They really changed Xan’s story because his original origin was that yes he did rebel but he was later captured, reprogrammed, and turned into a gladiator. I love how they keep his cockiness from the games with how he shows off and sacrifices the other bots to protect himself. From freedom fighter to cocky gladiator turned symbol
