The drug game is cooked. You spend months/years making friendships but the moment someone messes up, you need to snitch on them (to a boss you probably don’t like). While also being taught not to snitch. Then if you acquire a certain level of power, you need to be feared, but not too feared that people want to kill you. But not too nice that people take advantage of you. You also need to maintain your friendships in the real world because any civilian can snitch and have the police at your door. You also might be involved in gang wars and have to risk your life over people you don’t really care about. Why would anyone want that.

All that character development for Stef to let Sully live was bad writing. I expected more from a UK series. They made the most U.S. writing decision ever. In reality, Stef should have killed Sully then followed in Jamie’s footsteps. It’s depressing but that’s reality and what should have happened. There were so many meaningful ways to end this series and they failed miserably

Kano (sully’s actor) had big drama with production on the filming on this season over his character plot to the point Netflix had to stop shooting and Kano refusing to continue. Ashley (dushane’s) also came out and spoke both their disagreements with writers/productions over how the plot was. He spoke on how Kano and him both struggled to be heard on the creative choices when it came to the writing.

58:18 Yeah, the show telling us they were successful, but in Snowfall they showed the progress through in-depth characterization, background, home life, then showing from where they were to the heights they reached/lifestyle changes... but in this show they gave super quick glances that yea Dushane bought a nice house... and.. and.. no thats pretty much it. So it didn't feel like their lives went anywhere, they were all ghetto asses from start to finish. The characters did have a unique feel to it, but the writing FUMBLED so bad that all the characters got ruined, in my opinion. I have to add, do you know how much of a slap in the face it is that Lizzie did turn out to be the "Top Boy," Man on top, lmao.

They probably weren't trying to glorify what these dude was on. There lives was pure stress from minute 1 even when they had money and i thank the show runners for that since we see first hand how they effect their local communities.

Yeah, I agree, don’t glorify it by giving them all a bad end, at the end of the show. But it felt more like stagnation for the past 2-3 seasons (Since they nullified the character development for some of the main characters, for no reason). Even an accurate, educational documentary would have given them better “ups” before the inevitable falls, but this is a show meant for entertainment, so it’s more like bad writing, but I understand your point about it being the message of the show. Basically, I can’t give the show runners the credit since the writing has been quite terrible for a while, lol.

Dushane died bleeding out in a dumpster, he deserved it for consistently betraying anyone if it meant his own gain. Sully died by an unknown assassin because he’d made so many enemies by the end of the show, could have been anyone but Jaq (looks like her coat) is the most likely one. It’s sad that the writers ended up Game of Thrones-ing the whole show and making it end in a terribly written fire and smoke situation lol

As chaotic as the last season was, I still think that Stefan's arc was the biggest waste of time. Just utterly embarrassing. I didn't care about Dushane's fate and I really wanted Sully to die so at least, the writers got that one thing right imo.

I think the ending is good although the season as a whole was quite bad. The drug game is fucked up and things end just like they did here very often, two brothers at odds other drugs/money dying in the most insignificant dirty places

Ultimately Top Boy was a decent and entertaining show that didn't scratch it's full potential. London being the money laundering capital of the world, the opportunity for more expansive, drug related story telling was there, but the scope seemed to evaporate with Jamie's death.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed Sully split the pole. My mother is Caribbean so that shit is drilled in my head. Anyway, incredibly stupid season, but everyone has already said why. I guess I do agree with Roshi it was still fun to watch, and I do like that Stef moved on and that both Dushane and Sully were unceremoniously killed. Still would have dropped it if not for these reactions.

Sullys reversal was annoying, but if you ignore that, he was the best character. Im also glad you guys knew off the bat that it was Jaq that killed him. A lot of people like to pretend it wasnt even though you can see her iconic jacket and walk, AND she had motive n dam near told the audience she was going to do it during the convo with her girl. Top Boy was interesting because it wasnt a show simply about becoming drug lords, but it was an ongoing battle between two friends who wanted to be on top. In the end it was sully that won (even though season 1-4 Dushain would have wont for sure, S5 dushane was a dunce), but he won between Him and Dushane. Ultimately Jaq is the curent top boy of summerhouse untill her time comes to an end. Her character was probably the best of the show even though she also became dunce in the last season. Its good shes the one that killed sully.
