Yeah Father Khatri got hoed, they let Boyd, Elgin, Fatima and Ellis just walk by and even let Boyd touch them. Khatri looked away for ONE SECOND, and they quickly slashed his throat. Either that's just an inconsistency for plot reasons or like Sheera said, they're assholes and just choose who they want to play with.

A lot of stuff that hasn't made sense will be revealed, with many more questions that will hopefully be answered in season 4. Anyways, you'll understand when they finish up season 3.

They didn't know they could die and seeing how Boyd's blood may be a threat, they can't risk killing him so instead they prioritize studying the death to see how he killed them. I understand with Boyd since he was literally willingly walking out and trying to get their attention. They probably think of him as special since he is sheriff, his wife died the way she did, he found the talismans, etc. So they probably would kill him very slowly or even just stand around until morning to fuck with him or something. After the rebar in the head, I would believe they are capable of anything lol. Also, the only time I ever remember seeing these things do something outside of killing or terrorizing the townpeople was when this same one that died this episode was miming driving the bus, before he found the old couple. They seem really curious about something, but I have no idea what it is.
