There are 100% gun sniffing dogs but those training regiments are more akin to explosives and therefore almost exclusively for military and swat use. Your average police K-9 unit will not have gone through that unless it’s an old military service dog trained with thousands of IED sims and a few years working TSA and customs. The oils and plastics on firearms even unfired with no gunpowder residue can be sniffed out for how weird they smell to a dog. K that’s it my one reacher moment is over lol. Vets in the comments can confirm.
