It's totally easy to assume otherwise but Hoshina doesn't love Kaoruko romantically! It truly is just a deeply caring and platonic friendship since they are childhood best friends and look out for one another.

For sure for sure, BUT... as a bi girl I can tell you, some of those friendships be fuzzy. I think it's great that they kept it soft so their relationship can make sense under a few different lenses.

It’s easy to see Suburu as liking Kaoruko, but it’s not like that, they just throw around the word “love” a lot for their friends, and the fact that this show shows the most care for their friends I’ve ever seen in an anime

yea I thought they were being very biased in their judgement of hoshina. Calling her selfish for not wanting kaoruko to jeopardize her future for some guy, but then praising rintaro for disregarding the serious risks this poses for no other reason than he likes her. Obviously kaoruko is competent enough to take care of herself and hoshina is definitely in the wrong for overstepping boundaries by making decisions for her, but saying she did it for selfish purposes is a wild misinterpretation of her motives imo.

I also don't agree with her being "selfish" but what she did was inherently inconsiderate to their feelings. You can't equate what she did and Rintaro "disregarding the risk", that is entirely up to them to decide not Hoshino. Rintaro's choice to not go the route of romcom drama and letting her get to him on the spot (though obv it does sit on his mind for a minute) was praise worthy IMO.

If i was in that position, I would refuse as well. It's not something for Rintaro or Hoshina to decide. It's something only Kaoruko herself can decide. At the very most, what they can do is inform her of the concern and then let her think for herself. And besides, even if they can't meet outside, they can still meet in his mother's store and chat privately. Besides, at the start of the show they're already 2nd years. Another year and they're out of highschool and then they can do whatever they want. Literally no reason to completely cut off each other
