I got absolutely clowned on different. Social media platforms about saying that this was exactly what we were gonna get in this episode. James Gunn really loves the smell of his own farts sometimes James Gunn is a little bit too much. James Gunn for my taste and this was an example of that. It was just a really long music video with some really great acting scenes. But an overall forgettable pointless season in my opinion. And it really wouldn't have been a problem. If James Gunn himself didn't hype the last three episodes up and tease a bunch of cameos that never happened like like we didn't even hear from the brother again. And it really seemed like they were setting him up to be the next big bad.

Like most people I was pretty down on this finale, the 'added length' essentially being two damn music videos but I 'get it' last episode was the season finale we likely all expected while this was an epilouge that wraps up Peacemaker and crews internal arcs and sets up further Gunn DCU. Def a stumble and the negative of these extended universes but hopefully the feedback gets to them this early and they cut this shit out before it gets worse.

The finale was... fine. It just left me wanting more from the show and season, but not from the DCU as a whole🤷‍♂️. I hate the tease of something more without the concrete promise of it getting payed off, especially since Gunn has no current plans for an S3 and plans to finish it up in a different unknown project Edit: The unknown project is slated to be "Lanterns", which actually makes a lot of sense since it was always said to be a detective based story about missing people. That actually hypes me up a bit more than before, but it does mean we are getting them back animated🤷‍♂️

This finale was amazing. Focusing on the characters and their arcs they've had throughout the show. It's not some mcu slop where it's all about cameos and buildup for the next project. The main focus in all DCU projects should and so far has been the characters in the project itself. People who watch superhero projects have a problem because all they care about is what's next or what cameo/reference the show will have. James Gunn cares more about making a good show with complex characters and that's what he did. It's okay if you don't like character focused shows but saying this was bad is just untrue.

I know the show is called Peacemaker but it is an ensemble cast and a lot of these characters were given barely anything to do beyond showcase one trait. Vigilante is the absolute best worst example of this, he got Draxed hard.

CW-ahh ending... That being said, the idea in of itself, don't hate it. We saw Superboy trapped in the Phantom Zone in YJ. An organization trying to isolate and remove a "piece off the board" by sending them away is nothing new. Marvel has done this in regards to the Hulk and even Dr. Strange in the What If show. Where this actually goes is anyone's guess because I don't see a Green Lantern show nor the Batman-adjacent Clayface make any synergy sense.

I won’t lie if Flag dies next season I am cool with it. He didn’t do that for Rick he did it for himself. Imo I think Rick would have been able to forgive Chris especially with who he has become now (not saying it be easy, but it would of been a high possibility). As a season finale, I have mixed feelings personally. I thought it was great for the majority of the main character. Some of the turnarounds for some of the other characters were alright at best, but the one that didn't sell me was Sasha, who was initially enthusiastic about killing Chris or letting Rick Sr. kill him, but suddenly became upset that he was used by A.R.G.U.S. I still believe we left Earth X a little too fast to do something with it. I feel like we aren't done with that world yet, since Keith is still alive, but still. The ending didn't really leave me upset or annoyed, having to wait until probably 2027 for the next season. I had a 'meh' response to this ending. That's just me.

What a whole lot of nothing for all their relationships to be exactly where they were at the end of season one. A whole lot of unfollowed plot just for Rick Sr. to get some unjust revenge like he hasn’t followed orders to kill people. A completely different characterization than him in Creatire Commandos where he was working for the woman who gave the order to kill his son but wanted no revenge on her. But the guy who had a bomb in his head being forced to do shit, yeah let’s blame him. Gunn said he didn’t want cameo p*rn but did montages of his favorite bands and threw imp world and DCeased into montages. He does want cameos he just doesn’t know how to structure it so he does small stuff like that so diehards can suck his balls. Visiting whole universes and starting conflicts just to fuel Chris and Harcourt having conversations they could’ve had on their own. Showed the Justice Idiots in the retconned recap and in the first episode but Mr Terrific had no interest in all this inter dimensional traveling going on?? It’s not cameo porn if they’re actually serving a purpose to the story. Like Lex. Not a cameo. He was integral to the plot from the time he showed up to the finale. Just a whole season of Gunns “edgy” humor to distract from the fact that whole season nothing happens but Chris and Harcourt resolved an issue that was pretty much nonexistent before this season anyway. She started calling him Chris instead of Peacemaker like halfway through the first season. She was already seeing him as more than the guy who killed flag. We just had to get his wife being over dramatic for another season cause she’s doo doo at acting. Her acting as white supremacy Harcourt was awful lmao. Put a new Rick Flag in our faces for what? Just lame. “Yeah you can start that metahuman prison but make sure the first person you go after is a completely human dude who killed another human under orders from yet another human” makes sense

Exactly. Same here. People are way too online and make up their own minds before an episode even comes out. James Gunn is very clearly emotionally attached to this show and most people will probably not see things the way he does because he made it. It was super clear at the very beginning of this season that it was going to be focusing on the characters. Episode 6 and 7 were a bit off track tbh even though they were also fun and had like one or two interesting character developments. But this finale was by far the best in the whole show when it comes to how he wrote the characters. People need to be able to sit down and connect with characters too. Hopefully all these people will leave DC soon. Because even though each project will be different and possible to watch on it's own I think this general vibe Gunn has started with will still be present in all the projects. More sincerity and real character development.

People took this show way to seriously "just enjoy the ride and have fun" people want shows to have everything nowadays and huge payouts I see this season as a puzzle piece to a bigger picture of the DCU. It's like people wanted brainiac to apear from space and superman to apear behind peacemaker and lift off into the sunset or something. Yeah I know Checkmate and this is still super lame. I'm actually pretty disappointed in Gunn if he thought this would he a good finale and tease for casual viewers. Sasha actually works for Batman sometimes so the whole time I was thinking Ads was going to move to Gotham after all or they at least namedrop Lucius Fox or something more than a little sign that means nothing to anybody. For the record, I'm not mad at the lack of a cameo, I just think all of the DCU set up made the finale weaker.

That's definetly Rick FLag, but I think what the episode was trying to convey was that Rick was so blinded by anger and hatred that he got easily manipulated by Luthor. Rick starts getting power, and power corrupts him, and he starts acting the exact same way Amanda waller did, except at least Amanda Waller is smart, Rick is a dumbass, and so now he's an egotistical, easily manipulated, blinded by anger dumbass who Lex has under his thumb. Rick isn't being literally controlled or replaced, he's just an easily manipulated dumbass that was given to much power and had one ego-trip after the other. I think the finale didn't convey it that well, but I think that was the intention for Rick's character

Also, I think people just disagree on what they want bc some people on here are saying they wanted more cameos and reveals and other people are saying they don't like that stuff. Not only as a season finale, but this is technically a SERIES finale which honestly makes the ending even worse imo as someone who's loved Peacemaker, i honestly hated the way this episode essentially resolved nothing from this season except Adebayo's relationship. Huge letdown and just wanted to set up like 3 different spin offs/storylines outside of the show. i hate when superhero franchises do this crap lol especially since these Checkmate and Salvation storylines feel unearned and rushed as well. maybe longer episodes throughout the season would have helped who knows

The fact that it’s a series finale, and not a season finale, means that this is the end of this show as we know it, so now looking back at it I don’t think Peacemaker is a complete series or can stand on its own But that’s just at the top of my head lol I still loved season one and trust James Gunn with the DCU but it was just a huge disappointment for me to end the whole show in this way

From what I saw from creature commandos, i could see he was flawed but he had a good heart and like cared about the creatures more than most other ppl. Even here, I could see his darker side being clouded by revenge throughout the episodes. But in the finale??? It looks like they’re setting up Superman or another hero having to deal with ‘Flag Sr.’s bullshit, which would probably tie into Man of Tomorrow which Gunn already said will have a heavy Luthor involvement. ‘Flag Sr.’ (if that actually is Flag Sr.) seems to be helping Luthor for the sole point of getting revenge on Peacemaker for Rick Flag Jr.’s death and is furthering what Luthor was working on in regards to targeting metahumans for when Luthor inevitably gets out of prison. If this is resolved in Man of Tomorrow, Guy Gardner or Mr. Terrific alongside Harcourt and the others will probably be the ones to save Peacemaker

This season was more about closure and Set-up. Which is fine for me because that's kinda what a season finale is supposed to do. We got closure on somethings. We finally know what happened on the boat with Chris and Harcourt., and she finally admitting that night with Chris meant something to her. The break-up with Annabyo and her wife. Eagly accepting John as a friend. They bailed out Chris and Annabyo helping him see that he DOES belong, he is a hero, he is a good person. He couldn't see that. We even got new additions to the group to help Start CHECKMATE. I'm excited about that. I think Sasha The Sexy Cyborg is connected to Batman, all this is cannon from my understanding. But ppl wouldn't know bcuz not many know about the DC material. Thatd what James Gunn is trying to bring out. It may be a while before we see 11 St Kids on this show but we will see them in upcoming stuff I believe. We gotta remember this show is just a part of the whole universe Gun is trying to build up.

I just recently caught up on season 2 and also the reactions and yeah I'll agree this was a weak finale but how it ended isn't too surprising. Rick has been obsessed with peacemaker and the murder of his son all season and i'm sure he's been wanting to find some way to punish chris and this is the perfect thing.
