Honestly, i'm something of a Kpop industry hater, and this movie even managed to win me over. Unfortunately the Demons would have got me, because Soda Pop and Be Your Idol are the best songs in the movie. (I don't necessarily dislike K-pop but I don't like how hyper exploitative the industry is and how intense the stan culture is)

This whole movie is about accepting the parts of yourself you're not proud of. The fact that Celine brainwashed rumi into actually believing turning the honmoon gold would remove her patterns when she's literally HALF demon is crazy to me 😭😭 like it's in your blood you can't get rid of it so just accept it. And when she finally did that's when they were able to finally seal the honmoon by creating a whole new one based on loving yourself 100%

And yeah I agree with Roshi that Rumi's whole issue of being conditioned to hide her marks are like how irl Idols are pressured to keep appearances of being flawless and perfect. Loved that damn bird and tiger. Bobby is babygirl. Oh and Mira is my favorite of the 3. She made that hardcore Joey Wheeler face and I fell inlove.

There definitely is a bit of commentary on idol culture amidst all the fun and wackiness of the movie, especially with how 4/5 Saja Boys don't have actual names. Kind of like how people who don't know a group can recognize members by "oh you know the hot one" or "the funny one." Abby and Baby are all too familiar to me as a kpop fan as they can allude to objectification/sexualization and infantilization respectively😵‍💫

My only gripe with the movie is that I wish the Sajaboys were more because basically the whole band as a 'character' is just Jinu but I get that that'd be too many characters to juggle. I'm not a kpop stan so I never could see the appeal of their girlypop fruity asf designs which I've seen irl kpop boybands do. Ain't my thing.

Nah, it was exactly the point and it works imo! It was commentary / satire that all of the other members were k-pop tropes (the mysterious ones, the visual, the flirt, and the maknae) while the only three-dimensional Saja Boys member was Jinu.

So many good things to say about this one. I think what I appreciate the most is that it's just fun. Not every detail makes sense all the time and it doesn't need to if the scene itself is fun enough to suspend your disbelief. I also really really appreciate the movie showing girls being really girly in a way that doesn't feel hollow or costume-y (e.g. a lot of Disney films), while still allowing them to be real and make silly faces and not caring if they aren't perfectly presented 100% of the time. I also really appreciate that Jinu didn't backstab her. I think i've been a bit trained by disney princess stories to expect the male lead/prince charming to have some sort of ulterior motive and turn out to be a terrible person, so I'm really glad that wasn't the case here.

W movie and W reaction! Honestly what I love most if you can tell the creators really put a lot of love into this movie. Ok, so the Kpop nerd in me is kicking in, and at the 47:00 mark, I swear I heard the instrumentals for Super Junior's Black Suit especially with the piano riff or whatever it's called....! Idk if I'm crazy, but it's hilarious lol Also so far this is one of the few times I can actually relate being a Kpop nerd, especially hearing Twice singing Strategy (and the new promo song TAKEDOWN by Jihyo, Jeongyeon, and Chaeyoung from Twice, so fire) as one of their songs in the background somewhere....! My gawd this is entertaining 😊 But yeah, this is definitely #1 movie material for me too! Songs, visuals, plot, etc is insane......! If you guys have time for a Kdrama (and this is a personal recommendation) later on, I would recommend either Crash Landing On You and/or The K2... I'd bet the action/suspense/humor in those Kdramas I recommend to you guys will certainly be piqued with curiosity for how it'll go...!

Jinu's voice actor plays in a Netflix KDrama called "Business Proposal" where he's the main character. The song playing in the background in this movie is the same song that be playing during the romantic scenes in that KDrama (Great Kdrama by the way)

Same. This music normally isn't my vibe at all. Most music I listen to from Korea is in the indie genre not pop. But I actually super enjoyed these songs. And honestly I think a huge reason for that is them in context of the characters and story of the film. A lot of my favorite songs after all, are usually the ones I can play little movies in my head with my favorite characters to. In this case, these songs already have that haha. I still think they're fun songs regardless, but I'm pretty sure my enjoyment is tied a lot to my love for them in context.

There's a korean concept called hwabyung which in essence means repressing your negative emotions down deep within yourself and never letting them out. It is quite commonly found predominately in women, especially those of middle age or older. And I think it's something that they were trying to touch on with the movie, but not without getting into the hyperspecifics. All in all, I loved the movie and seeing y'alls reactions!

Kpop Demon Hunters easily top 3 movies of 2025 above Thunderbolts and below Sinners. This movie is definitely speaking on Idol culture, the line "we must hide our faults" says a lot about idol culture in kpop, I listen to a lot of Kpop groups, I-DLE formerly (G)I-DLE, is one of the groups that I really dove into, the kpop industry is brutal, very different to how artists work in America, there's standards for everything, voice, looks, age, talent, everything. It's difficult to become big if you don't meet all those criteria.

Yes she was you clearly weren’t paying attention to free and the dialogue after. The problem is that she was hesitating and stressing herself out over the truth she was with holding and as someone who sings it takes focus to sing and if you are too uncertain or your nerves gets the best of you it effects how you sing. And also your logic doesn’t make sense especially when the markings never shrunk she never had an issue with her voice after she accepted herself. The patterns are permanent. It’s was all mental. She just hyper fixated on the markings. The whole point of that plotline was that she was hiding and psychologically blocked her own skills. They borderline take music styles and make concepts out of it which I understand why people don't like the genre. Idk what your smoking, this movie took the world by storm, even now, you can still hear Golden being played on the radio, even the news channels has some KPDH songs as BGM. I can understand if you found it corny cause it is corny, even Koreans found the movie corny but it is not even close to being "ass", the Rotten Tomatoes score, critics and audience speak very highly of this movie, if majority of the world liked/loved this movie, your "most normal people" is very small in comparison.

I had to watch this because 1: a handful of my students were referencing it in their writing; 2: having read a couple of days ago that the film has become Netflix's biggest movie ever, well I just had to jump in. Not bad, even chuckled and reflected so - fantastic film - catchy tunes!

Honestly I feel like they could've done more with the demons like I don't mind the ones that were clearly to far gone but it would've been nice to show more demons like Jinu and had the ending where they make a new Honmoon purify the humans that lost there soul showing how Rumi's understanding of Demons had changed and instead of being an oppressive barrier against demons it was instead a barrier that helped demons face their shame so they could become human again... also would've been dope to have Jinu step in to sing with Rumi at the end and then fade away showing that he had been saved and given another epic Rumi and Jinu duet moment... I'm sure there are people who disagree but the movie just did a good job of making you feel bad for the demons and they made it feel like there was more to the new Honmoon that Rumi was making but they never really said what was different about it so it would've been nice to have had some other effect to show it was different... I loved the movie but I hate seeing wasted potential in movies...
