Man some people really didn't like it when the show started focusing on the other characters but me personally i love it because it gave so much more depth to them instead of them being flat side characters.

I think Toru meant that Sakura is just a really nice person and she’s smart she a student council member and he doesn’t know her at all so he feels like she’s just better than him but Yuki is someone he knows he knows her habits and her personality so she doesn’t feel foreign to him to him she’s comfortable and same with her to her he’s comfortable she knows a lot about Toru and she’s comfortable with him

Remember this comment from Anon7524: Mentioning this again and probably for the next few episodes going forward since I want to make sure it's seen (yes after this it's practically the exact same message as last EP; yes I saw one person also posted this week earlier asking, but the more comments about it the likelier it is to be seen). Plz after EP 12 of Horimiya go to S2 (EPs1-12) instead of watching EP 13. Ep 13 adapts the legitimate end of the manga, where as S2 takes place for the most part between EPs 11-13, minus the epilogue which is S2 Ep13. That's why it's called the "Horimiya: The Missing Pieces". A lot of other commenters now and I, feel it would be better for reaction content if the ending isn't shown before the second season, as it was only made that way due to uncertainty of continuation for a 2nd cour

Yeah I heard the same type of critique for shows like Invincible, where some don't like anything other than the A plot and say it's filler. But personally, I love worldbuilding and depth to the side characters!

I didn't take what Toru meant as a negative. Its like how the hot guy likes Yuki. It can be very overwhelming to be with someone that you think of as being such a hight standard that you feel inferior in a way if they like you. Yuki and Toru themselves work better together since they have a strong foundation of friendship to where they know each other better and understand each others quirks

It really is just down to what you prefer past the physical aspect. Toru prioritized who he was more comfortable with and who he can be himself around with. He recognized that Sakura is a great girl but they didn't have enough rapport with each other for him to pick her.

Feeling rejected without being actually rejected is actually a good thing. Reminds me a lot of oregairu when hachiman purposely confessed to a girl so that the girl wouldn't have to verbally reject the other guy. I forgot their names

Yeah, as bad as I felt for Sakura and even Yanagi, neither of them really knew the people they were crushing on, whereas Yuki and Toru clearly know and feel comfortable with each other

I had the same reaction to the toru thing at first but when I thought about it more it made sense. Think of it like he sees Sakura as an amazing person. But when he says out of his league he means it more in a way to say that she is distant. Basically noting that he doesn’t have that same type of connection with Sakura.

Sad situation but it was resolved is a pretty realistic way to
