Honestly, I don’t feel as bad for the daughter, tbh, like during effectively a state of emergency when a man who is able to kill via screens and declares war on an entire country decides to have some fun. No, he just doesn't care about his kids throughout the show, it's a plot hole actually. He knows Hiro is dangerous, he knows he's going to attack and kill people and at the moment when several planes are crashing he doesn't even care about his daughter or son? The guy cares more about random strangers than his own family, it doesn't make sense.

technically speaking, mari could have been brain damaged considering her symptoms. not a big health guy, but i know that if your eyes dont constrict or your muscles dont react to certain pressure applied to them, it could indicate brain damage. considering she inhaled a lot of smoke, her brain must have not enough oxygen and starting to cause permanent damage which could result in death, but as long as she wasn't 100% dead, inuyashiki could and eventually did heal her.
