Al is kinda taking the same approach that Roswaal took last season and basically telling Subaru to abandon everything else aside from Emilia. Like Roswaal, he also underestimates Emilia and doesn't understand why she isn't being scared or feeling helpless. And Al also kind of repeats what Roswaal told Subaru at the end of S2. That choosing to shoulder the burden of everyone would be nearly impossible. But Subaru decides to do it anyway because that's what he has to do. Also, side note. Otto has really been coming in clutch. In S1 he helped Subaru reach Emilia in time and helped stop Petelgeuse. In S2 him not being in the tome helped Subaru stop Roswaal's plans. And now he's brought the strongest card, Reinhard, into battle.

Crunchyroll did a mistranslation on the "he wants to see all the girls he knows smile because of how much cuter it is" He didn't say that technically, he was referring to Emilia and he said ""I know her smile is so much cuter than that! I want to be able to say that!"" The reason why he saying that is because he want them (the people) and Emilia to smile and knowing theirs hope still. Also on top because Subaru knows more then anyone that Emilia is someone who sucks at crying because of how she could never truly smile at most times and were fake smiles. Al is missing his left arm. Subaru would almost for sure restart or get it healed/reattached. Al serves Priscilla and gets stepped on for a living. Subaru seeks to be someone worthy of standing by Emilia as an equal. Al might somehow have a connection with the Witches Cult that we don't know about, but he also doesn't seem to have the Witch of Envy breathing down his neck. Subaru has Beatrice and uses spirit arts loud and proud. Al fights with a sword and keeps his face obscured. In short, I do not think Al is future Subaru. People can change with time and Subaru might become jaded like Al is, but I do not think they are the same.

Before I rant, is there anyway you guys can watch the video about how everyone else sees Subaru without him dying. I think they edited the video to be in the perspective of the world rather than the watcher. It will give you a different viewpoint as you watch the series. I think people had a misunderstanding on why people hyped up this speech, people like to compare against Erwin’s amazing speech or others, but what this speech showed me is that he’s just a regular dude like everyone else, but they are given hope that even weak and scared people can defy those against you/him. If I would have gotten you regular heroic speech, I would have brushed that off, fell to despair, because I would feel it’s easy for a person who can go up against these villains to say we can fight than a person who can’t.

I love how we've seen a very natural character progression when it comes to Subaru, it hasn't always been an upward trajectory but he's finally leaning into his responsibilities in this world. It may have flown over people's heads, but he just announced himself to all of the archbishops, including Glutonny, despite knowing the implications. Also, i didn't really deep how bad of a situation it would be if Subaru was erased without his memories, all his relationships destroyed, all of the closure from the past gone, it really would be the "true" death after everything he's gone through

I can see lupas point, the speech was a bit quite long and not your usual on the point practical speech especially in time of emergency. He forgot that its an anime though, not just any anime but an isekai anime which is the weebest of them all so that speech has to be extra extra.

Lupa had no point he's just a S+ tier Subaru hater. Subaru was put on the spot to give a speech to inspire hope in hopeless situation to everyone which isn't an easy feat. He also clearly had stage fright so he wasn't entirely confident on what he should be saying but as the speech goes on you see Subaru starts becoming more confident and starts talking more coherent which in turn made Subaru more relatable to the public mass. I appreciate the realism in Subaru's character because most teenage neets in real life are not great public speakers.

It's almost like having a suspension of disbelief is lost to some viewers. Like it's obvious he doesn't like ReZero since everything goes over his head.
