to murder children, but yeah. Seeing people die in the name of science or progress or what have you and you have a direct hand in it can really mess you up. Not wanting to get your hands dirty by killing more people is an understandable reaction.

Ayoken007
>>136242960

But Auggie ISN'T military. Nobody would be nor SHOULD be ok after watching your invention shred a bunch of adults and kids that were just laughing and living moments before. They did what they had to do to get vital information, but it was still horrific violence enacted in a way that hasn't been seen before and on that scale.

Ayoken007
>>136244890

The news did say that the threat was 400 years away, but everything else you say still stands in my estimation.

KenthalasAT
>>136242960

There's a difference in not being okay with something, and actively working against saving your own species because you're angy.

matt i

she might be annoying but i think auggie's pov is needed to show both sides of humanity. it's easy for us to have that kinda foresight to know who's "wrong" or "right" but in the heat of the moment, we really won't know what we'd do\

matt i
>>136256952

yeah i think they forget sometimes that these are supposed to be real ppl processing real emotions lmao not everybody has to be rational and logical all the time

MonarchXIII

I know it's been said already in the comments but wow. The lack of sympathy for Auggie from y'all three is wild lol. You can't just tell her to "get back in there for the good of humanity". She's literally traumatised from that event. It's also not as simple as "she shouldn't of done it then". It's easy for us as viewers to say one thing but to actually be in her shoes is another entirely tbh. Just because you're at war with aliens doesn't mean you should automatically be okay with killing people regardless of if they're innocent or guilty nor does it justify anything. I agree that you gotta do what you gotta do but you don't got to be okay about it.

Eliana
>>136443883

I’m like??? The girl literally killed kids, nobody is just coming back from that okay.

Jigga Man
>>136443883

It's not a lack of sympathy. If there was no other looming larger threat to worry about after this, fine. Wallow in your sorrow. However there is legit an alien race on their way to kill every last one of us and you're in your feelings about morals and what ifs. She's legit putting her feelings over the future of humanity which is such a damn good mirror to Wenjei. Two sides of the same coin in this particular instance.

Frith the Storyteller

Nah Auggie is stupid. That cult betrayed humanity to literal extinction, and also murdered one of her closest friends. On top of that, what gives her the right to berate and put down her friends who are working on solutions to save humanity? You don't want to be involved and wallow in your own self pity? fine, but don't come at others with your holier-than-thou attitude who are stepping up to the plate.

Drake Rage
>>136461289

Exactly, feeling terrible for what she had to do is completely understandable.... but she is lashing out at others trying to save humanity.. and her excuse for not helping: "everybody we know and love will be dead long before the Aliens come in 400 years"... without even realizing how utterly terrible that makes her... Like that is so much worse than killing 1000 traitors to humanity because we HAD to, to get info about the Aliens without any of them sabotaging the data. She is okay with billions of humans dying but thinks she has the moral high ground, lmao. Like that is not her grief talking, that is her being a terrible ass person.

Godrick

Naaah if you have 400 years it makes WAAAY more sense to just do the long hard work of figuring out better and more reliable propulsion, instead of using up all your nuclear weapons in a risky stunt. Spending trillions of dollars and your best weapons on a 1-time picture of the fleet, or trillions of dollars and 5% of your total prep time (20 years) to get a scientific experiment that will create new technology that lets you go to 1% light speed whenever you want? I know it's a show so we'll do the flashy thing, but I think they should've written the show in a way that it just does multi-decade time skips between seasons because that's what's realistic and this show has been very realistic so far.

whoozzat
>>136476237

The thing is it may not be with the San Ti potentially sabotaging the research. That's the whole reason why they were trying to find a way to propel to 1% light speed with existing tech

halsa

ik one of the longer series are probs gonna start after this (topboy better be it 🤣) but i lowkey wish they check out the gentlemen series its short and funny + would be a nice transition into similar aspects of topboy

halsa
>>136490973

plus i just wanna see how they find some of the characters 😭😭

halsa
>>136490973

tbf it is two different genres so I didn’t really expect this show to be cracking jokes left right and centre, but it’s still a good watch

Arsean Wilbon

lmao the trio act like they are so with the smoke. Auggie just built the worlds greatest cheese grater that murdered innocent lives, but she's an L character cause she no longer wishes to participate in helping out especially against a threat 400 years away, which lets be real y'all wouldn't help do nothing either. Roshi forsure would be like yeah not my problem, cause he pulls the yeah not my problem in all the other shows lmao. Funny ass take love the reactions.

JadonTheEternal
>>136490973

bro yes, I've been saying the gang needs to watch the Gentlemen, its super good and I am sure they would love it. this show is great and all, but the vibe of The Gentlemen would be great for reacting

halsa
>>136490973

I agree perfect show for a reaction, let’s hope they see the comments of others asking for it !!

Rowan Padya
>>136263949

I see what you’re saying. All very good points. And I wouldn’t want to live in a world without empathy either but we kind of live in one now. The things we do to each other all around the world are inhumane. I hope we can be better in time. Thanks for the reply.

Hueki Yuuki
>>136553675

Yea it wouldn't be Roshi's problem cuz he's not the one that developed actual working nano-technology that can be used intrinsically with basically everything from medicine to technology. It's her job to develop it even further, to the maximum possible, even more so now that LITERAL murdering aliens are coming to our planet to kill everyone lol. Yet she's turned into a trash character because she can't boohooboo " i killed traitors to humanity that would've killed us happily for their lord, and raised kids to do the same or worse ".

Arsean Wilbon
>>136553675

its not her job though. Where's the contract that says it is? Y'all are not tough lol. People watching shows saying they would do this and that no you wouldn't. You think you have what it takes to take a life but no you don't lmao y'all funny man, you would of saw a 8 year old innocent kid get swiss cheesed and probably spiraled into guilt.

Eliana
>>136553675

No fr like be fucking fr. All the times these 3 say they ain’t doing shit to help no one but themselves, and now they salty that Auggie doesn’t want to help the world 😫

Antonio

kill aii the kids because things are coming to erth in 400 years i got you

Gabriel Souza

Usually i dont like characters like Auggie but here i agree with her, she's right

Michael M
>>136476237

The San-Ti are ruining further research, so they wouldn't be able to make any new inventions over the next 400 years

Koosha Mokhbery
>>137955660

"Man found guilty of organizing "hunger game" for kids; Claims Netflix convinced him it was the only way to save the world" lmao.

JDGreen
>>136553675

It’s easy when it your life vs their life if your admitting you would just roll over and die when someone threatens you or the people you care about then damn you kinda a trash human

Leo

Nah auggie was definitely spittin that being said I would 100% pull the trigger on a plan like that regardless so even though it's horrible wade is doing what's necessary.
