definitely not as strong as season 1, strong tonal shift

TheMonarch

Just wait until next season, there will be an even bigger tonal shift, very drama focused and it's will be the last season

mitch anderson

I personally preferred this season. I Liked the extra animations, it felt more lively than season 1

KayPopOutNYC

I wish , I’m bored ngl I’m not a anime person but I believe Mondays is strictly anime

Cleo Kujo

Darn I haven't watched this season yet because I wanted to binge but I wonder why it's not as a strong as the first season

slayydo

I finally caught up on the 3 episodes last night, was hoping they’d at least drop ep 2 today 😩

Tancho24

Is this it? Biggest L anime of 2025

fyre

nah kaijuu no8

Tancho24

Too many focus on side characters, we don’t want that, NO FAN SERVICE 😡

Jamaal Ellison

Damn people are saying the show fell off why what happened?

Robert Rodriguez

wat who is asking for fan service. if you wanna goon to somethin go watch porn tf.

6CatsInAnAlley

I personally enjoyed this season more, I liked seeing the new characters and Gojo making actual friends and I loved the whole cultural festival arc with Gojo interacting with everyone and them showing struggles of other cosplayers like Amane

MrOuijaII

This is def one of the romance/romcoms where the main couple are just.. so much better than everyone else and your enjoyment is going to depend on just how much your invested On Sheera saying that other romcoms hyper focus on the main couple, gotta disagree, the really strong ones have great side characters that integrate so well it’s not jarring. Off top of my head romcoms they’ve reacted to.. both Toradora and especially ESPECIALLY Kaguya-sama have good supporting cast who usually have their own shit going on, and one that they have not reacted to, Love Chunibyo & other delusions also has a strong side casts. Most HS romcoms they bs will they won’t they shy/confessions bs would get super annoying without other characters 😂

Tancho24

The anime was build on fan service, stripping it off was big mistake. Can’t convince me otherwise.

6CatsInAnAlley

I loved it personally, you might like it, you might not, won’t know until you watch it

ray.beez

No yams this episode 💔

Robert Rodriguez

I personally liked this season. I get what you mean if you didn't really care about some of the side characters, but the show is about Marin cosplaying and Gojo making the fits. If it stopped being about the cosplay and only focused on the ship, what else will happen? Like, what would the show be in the background. I don't even think Gojo has developed actual feelings for Marin yet tbh.

Deep

Any idea when trio reacts coming?

Robert Rodriguez

I agree. Even currently airing, Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity has a fantastic side cast. The side cast might not hit for people, but a story that only focuses on the main duo can get boring.

MrOuijaII

MDUD does not need fan service to be good, Marin & Gojo are fantastic themselves but season 1 did have much more ecchi content, roshi himself said so at the end of this reaction. The ‘wholesome’ ecchi moments was a big draw of season 1, people came for the ecchi and stayed for the romance. So even though his comment is pretty over the top it’s a valid complaint. Whenever I see people say ‘fan service = porn’ I gotta think you just got here or just super young. How could you survive season 1 with that line of thinking.

Jalen Holmes

Next season will be the last. Personally I loved both seasons equally but I acnt wait for yalls reaction to the finale of the series

B1itz

I agree with Roshi 100%. What got me hooked onto this show was seeing how the relationship between Gojo and Marin blossomed. tbh the other side characters meant next to nothing for me. They're just not as interesting as the dynamic between the 2 protags

Christine Ayomide

I loved both seasons! Can't wait for the next. Please watch Carole & Tuesday, especially in dub.

Devin B

It's somewhat hard to tell what his actual feelings are for her because he's constantly thinking she's too good for him, the fact he keeps freaking out whenever anyone ships them is proof of that

Devin B

It's hard for me to put one season above the other just because they both offered things I enjoyed about them. This season I liked a lot because we saw Gojo be comfortable with his hobby around non-cosplaying people and we saw more of Marin's feelings for Gojo turn into love for him.

ElijahLew

No way people are saying this is worst than the first season. Its about the same if not better but not definetly not worse. They gave us lots of cosplaying and insights on cosplaying. And also developed both Marin and Gojo's characters alot. The other characters introduced also helped us see what cosplaying means to other people. And lets not ignore the amazing animation done by Cloverworks this season, easily one of the best animated shows this summer season!

Mervyn Larrier

Hard disagree about these season not being as strong but I'm a fan of the entire series so 🤷🏾‍♂️

Mervyn Larrier

Bro get your weird, horny ass on. The removal of all the ud erage fanservice was a big improvement over season one. Go watch some porn if you wanna goon, weird ass nigga

Mervyn Larrier

You survive with "alright, moving on" when it's unecessary. The little scene where they ended up at the love hotel, that was funny. But just random upskort shots and shit? Like, what, are we 13? We really need that shit to stay focused?

jimmy nuetron

Season 2 was so much better imo hope yall keep watching the series though definitely one of my favorite duo reactions

Dee

I agree that season 1 was better, these arcs just lacked something. Season 3 will cover my favorite arc of the series. Hope it's as good as I remember, lol.

Huemon_Nottabear

Probably not gonna be a season 3, not enough material left. However they might make a final movie.

Huemon_Nottabear

Gojo not gonna say it, he knows whoever confesses first loses.

Robert Rodriguez

While true, what I mean is that we never see him realize he likes her or not. And that's because all this time it's just him *working for her.* They are friends and all, sure, but she does pay him to make the fits. And like you said in your own comment, this season showed his growth to be open about his hobbies and interests. Which is fantastic. It'd be weird if they fast forwarded the romance when he's still super unsure of his own worth. He doesn't feel any way toward her romantically yet other than knowing she's attractive and 'lives in another world' than him. And I hope season 3 shows us that closeness more.

Leopold

I agree with Roshi and Sheera thinking Season 1 was better. I enjoyed the main two dynamics more in the previous season while this season was mostly focused on don't worry about what others think, enjoy what you enjoy. While that isn't an issue, it is strange that they touched on it multiple times with multiple characters. I didn't care much about the new side characters, especially Akira's fan level of Marin.

GormleyPeach

Liked the season overall but I forgot how much of it focused on Gojo and almost no development in the relationship. But from what I remember the next season should be the last when we get it in 50 years.

KomodoughDragon

I don't know that I could pick one season over the other, honestly. Each season is obviously trying to accomplish different things, and I think they both succeed. If I had to pick, I think I liked season 2 just slightly more, because of how much personal development happens for Gojo (and Marin, to a lesser extent). Marin and Gojo both have insecurities that needed to be worked out before any sort of relationship progress could happen, and Marin even admitting to herself that she loves Gojo and trying to tell him is a major step. It wasn't going to happen on a first try, she's way too nervous, and I don't think Gojo is there yet, either. That being said, I think this is a really solid setup for season 3, which will be the final season and covers the best arc of the series.

KomodoughDragon

Yeah the character development in this season puts it ahead of season 1 for me. I know a lot of people want the relationship to just move forward since they obviously like each other, but Marin and Gojo just aren't there yet, they're both still maturing and getting comfortable with themselves first. I like that this series actually spends time on their personal development.

Jalen Holmes

I think either or is fine although id love a season 3

KomodoughDragon

Yeah I think Gojo is very much in the mindset of "she's so perfect, she's so wonderful" that he doesn't even consider his feelings for her because he subconciously thinks it would never work anyway. And he's also just having fun doing cosplay & learning to be comfortable with himself.

hydrxngxx

Yeah I also enjoyed season 1 more. When I read the manga, I liked the school festival arc with Gojo making new friends etc., but somehow the excitement didn't translate when I watched season 2

DevilMayCarter

If there is one thing I noticed about watching anime in the last few years is that the way "conveyance" is taken by the community. A show will try to keep conveying the same things that make it successful or will try to convey elements in order to add on or complement what already came before. All results are not equal. How many Season 2's over the years have had this perception? Loved this season, but when it comes to the Marin/Gojo dynamic, I can understand why some felt this season was lacking. Reminds me of Slime S3 in a way...

ShaquanVirse

no fucking way you just compared this to Slime S3 - GET OUT!!!

Idrees Haider

You guys should react to The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity

Fenpai

Seeing the last cosplay during the intro (anyone who read the manga knows it) I would of thought they were going to do that arc and end the anime there. Are they planning on making a 3rd season to complete it, or is this the end for the anime? Regardless my favorite chill anime so far this year 8/10.

DevilMayCarter

Exactly. There was a general consensus with how Slime's last season was received. Shonen and Isekai are easier examples to use because shows like this need their dialogue to hard carry. I could've said Fire Force or Shield Hero or even Grand Blue in regards to how tonal shift towards a different aspect of its story can be divisive, despite whether it's done well or poorly.

Jalen Holmes

Yall will love the next arc/season

Jalen Holmes

Mix of previous and current times

Cinmnapple

Now why would they play me like that? Also I kinda knew that was Akira’s deal cuz she’s just like Troy in that one community episode

Dréa

I actually liked this season more than season 1 but mainly because I very much like the cosplay subject matter and seeing Gojo heal some of that trauma & make other friends. I actually started reading the manga halfway through this season because I didn't wanna wait for the next episode lol

R-Jay

ENTIRE REVIEW WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT IF MARIN WASN'T A PUSSY

Hatty Time

I kind of get most people not getting into S2 since it focuses a bit more on other characters, but I think I don't mind it as much. It just helps world build and touches again on more of the cosplay aspect. People have different reasons getting into it, and you get together to do these group shots for fun. On the side we have Marin slowly getting more aware of her feelings and having trouble expressing it to Gojo, and next will be Gojo's turn in expressing his love for Marin. The series does focus more on them again but there def isn't as much of that ecchi rom com either. I do feel it takes it more seriously towards the later half when it's focusing strictly on their relationship awareness. It def has a bit of more 90s shoujo anime vibe like Kare Kano, but doesn’t get extreme like THAT incident in Kare Kano.

Sekraan

I don't think they even have enough material for a third season without anime-original content. There's like 1/3 fewer chapters left to adapt compared to the first two seasons. The mangaka had repeated health issues and the manga ended quite abruptly, presumably because of that. To answer Roshi's question, the tone of the third season will be much more in line with S02 than S01.

Nancchi

That’s IF we get it. I really do hope we do, even if it’s just a 2hr movie.

Spricey

The best part of this season for me was the school arc with Gojo and Marin both getting their moments, but hopefully they feel comfortable with the in/out of school characters to move forward next season with the relationship dynamic

Fuji

yeah figured she was just a fan, this show too wholesome for that stuff

Unknown

“You see, I’m an introvert” ahh reveal tf

Mollywopper

now imagine this dragged out over even more chapters in a monthly manga lmao. Readers were not happy when this arc was releasing. Good news is it does go back to its former glory at least in my opinion.

Zay C.

pfp? Why

Tancho24

Than why the fuck the added that in the first season if not to draw attention of people? Or you think author is just horny ? Season one worked cause of fan service, go to every YouTuber or streamer who watched season one, they sure didn’t have funny reactions or more views only cause of their romance, it’s cause of FAN SERVICE MF, so shut your bich ah up if fan service was not part of the show

Izzy.mp4

comment section was hell during this time lol

Mollywopper

Yea I had to stay away from all the discussion posts for like a full year lmao. Cuz while I agree with all the criticisms it's very not fun seeing ppl trash something you enjoy.

Roger Powell

Another very well done episode. CloverWorks made a max effort to finish the season off. But, it feels like there is no plan in place at this time for a continuation. The last 2 ½ minutes were anime original and the original content would have left off with a cliffhanger. The farewells from the cast, the post credit end card of death tells me the best to hope for is a wait and see. I hope with all my heart I am wrong. S1 ended without any plan to continue as well, but I had hoped that they were committed to completing the story. On the other hand, if they had written in a confession and answer, while perhaps more satisfying, that would have put the final nail in the coffin. So, they are leaving the door unlocked for some kind of continuation. It may just be that the decision on what form that will take is TBD. After all the tease of another cosplay is present in the ED. With some reasonable edits, the remaining kanon from the serialization could be done in a longer than normal movie. There is also the factor that Fukuda-sensei has indicated an intent to produce some additional content which could provide enough material for a full third season, so any decision could be pending that. YouTuber SlamAnime just dropped a wonderful essay about MDUD, making many good points about all of the deep field of characters. ‘How Do You Show Someone You Love Them?’ is spoiler free and worth the watch.

LycoReco

I think I love both of the season, season 1 does feel sweet and fun cause it just two of them, but season 2 explore more on developing Gojo as character which for me is great to have that. And the character design is beautiful, so would be waste not to use them lol

Earphone Jack

Bro, Akira had me SCREAMING! 🤣🤣🤣 I really enjoyed this season and I hope we get a season 3!

Earphone Jack

And now that this romcom is done, tike to move onto the next! I recommend Honey Lemon Soda, Skip & Loafer, or The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity. Lupa should definitely join in if you do the third. I also recommend My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 because it has a gaming element in it. Also, a more serious romance anime recommendation is My Happy Marriage.

d.sd

All of these are goated. Lv999 is a must watch

d.sd

The remaining chapters are very much centered around their relationship but I don’t think there’s enough material left for a full season

Anthony

they'll Probably make it into a special OVA or a movie, like i dream of bunny girl sempai has mini arcs as movies.

zero kurino

Honey Lemon soda is goated same with the rest of them

Jojo_avena

ya know thats a valid response from Akira way to relatable
