I don’t know why I didn’t notice this before, but the Recruiter’s death from S2 Ep 1 had major parallels from the first episode of the series. When they first met Gi-hun had that fake gun that was actually a lighter and scared the Recruiter with it. It was a sick parallel to when they played Russian Roulette and they both didn’t know if they’d fire a blank or not.

Actually it makes a lot of sense. We only see it for a few minutes, but from our perspective, the characters are small and the picture of the games are big so they stand out to the eyes. The characters could miss it because they are stressed out about the games, the room is a bit dark most of the time and they usually come into the room with their heads down because they are traumatized by what they just saw. We as the viewer are not influence by those specific factors, we can view the wall with a clear mind and see the images that are displayed.

That would be the only piece of the set and filmmaking that exists outside the characters perception then, the rest of the show has been pretty literal. The most surreal thing to happen in the show is the dream sequence this episode. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it would also be strange for there to be something that is visually only for the audience when literally everything else in the show can be seen by the characters. Also, the fact that they're shown on the walls through camera feeds just makes me think that they're actually there for some reason.

where I live 5 stones is played differently. instead of throwing a single stone every time, you throw all the stones each time, so its like 1 thrown and grab another, throw these 2 and grab a third, throw all three and grab a 4th, and then throw all 4, grab a 5th, all the while catching the 4 that are currently in the air. these guys got the easy mode for 5 stones.

Pretty sure they know. I didn't know at first. It looked familiar, I just couldn't pinpoint at first. It's Jacks (w/Fivestone rules). I grew up in the 90s and played it in the playground. Only difference with American jacks is if you're an aggressive player, like me, those things hurt when you grab too hard. American jacks are like ninja caltrops. I see it played today, but like those Korean jacks, they are a lot safer than the pointy metal jacks.

We play it in America. It's called "Fivestone jacks". Instead of those plastic things, we use those metal jacks bones. Same rules though, complete with the hand flip thing. The American version hurts if you grab too hard because those old school jacks are sharp. We also use a rubber ball for the count up portion.

Don't quote me on this, but Gonggi -- basically jacks. You start collecting the pieces by ones, then dump them back and go by twos, then by threes, then four, then when you get to the point where you get all five in your hand in one pass, you have to toss them all, balance them all on the back of your hand, and then catch all five. I'm not saying that this is some kind of surreal show, or some kind of psychological thriller. But in the same way they can't listen the soundtrack, they can't see that. In other shows there are narrations, in-universe credits or titles, changes in the color palette... The other explanation would be that nobody saw the huge obvious drawings in the room they stayed for hours doing nothing, not only Gi-hun, but Sang-woo and Sae-byeok too, who were both intelligent and perceptive.
