I was 50/50 with the theory of it being the captain in the beginning then I was leaning towards it not being him when his son got kidnapped. If the son came out of this unscathed then I thought it would've been him but I didn't think he was sick enough to do that to his own son.

Many people also react differently to the same thing. Even if he wasn't the one who cut off his sons finger, it's not impossible that he wouldn't shed tears. Just anger. Ive seen some weird attitudes in real life to know, not everyone can be placed under the same suspicions for acting differently than you would, given the situation.

I honestly didn’t think that it could’ve been him until last week when I finally looking up the casting and realized this isn’t the same guy from the original series lol I figured one of these new characters had to be a killer because they were never referenced in the original. So one murder mystery is solved now to figure out who is killing the NHIs.
