What amazes me about this series is that yes, it does take every trope in the book and plays all of them straight. It's familiar to the point that Lupa, who doesn't watch romcom anime, was dead on about the script. And yet somehow, despite not being very original, it's still really enjoyable because of how relatable the characters are and how all of them are so likeable that you just can't help rooting for them.

Even tho it’s trope-y I think the show succeeds because of how strong the characters are Taiki is an idiot but he’s our lovable idiot and we want him to get better Chi and Hina are both best girls for different reasons Kyo is a good anime friend for once and Haryu is a A+ mentor Plus balancing the sports and romance well
