I think the more diabolical reveal, besides Shiggy having a copy of Overhaul's quirk, is that AFO manipulated Kotaro (Shiggy's dad) into having another child because the sister was too old. So when AFO calls it his body, he's saying that because Shiggy was born because of him.

I've seen alot of people say that the scratching is due to it being a mismatched Quirk and stress, but it actually goes a lil deeper than that. Remember that Quirks are like organs, those Vestigal memories can be attached. It was originally a Quirk from Overhaul, who had an OCD regarding dust, filth, and being touched by other people's hands. Meanwhile, Shiggy itches due to his Decay and his iconography is full of hands grabbing at him.

Though I hate what he did to Tenko, I genuinely feel bad for Kotaro too. AFO really had him fucked up and made the hurt from being left by his mom and his views on heroes way worse and made sure that lead to Kotaro being abusive toward Tenko. AFO really did all that. Basically pulled some Aizen levels of circumstance manipulation. And knowing how petty AFO is, he must've enjoyed seeing how he made Nana's son into a monster by acting like a supportive "father figure" toward him.

Is this confirmed? Because to me, his itching and scratching was from genuine stress. He only scratches himself when he is emotionally unwell because after a point in the show he stops this habit so it cant be because of his quirk. He recently started this back up when faced with reality of the situation he's in when fighting Deku and when AFO revealed everything.

Honestly you can break out in a skin rash due to incredible stress too. I honestly believe this has nothing to do with the quirk factor because Shigaraki only itches when he is under stress and things are out of his control. Remember, he kinda stopped this habit later on and only recently started itching again when facing Deku and AFO getting to him emotionally.

it's so crazy to me that the manipulation from AFO started even before shigaraki was born. he told his dad to have a second kid, he fed into the man's trauma (which AFO created by killing her) and anger about his mom being a hero, and convinced him to become more stern and eventually abusive like jesus christ. and roshi was right, he specifically targeted shimura's family after he killed her to create the most toxic environment possible for her grandchild. that man doesn't need to just die he needs to go to super mega hell

So couple things his quirk that was stolen his original quirk we’ve seen him use it’s the golden rings that makes him fly (inherited from nana shimuras flying quirk) it’s never stated in manga only in an interview. The quirk decay doesn’t exist it’s a broken copy of overhauls quirk (that was copied when he was in the orphanage) with the reversibility removed. Also dont know if you caught it but even Shigarakis conception was devised by AfO.
