This episode really hit with the whole explanation of the adaptation process! It feels like it’s impossible not to see complaints about adaptations and how things are different whether it be Mushoku Tensei, Classroom of the Elite, Invincible, Slime, MCU etc. I think there’s always a balance that can be done with making something for TV and also retaining the majority of content. Also I’m so eager to see their reactions to when they adapt where the Oshi no ko manga is rn 💀

I missed this show because they're constantly giving us different perspectives about different media outlets. I would only have basic reasons for why certain adaptions of writing would change drastically such as time and money but there really are a lot of variables aside from those things that goes into adapting things well for the sake of the consumer.

So I'm not sure if you noticed, but Akane is rehearsing for / cast as Princess Saya, and Kana is Tsurugi -- but in the beginning of the episode, in the flash forward to the actual stage play performance, the roles are switched. I thought I was tripping for a good ten minutes lmao. My prediction is Akane either ends up outshining Kana and lands the "main" role of Tsurugi, or the rewrites fully alter the story in a way that makes them suited for each other's characters? Idk.

The part about the adaptation of the source material in a different medium reminds me of the Mushoku tensei conversation about how people are always bringing up the LN especially with the whole Roxy and Rudy fiasco and how we don’t always get the same context in the anime

There was a REALLY great one called "act age". Their theater arc was just as EPIC as oshi no ko's. I read that a few years before this one, and I was giddy seeing another dope theater arc. Something about theater arcs in manga, just done so damn well. But alas, the catch here is that "act age"'s author got arrested way back cause the police "heard he likes them young"---

Skip beat was one of my firsts. Like im pretty sure that it was the first manga i ever read, way back. The physical copy too! I LOVE skip beat so much, and it definitely sparked my love for manga/anime/shows/movies/etc about actors. Despite it being an old shoujo, the author really stocks with making our main female lead be the go getter/careerwoman that she should be lol. Just not something i see often in shoujo, so much so that a whole different genre would have that (josei). Reading about kyoko and her relationships but most importantly her journey to become a great actress are so fun. (Yes this old ass series is still going on last i checked, which is weird, cause most of todays technology is too futuristic lol). There was also a 24 ep anime that aired way back. And a jdrama too i think?

Another one i would highly recommend is Glass mask. Probably even older than skip beat, but dammmmn that shit was good. Also i think its much more theater focused. I dont about the manga tho, i just watch the anime.

Yeah it's a tragedy but also understandable since he releases a new novel every 4 months, so he probably wants his full attention to be on that. A lot of series don't even release a new novel every year. If he did get more involved in the adaptation then a lot of people's complaints for the series would go away.

The series was Act Age and a lot of its fans were happy that Oshi no Ko basically took up the torch after the fiasco with that series.
