That was definitely the same guy that had his brain scanned. I think that scene was a visual representation of the simulated world that they put that guy's brain in to have him do whatever task they wanted him to continue to do.

Damn, they really forgot who Chanda was twice in one episode. Also, the "two rogue UIs" comment referred to Laurie and David. They showed Chanda's UI afterward to emphasize that Logorhythms is only aware of two, because they don't know that another company successfully developed the UI tech.

I get they are on episode 2 but they are paying half attention. They already told us who the second UI is and it isnt that indian dude. He isnt even free he's clearly working and doesnt know he's a UI. Thats how they all start out. They even told us how David got to the point of emoji chat. They had him working then added emotions in. But he was still doing his original job until he got freed.

This my first time watching it, but my theory since they are intersecting psychology and programming is that they are training the school kid to make him a "perfect" uploaded intelligence by having learned helplessness and high motivation for understanding. Theoretically, the traumatic or maladaptive thoughts of the "uploaded intelligence," would be in tact. The intersection of EI and IQ being overlooked by unethical technological practitioners as well as protection of infrastructure. It makes me think of how they needed a "2nd internet" in cyberpunk. They talked about the rapid development of a human, but then there's also the motivation/desire to continue the human race in certain counseling theories. In this case, the continuation would be the uploaded intelligence, and the dad wanting to upload their significant others and children, killing them. That would connect to the mythology they said in the 1st episode also about family killing each other because they tried to kill them, like force uploading the mom. There could also be the forced meshing of two uploaded intelligences.
