Maybe because of Doakes and Maria's deaths, Angel thought that maybe Dexter might have killed a few innocents as well and figured Prater might have...Ahh. I don't know man. Miami Metro was trash if you remember those 8 seasons of foolery in that department. Damn 20% murder case solve rate. Angel definitely wasn't the smartest from the series with all of his dumb ass choices, but damn, he went out sad.

Prater did exactly what I thought he would and offered to give him killers and be somewhat of a twisted Harry for him which blew my mind. It was poetic how Prater gave Dexter a similar deal that Brian did in season 1 being kill Deb and join me but here it’s Batista on the table where Dexter killed his brother. However Batista just like Lundy dies by gunshots from someone saving/protecting the killer (his trophy in this case) the same episode he was kicked out the station for being a retired officer. Prater now 100% fits the code for taking the life of an innocent and La Pasion should’ve listened to everyone and took his La Pension and left.😂😂

Great episode. Not mad at Angel, even though it was dumb. The cops were forcing him out of town, letting Dexter get away free again. Given the situation he was never making it out of that room alive, so he took his last chance to (in his eyes) avenge Maria and Doakes.

I understand your POV but Angel was always a bad or mid detective in the OG series if I remember correctly he had good moments and a great heart but most of the time he wasn’t that great so it’s not out of character of him to see him how he poorly handled everything in resurrection especially how he crashed out at the end 😂 I get Dexter keeps on getting away with it for the past 3 decades and he messed your life up but he still made a stupid decision on going to Prater and attacking Dexter 😭

I also forgot to mention that I appreciate the coma conversations in the first episode now cause a lot of similarities from Miguel, Trinity, Doakes, and Harry have occurred this season. Prater is like Miguel, a person with connections to law enforcement who accepted Dexter’s darkness, calling that life a lonely path just like Prater did in the letter to Red. Dexter is trying to be a better father than Harry and not force Harrison into the life he was raised into while this episode Prater offers to be somewhat of a messed up Harry to Dexter. The whole season had a Lundy hunting Trinity dynamic with moments where Batista even seemed to act like Doakes “Surprise hermano” and knowing Dexter is the Butcher. However he went out like Lundy via gunshots from someone protecting/saving the killer (trophy in this scenario). Prater showing up at the restaurant even gave the “Hello Dexter Morgan” feeling that Trinity had with Dexter. Prater poetically gave Dexter a similar choice that Brian gave in season 1 being “kill Deb and join me so we can be who we are together.” Except here It’s “kill Batista and I will help you” and on the table he killed Brian being the only similarity to him I have seen. So I hope Brian shows up but probably not this season so next season🙏. There are likely other moments I’m forgetting but it’s interesting to think on.

I personally like ending of Dexter never being sentenced to prison he just simply gets away with it because sometimes people just never end up serving justice there’s even past serial killers that got away with crimes and never end up in prison but I wouldn’t be mad if dexters ending is death or prison as long it’s executed right

Call me weird, but I really didn't have a real issue with Prater until this episode. I'm not talking about what happened at the second half of the episode; I'm talking about at the very beginning, in and outside the restaurant, when he really started prying into Dex's life. Then I was ready to see him get packed up. He's just a little too comfortable, and you could pack up Beatrix Kiddos ass up too, if I found out someone pointed a gun at my kid. When he had her hemmed up in her car and reminded her she was fucking with a real one @20:34 I said uh-uh what you crying for just had his kid at gunpoint.

They made Angel kind of a dumbass in this episode. For a guy claiming to known Dexter for many years, he hasn’t considered that many of his victims are 95% serial killers/sociopath. I liked that he still hasn’t forgiven Dexter, but what the fuck was his end goal plan after trying to kill him, ask Leon politely to let him go, fuck no, he’s dead. It somewhat Dexter fault for not telling him sooner in the car that he didn’t kill Doakes, Lagureta, and Deb, but that wouldn’t matter anyways Angel too irrational to think clearly at this point. Overall the only smartest person that didn’t try taking Dexter down was Quinn and Angela.

The writer of the show made a good point, gotta remember that Doakes and Laguerta told Batista several times Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher and he thought they were acting crazy. So that had to fester up once he found Dexter was actually still alive and the actual BHB

However that club was arguably the biggest challenge he has ever had and now Prater killed an innocent in front of Dexter so now he 100% for sure undeniably fits the code. Batista was a Captain in the police force and has been a cop over 20 years...surely his police instincts should've kicked in to take down the bigger threat which were the ones that kidnapped him and tied him down to a table to murder him yet he decided to go after the one who freed him. Either Batista lost his head or the writers were desperately trying too hard to make him incompetent.

So far yes, he's been hunting him down, but that exact moment is the 100% confirmation that his best friend of 20ish years is one of the most notorious serial killers of all time. He's not thinking in that moment, he's in a mindless blind rage, yet people act like he should've had some action movie team up where he teams up with Dexter and saves the day.

I believe Angel only said he was trying to warn Prater to get an audience with him. When he is actually talking to Prater, he mentions nothing about his safety and only seems to be concerned about his connection to Dexter. I think it was his desperation play to get at least something on Dexter. But yes, huge L on him attacking Dexter at the end, maybe it was just all his rage.

Dexter writes prove once again that they can’t write an ending, why they gotta make La Passion act so dumb at the very end. Wish that they had Prater see Angel taking the pictures of him and Dexter outside the restaurant, “invite” him into his limo and get captured like that. Also that Angel would only get shot once, so that he bleeds out slowly and we get more dialogue between him and Dexter.

I think it’s 100% justified, Dexter framed his partner Doakes as a serial killer, got his ex wife killed for trying to expose him, and faked his death which Angel mourned. Incredible betrayal by Dexter and now he’s getting away with it again! Of course it was on sight. I’m glad his last words were “Dexter Morgan fuck you” because this is the consequences that Dexters faces for all his killing, lying, and manipulation. Innocent people get caught in the crossfire. It got Rita killed and now Angel, driven mad by all of Dexter’s betrayal, lays dead when he should’ve been enjoying La Pension. Peak besides the writers making Batista warn Prater about Dexter when his MO is killing criminals. That’s just dumb.

xD, I never said anything to refute what you said. If Angel did ANYTHING else, it wouldn't have made a lick of sense (with literallyeverything he has done and the route theyve taken his character). If they had hugged it out, then instead of Angel being goofy, the narrative would've been goofy lol. It IS still Angel's fault he got himself killed because of his 'white whale' . This is all just my personal story bias certainly- still disdain it when a character goes 'dis shit ur fault' when it ain't (especially when it's the accuser's fault) just because they've got a vendetta/hate the person they're accusing. And do I like Dexter? Sure. He's a great protagonist for an interesting premise, but I've only gotten into the show since they're watching these branched series. So no super strong attachment there. He just seems quite smart most of the time, so if he internalizes that obvious goofiness when it was the fault of angel's obsession- that's simply another narrative device (to create internal conflict and drama on purpose, which can work under the right conditions, otherwise it feels contrived) that often annoys me. 🤷‍♂️ But the show is very good and one of my current favorites. That, plus with Roshi's and Sheera's reactions, I'm sure I'll have a good time even if something that I find grating or ridiculous occurs lol

Angel took the biggest L I have ever seen. I know he wanted justice, but he played himself so badly. I can't imagine you being strapped to a table to crash out on the guy who freed you? Like he could have waited to have his fight with him later. Obviously entitled to his grief and pain, but you wasted your life on a pursuit he knew was going to get him killed or very close to it. Dexter is already living in his own personal hell every day, like he might not be able to feel the same way as others. Still, he got his own wife killed, his relationship with his son is on the thinnest ice possible over metal spikes, and he has had to take out people he cares about. Like the universe is punishing him, he should have lived his life in retirement in Miami and done the best he could, helping people in Miami, providing good. Hard to feel sad about his departure when it was so avoidable.

I can’t lie to you that proposal Prater gave sounds like an amazing TV show spinoff I would watch for hours. Unfortunately, the episode ended the way it did but that would’ve been some peak shit and could possibly go for a long amount of time as long as they did the writing and the plot, really good, that would’ve been a great concept but his love for Angel and his pride/code wouldn’t let him have it.

It really isn't fair to Angel to say "Leave it alone" or blaming him for what happened, he was right and his story only sounded crazy because Dexter manipulated the narrative so well. He was a cop and catching Dexter would be the right thing to do, he approached Prater not knowing the situation he was getting himself into because no one knew that Prater was some psycho. Also Angel was willing to die to get confirmation, and while I don't doubt he died regretting not having put Dexter behind bars or in an unmarked grave, he at least knew that his departed friends were not crazy or killers.
