Green Camero

These uploads make my college life 10 times better

Ale

Roshi has been converted into Laios, talking about seasoning Falin lmao.

KomodoughDragon

Noting down "jerk chicken falin" for the future dunmeshi cookbook

itsfidy

Neat little detail, when Shuro's retainer Maizuru (the black haired girl with the white robes) is revived, she doesn't have her makeup on like before because of how the resurrection works. its just kinda cool how much attention to detail the show is doing.

KomodoughDragon

Amazing character development in this episode. Worldbuilding and character-building in this show are unmatched. Every character is so fleshed out, has a reason for being where they are and doing what they do, and it's so clearly telegraphed. This is also probably the moment where Kabru became one of my favourite characters.

Keondodge

I keep thinking "someone actually died" and then realized it ain't gna happen. It felt like a massive plot device at first but at the the way it's told to us or even utilized in the lore doesn't make it seem that bad. Considering how dark this show can be to black resurrection magic and how Fallin should have been dead I wouldn't be surprised if they actually "killed" characters in the future permanently. Recommendation Comment #23 World trigger Dan machi Zetsuen no tempest -The other 3 are much shorter with 12-13 eps?: My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 Wotakoi: love is hard for otaku Yamada-kun and the 7 witches Boarding School Juliet -And for a movie: The anthem of the heart

Stephen D

I didn't get a single notifications for any of these shows and they were uploaded almost 40 minutes ago.

Tuny kun

I was playing BG3 when this came out so I could easily see the dnd board version of this fight while this was playing out lol. Man, such a cool scene.

Fizzy

Yeah Kabru defo my fav character he just the complete opposite of Laois well versed in killing and analysing humans, but sucks at killing monsters

Didier
>>149273995

The author of this manga is actually a huge DnD and Baldur's Gate's fan. She finished the manga just in time to start playing BG3.

Aniki Pft

I think people give Laios too much shit because he isn't "normal" I wouldn't even say he's carefree, he just processes things differently than most.

Sekraan
>>149272908

The size of these comments is annoying and makes me want to not read either your show-relevant comment or check out your recommendations.

Keondodge
>>149272908

Then don't read it? No ones stopping you. And if you never watched those before, then you still won't with or without my comment there.

Boogie's Games

Bro the way Falin came in and damn near folded the whole squad not only that but still being able to use her magic is broken asf

Nick Vaughn

I’m about to pull a Shannon Sharpe on monster Falin…

Cristian.A

I think Laios is autistic.

Quintin

Cool detail that we see Kabru take off his armour while talking to Laios and Marcille so he could sneak up behind Falin without the noisy plates on him.

DANIEL PEREZ
>>149277628

he is not even crunchyroll had a interview with the author and it was stated that laios isn't in any kind of spectrum he just himself in his own weird way just like how senshi dislikes magic but is willing to break his "morals" to grow food in the golems or even try to befriend a monster that was about to kill him

E

my interpretation is kabru is thinking long term. like yeah take down the dungeon lord but then what. he doesn't believe Laois is thinking about the consequences for humans and that he cares too much about monsters

Sekraan
>>149272908

It's still annoying even if I don't read it. It seems like others feel the same way. If you are actually trying to persuade anyone maybe reconsider your approach.

Eric Diaz

Laios is probably one of the best representations of autism in media, even if he isn't meant to be😭

YungZeus

Oh, I love how patreon doesn’t notify me for dungeon meshi, gotta be one of my favorite genders 🙏

Sekraan
>>149277628

I think it's a fair reading of the character. Doesn't matter what the author intended. Funnily enough, there's a book series where the number of autistic readers identifying with the main character made the author realize that she had it herself (The Murderbot Diaries. Great series btw). Not saying that's happening here; just that you can unintentionally write an autistic character.

Pai-Sal

Them harpy shows up: . Roshi: the Breast is the best part! LMAO

Keondodge
>>149272908

Then that seems like a you problem if that alone easily annoys you. Even when others argued to me about it at least they gave actual reasons or even made it look reasonable instead of just "it's annoying". If it makes you feel better they even convinced me a good bit.

KingdorismHD

I think what kabru meant was "see you on season 2"

Ren Lichtfoot

I don't like how they made the one black dude 2 faced a.f. REAL GEMINI ENERGY ION LIKE IT (sorry for the strays geminis lol)

DyingIsGay
>>149277628

Come on now, based on every Ryoko Kui interview we know she prefers to leave things up to the reader. All of her answers are basically "oohhhh I dunno, could be couldn't be".

Pan Cakes
>>149279093

bro is part of the weird side of the fan base 😭 thinking fan theorys are real

Pan Cakes

Aint no way some people think fan theory's are canon 😭, please don't turn this series into another MHA fanbase. keep those theories to yourself 😭. if the author already said NO to those theories then that means no.

Isaac

Wew chile, this episode was bonkers. And yeah, this specific episode with that argument with Shuro solidified the majority of the fandom to consider Laios is probably autistic which is why his behavior is so strange with things a normal person would freak over( Honestly, it can be chalked up to anime personality whackiness but people really vibe with the autistic Laios thing) . Like seriously his first genuine thought about seeing his monster sister was how cool she looked THEN he properly was shocked by the situation. Shuro doing that whole "I was dropping hints because I fuckin' hate you" bullshit is what people do too much instead of being upfront. Laios, being how he is, would never pick up on it. He really thought y'all were cool and you put this on him like he's suppose to feel bad for annoying you? Yeah, get slapped in your face man. Really loved this episode.

Isaac
>>149288043

You can't stop fandom fancanons, dude. This is one of those death of the author situations where if the majority come to the same consensus of something of the media, it's practically canon at that point.

Isaac
>>149279093

@Pan Cakes I bet you think every male character is hetero without them ever being in canon relationship with a girl too, right?

Guns

Now i get it. This is a dark story, but from a perspective of an acoustic person 😂

Pan Cakes
>>149288043

it aint the majority its literally just a small loud minority of western twitter. no one in the japanese twitter fanbase even talks about those fan theories 😭

Guns

Kabru has a silent dangerous type of aura

Isaac
>>149288043

Oh so if they're small why are you so worried? You don't have anything to worry about if it's just small ... but here you are crying about it hm ...

Isaac

Need more great black anime characters like Kabru. Never enough of em in anime I fear.

Orlandez Malone

The nigga playing piano in the beginning was going off!! lol

Delinda Arts

Kabru plugged shawty up with the speed lmao

KomodoughDragon

Here come the people upset about fan headcanons again. There's a large group of autistic readers/viewers who identify with Laios, including his voice actor in the dub. He is good rep even if he wasn't written explicitly to be autistic, and no one's forcing the theory on anyone else. I'm also just convinced that the reason why people rally so hard against this headcanon is because they view autism as some big huge "bad" thing instead of, y'know, just one characteristic of a person. And probably also because most TV media portrays autism as a sole defining trait of characters instead of bothering to make characters complex. In a similar vein, it's also why I think people rally so hard against the Farcille headcanons but that's a whole other issue. And before anyone comes in here with the "but Kui said...!" stuff--that's why it's a headcanon! Because it isn't confirmed! It literally would not be FANon if it were explicitly canon. Let people enjoy things the way they enjoy them, damn.

Boogie's Games

Safe to say Chilchuck def picked the wrong group shoulda went with Laios and them 💀💀💀

Isaac
>>149293991

That's why I counter strike their asses about them doing the same by subconsciously assuming characters are hetero.

Fobbles

I haven’t seen the episode yet so I don’t get why people are fighting about him being autistic or not. But if he represents them well then I don’t see why we gotta shut them down. Personally I always saw him as ADHD. Because much of what he does, I do.

Barion

Obligatory 'Senshi had one job' comment: protect Shuro's food. And he stood on business throughout all this madness until he could serve it. 2 Parties get nearly wiped out but Senshi will stand firmly and let no food get spoiled and uneaten. :D

KomodoughDragon
>>149293991

Subconsciously, but also sometimes very consciously and intentionally. There's a lot of overjustification that happens against headcanons. "Laios is 'normal', he's just awkward," "Marcille and Falin are just close friends, that's just how girl friends are," etc. etc. Far beyond a subconscious assumption that characters are straight and/or neurotypical. It's forced arguing over a headcanon that doesn't affect anyone watching, they are just often deeply uncomfortable with the suggestion that characters could potentially deviate from the "norm", which ALSO isn't ever confirmed.

Rize 88
>>149293991

While I do like the autism angle, I do take issue in how some fans take the 'Laios is autistic' viewpoint and judge Shuro for being 'ableist' in their fight. Like, that feels unfair to his character to me.

Dutchy
>>149284347

he ain't even two faced he's just level headed. at the beginning he helped calm shuro down so laois could keep his head on his neck

KomodoughDragon
>>149293991

Oh I don't think Shuro is ableist at all--at least not intentionally. That's kind of a weird viewpoint for me and I don't know how anyone who's read the manga or watched the show could think that. Shuro just obviously comes from a very different culture where reading the room is incredibly important, and Laios is awful at reading the room, so they inevitably clash over that. It'd be another situation entirely if Shuro was making fun of Laios for it or trying to make his life difficult, but that's not what's happening. Shuro also just seems too stubborn/"polite" to speak up, and so it's also largely his own fault for not making an effort to communicate with someone who has obvious communication difficulties.

Theo Vorster
>>149293991

Kui also didn't even shoot down the popular fan headcanons/interpretations, she just said she didn't intentionally write the characters specifically as the said common audience headcanons, but she also certainly didn't discourage people from having said interpretations.

Theo Vorster

Interesting bit of trivia (from bonus material that won't be adapted, so this isn't a spoiler), Maizuru (Shuro's head lead retainer) not only raised him as like a nanny, she is also the mistress of Shuro's father (one of those open-secret things, Shuro's father is basically the fantasy equivalent of a Japanese Feudal Lord). So Shuro has an incredibly awkward relationship with his family and retainers.

Pan Cakes
>>149293991

@KomodoughDragon The "Marcille and Falin are just close friends" is literally confirmed in the manga. In the succubus arc. Everyone loves some good yuri and the fanfic about them. But saying that their fanfic IS CANON is just weird, when in the story its been proven they are just close friends. Its going to head in the direction of the weirdos in the MHA fanbase that started sending hate because their "CANON" wasn't confirmed or put in the story.

Brandon Acevedo

Oni girl was only there for a short while, but you know she won a lot of people's hearts.

Pai-Sal
>>149279182

Right!? FYI if you don't know, they have whole playlist on YouTube.

Shawn Oxley

Mage turned her into a whole fromsoft boss

KomodoughDragon
>>149293991

So you're just outright spoiling stuff in the comments? Also the arc you're using as an argument quite literally doesn't disprove anything—you're either intentionally ignoring the context of the events & related extras, or you did not understand it. You're also literally doing the thing I said in my previous comment about intentionally arguing against a fan headcanon because you're uncomfortable with it. You should honestly just edit your comment to remove the spoiler or delete it. Not everyone watching this has read the manga.

Pan Cakes
>>149293991

Nothing is wrong with Yuri as I previously stated, you just did a failed attempt to do some twitter gymnastics that you are probably used to doing. There isn't even a spoiler because IT DOESNT even get brought up or have any sort of RELEVANCE to the story for it to be considered a spoiler. Do you even know what a spoiler means or are you just using the word without knowing.

Victor

I love that despite what is going on, Senshi always prioritizes the food first. My man was holding the food tray the whole time lol.

sotonye ogan

Bruh when Falin tried to pet the dog nigga but mf bit her and she just stomped him I resonated with her for that .

sotonye ogan

This is easily the best show of the year which its crazy cuz I almost didnt watch it cuz yall dropped the show and I just unconsciously assumed it was ass. Crazy lmao

>>149300218

I remember that, shuro's father tries to have some night with maizuru after drunk and brought a gift that maizuru likes Wich is a kitten, yeah he bought an odd one.

Hayaku Eon
>>149297029

It's a weird thing really. The author has written works with autistic characters before, and Laios is similar to said character. And honestly, he does act like it. But in an interview the author said that Laios is not autistic. She wrote him in a way that was normal to her. So this got people arguing. Some people took the quote at face value, saying that the author denied Laios being autistic. But others say that the sentence makes it seem that the author has some levels of autism, and she does not want people to look at Laios for his autistic traits only. Similar to how people with autism not wanting people to look/treat them different for being autistic.

BZD
>>149297029

I mean, regardless of what people say, the Author claimed he wasn’t autistic, and iirc the author had done a previous work with an actual autistic MC.

BZD
>>149291831

He struck me more as middle eastern. Honestly I don’t know why I never even considered him to be black lol.

Hayaku Eon
>>149293991

Also, believe that Kui said it in a way that dismisses the headcanon because she doesn't want people to look at Laios for his autistic traits only. I am slightly autistic, but I'd feel bad/offended if people treated me like I was mentally handicapped. Same thing with Laios, she doesn't want people to point at Laios and say, "look autism", like it was his sole defining trait.

BZD

Poor Marcille.

Hayaku Eon
>>149284347

Two faced? More like analytical and calm. He stopped Holm from randomly reviving people.

Hayaku Eon
>>149277628

I'd say not completely reject, but more like not wanting autism to be the sole trait people see in Laios. She did say that she wrote Laios in a way that's normal to her. She didn't TRY to make Laios autistic, because it's normal to her to think like Laios.

Hayaku Eon
>>149288043

I'd say not completely confirm it, but more like not wanting autism to be the sole trait people see in Laios. She did say that she wrote Laios in a way that's normal to her. She didn't TRY to make Laios autistic, because it's normal to her to think like Laios.

Isaac
>>149291831

He's still black regardless of background. I'm talking black just skin wise because we all know how bleached up a lot of "dark skin" characters are designed or how artists find dumb excuses like "lighting" to not make skin tone a deeper, richer brown.

Stephen D

Kabru wasted no time. He saw an opening and he took it.

WillGlacier
>>149306280

Wasn't that because his demon eye went berserk basically blinding the mf by showing flashes of attacks from multiple spots at the same time

WillGlacier

Idc what anyone says, Laios is a Neurodivergent Icon. He sees monsters and his hyper fixation kicks in (He just like me fr fr 😭)

Maleny

I was getting vibes earlier but now I really see why people with autism were claiming Laios.

Fizzy
>>149306280

I swear this shit literally got explained why he froze or are you just incapable of reading

Denickart

Roshi finally getting into the spirit of the show with this description

Yeah she reached out to him kinda gently like she was wanting to caress him, which showed she still had some compassion somewhere in there, but yeah once he bit her it was over.

>>149279093

Bro you meat riding this man all over the comment section 💀

Joe’s Strange Journey
>>149288826

One thing I want to say about this is that I think he’s a bit of the author’s dig on a thing in Japanese culture. The part where it’s the norm for people NOT to speak up and to NOT be forward/direct. It’s more acceptable for people to pick up on things through subtle social cues instead of outright expressing their feelings and saying “hey I don’t like you for this exact reason maybe we can work on that”. So the point is for him to be like this, and to show him figuring out that hey it’s kind of a shitty way to go about things because sometimes it’s just not going to cut it. I’m not saying people can’t dislike him for it or dislike that he did it, I’m just saying he was written that way on purpose to get a message across to people that do this (esp. in the author’s home country) (also there’s a lot of allegory and life-lesson/life-advice Imagery and dialogue throughout this series is why I say this) (also don’t mind me I’m yapping)

Ren Lichtfoot
>>149342964

Nah , I thought that too. Then people started flaming me for saying he had "two face energy" XD

this right here was why we fought do hard for yall to watch this cuz this shi gets serious 😂😂

Giyuu
>>149306280

Ohhhh okay.. so that guy that said I was incapable of reading was just being a dick? I’m anime only regardless of not being caught up they’re basically spoiling ?

YoungSalsa

I remember this ep came out & seeing a whole bunch of hate on Shuro so I was expecting Shuro to just be a complete dick for no reason After finally watching the episode for myself I can’t see what the hate was for??? Laios & Shuro both were in the right & in the wrong at moments They fought & got their anger out, then made up & went their separate ways with 0 bad blood between the 2. Heck, probably with a better relationship than they had beforehand What was the hate for?

Isaac
>>149401514

The hate for Shuro? Nobody likes a person who does the "I never liked you so I was being a dick at you so you'd go away" method of pushing someone away. Like if you don't like someone, be direct about it so we can understand where we're at in the relationship so nobody oversteps. But no he's here getting angry at Laios, offending him, trying to make Laios feel guilty about being annoying by letting him know this information ... way later, when he should have said something sooner. Nobody likes people who do that bs. Despite that, fortunately their relationship did turn out better despite the shitty choice Shuro made so it's cool but still a dick move. I don't hate the guy though, it's not like he harmed Laios because Laios didn't notice a damn thing 'til being told. lol

YoungSalsa
>>149401514

Yea that was where he was in the wrong, but part of it was him letting loose some built up aggression & stress from starving himself & not sleeping Laios was annoying this episode too, his attitude for sure would’ve pissed me off with how lax he was being about the situation & his tone of voice. Hell, when he see’s Falin killing everyone his 1st thoughts are “thats so cool” dude needed to get smacked at LEAST once. Not to mention part of it is his fault Falin was killed in the 1st place. As the leader of the group he was the reason they were starved fighting the dragon in the 1st place and THEN he was too busy admiring the dragon so Falin had to come in & save him. Then he uses something illegal that ultimately resulted in her turning into THAT??? THEN he’s just gonna say it like it’s no big deal & looks like he’s just having a blast the whole time. No wonder Shuro was pissed at him. We know as the audience that Laios’ group isn’t gonna die & gonna recover Falin, but the characters in the story aren’t allowed to be sure of that. They both got their hits in & made up. Shuro even offers to illegally smuggle Laios & his group to his country if they’re in some deep shit, which is an insanely kind thing to do Both were in the wrong, both made up. The hate’s unnecessary & people were probably seeing it from 1 side due to us seeing things from Laios’ POV & him being the MC If we were following Shuro from the beginning the reactions would be much different

Kris
>>149401514

nah I jus watched the episode Shuro is a hypocrite and hes trash if you dont understand why re-watch it because you missed out on alot :P

Fobbles
>>149297029

Nah 😂 There’s different levels but sometimes if something gets me thinking or I find something the puzzle out in my head, like Laois, you zone out. The self awareness could just be from him, or the fact that he’s constantly thinking of stuff all the time. Or it’s fantasy and nobody knows what adhd is so he thinks everyone does it.

Fobbles
>>149297029

Yeah but if he represents it well why not let them have it? It doesn’t change anything. Just helps people feel recognized and help them show others what good representation is. If I remember, Oron high school host club isn’t gay, but I mean c’mon. Lets the gays have a win if they like it. Or yuri on ice… actually no that one is super blatantly gay nvm

afrocentric distortion
>>149401514

i think part of it is that toshiro is angry at laios in the beginning of their relationship for being bad at social cues and "acting weird," then to push him away he uses classic Japanese tactics of being subtly mean and then gets even angrier at him for not noticing. the entire time, laios genuinely believes that they're friends and so toshiro doesn't have a right to get mad at laios for acting that way if he won't even tell him how he feels etc. it's also in part of laios being implied to be neurodivergent in some way so you really can't fault him for not understanding as well as the fact that the author was trying to make a social commentary on japanese social culture and how they're taught to not be upfront with people, which is something she doesn't like. so the situation that people are talking about is basically not all the things laios ended up doing later (which btw he wasn't admiring the dragon when falin got caught, he was just hungry and out of it-- plus toshiro didn't care that marcille used black magic [you said laios did, which he didn't] and would have done the same, as he pointed out it's just laios' "attitude" which makes him seem very hypocritical), but specifically about their relationship which started way before that and tooshiro really had no reason to be angry at him when he couldn't be upfront with laios etc.

afrocentric distortion
>>149342964

yeah dark elves don't exist in this world, it's a myth made by tallmen who tried to reason why some elves are nice and some are mean, but it's not actually something that exists.

afrocentric distortion
>>149310723

yeah i'm pretty sure the author said he's implied to be "neurodivergent" (she didn't really use that word since she speaks Japanese) in some way etc.

I'm not a fan of how much resurrection magic can just be used as a no consequence. that scene could have been soo much more terrifying if it was like you can ressurect only one person . it was hard to take anything seriously or care for any of the characters there.

>>149563114

Honestly, I hated this show for the first 4-5 episodes. I dropped it multiple times. I pushed through and now enjoy it quite a bit. Still, a show shouldn't take that long to be interesting. It just seemed like a mindless quirky cooking show at first.
