I'm not even done with the episode and the best part of this reaction is just seeing how they're reacting to the 1% of the 1% of the 1% of privilege. I mean, it doesn't get more privileged than expecting special doctors and being able to call up the hospital trustees for room reservations. There's a whole other world out there that most people cannot even fathom. It's really quite sad.

The children are important shareholders (they own a large amount of stock in their father's company) and the news of his condition will probably cause panic selling of stock because they predict people will not be confident in Kendall as the acting CEO. This will cause the price per share to drop, and as Gerri said, the lender that Logan borrowed from can demand the full 3 billion that the company owes if that price drops below $130 a share. This is very bad for the company and the family because they don't actually have 3 billion just sitting around to spend on debts. Billionaires usually have to borrow or liquidate assets to spend that kind of capital all at once. Also, as the stock drops, their wealth drops, since a large amount (or even most) of their wealth is in the stock of the company that is at risk.

i think in this ep the director, with shiv and roman was making a comment about how rich kids can’t sit still or just don’t know how to sit in chairs. every room shiv and roman walked into they sat down in some weird way. i think it’s about how rich people think they can walk into any place and treat it like home and kick up their feet because nobody is gonna tell them otherwise

So the Roy Family is based off of Rupert Murdoch (ran Fox News) and his kids. So their company Waystar Roy co is based on Fox both politically and in terms of scale. ATN is their news network. That’s the level of wealth and influence we’re dealing with here (also why people online were so gleeful about Logan’s hospitalization). And Tom’s actor is British lmao no Hanks relation (he was famously Mr Darcy in pride and prejudice)

This show is just as much about framing the audience in a place of ignorance as it is framing characters in a place of ...idk knowledge? Considering that Kendall just acquired a company and then being in debt $3B I would just sell the house probably worth like $600mil and get loans on the stock they’re already holding. The other company would literally drive the price down and lose money just to get to that 130 price to acquire Kendall’s company in real life but this show is wild 😂😂

The $3B in loans is already secured against stock held by the family's holding company. It can't be used as collateral for other loans unless they commit fraud and don't disclose the other debt, which would get them sued into oblivion and probably facing criminal charges if things went wrong.
