Victor has the mindset of a child because for decades he was alone. The only reason we think like adults is because we see adults around us and learn from them. He had no one to learn from. This is why he doesn't understand why the father wanted him to stay away from his child. An adult would think it's inappropriate for an adult and child to hand out. Someone with a child mindset wouldn't see the harm. Sheera, to your point: Kids will sneak around too. If they know the other kid is grounded or the parents don't like them they'll go to back doors or room windows.

to be fair ,his first encounter with the boy mustve allowed him to find that spot to hide after which the whole town was massacred and eventually we find out that the boy in white isnt what he seems ,so him hearing another child seeing that same boy at around the same age sent of major red flags to him because the only event he knows the boy in white for is associated with a massacre
