That's because even the actual D&D campaign of Vox Machina started being recorded several years into their home game. The first campaign of Critical Role started airing with them at level...10, I think? And with rare exceptions, you only go up to 20. It would've taken forever to recreate all of it, with not many references.

A few things: 1) basically the beacon is as if someone stole the Erdtree. Thats how powerful it is, its just happen to be tiny compared to it. 2) my mother said that when my grandma had some episode with her memory close to the end of her life, she asked her caretaker to pack her bags and go back to her parents home. It seems like whatever Essek's mother has, is basically some sort of dementia or something, where her memories of the past mix with the present. 3) kinda don't like how they, by showing us each group member's backstory, kinda spoiled the dynamic between caleb and nott. it was a heartwarming moment to hear from her talk about her relationship with him to the group (and to us), but now that we see it first hand, its not really a shocker, its just... a thing that is happening.

Fjord has like a whiff of Cloud Strife to him. i think Jester and Fjord are my favorite so far. It would have been cool if the adventure was Grog and Pyke again but it looks like the actors are Grog and Vex. I'm hoping the new characters grow on me because Scanlan and Keyleth's new characters aren't vibing with me so far.

I’m at ep 84 of the podcast and it’s so different from the podcast which is good cause these first 2 eps you don’t even see it starts at the circus they are going to and at ep 84 I still didn’t know Essek was a traitor it’s so fun watch all the stuff they alter and I like mighty nien much more the Vox machina can’t wait to see more

Serious question because I came across critical Roll way later they were deep into campaign 3. So for someone who is an o g watcher, can someone explain to me is Jester slow, dumb, or just really young. I only ask because the conversation she had with her mother as she was trying to get her and Fjord to leave felt off. It's like she didn't understand the implications of what she'd done. The guy she pissed off seems like a really dangerous dude. So i'm just trying to understand why did she think it was a good idea to antagonize him if he's capable of such violence. Like I was genuinely afraid for that poor family. I thought he was gonna have them killed. This dude is crazy.

Jester is, overall, a mischievous and endearing little prankster, but she is also very very sheltered at the start of the campaign/show + young. The thing she said when her mom was telling her she'd need to leave the city ("you always told me to stay where I can see the Chateau") is key here, because that is quite literal lol I won't say much more on that because I believe that and her dynamic with her mom will be more explored throughout the show. But anyways - Jester is young, sheltered, and an only child of a single working mother, so boredom probably helped cultivate her troublemaker streak. She does all these pranks to pass the time (most often, at the Chateau, since she's not supposed to be out and about), so being sheltered + growing up in comfort/reasonable wealth, she hasn't really had the chance to see how seriously bad some consequences can be in the outside world. Re: "i'm just trying to understand why did she think it was a good idea to antagonize him if he's capable of such violence" - I love Jester, I just genuinely don't think she thought that far ahead lol (I will add, however: in the original campaign/origin story graphic novel, the backstory of Jester leaving the city is a *bit* different, although the main figure involved is still Lord Sharpe)

Jester isn't confirmed to be neurodivergent by her VA, Laura Bailey, or anyone else, but I can see where the delivery can be confusing. I've noticed that the vocal inflections when VAs are doing an accent other than American get a little off if it's not the accent they're used to doing. I LOVE my man Liam O'Brien, but this German sounds like he never spoke it before, but his character makes it seem like a mother tongue. And they're all very talented, but I was also confused since I have a family member similar to Jester but not sheltered, and friends who were sheltered, so I was trying to pinpoint her character and couldn't XD TL;DR: No confirmation from VA or Production, or campaign people that Jester is neurodivergent.

Laura also really pushed for the romance arc between fjord and jester in the original game, so it's nice to see it happen so fast here.

I like this approach a lot more because, forgive me if I’m wrong, I think Vox Machina started with the band already all together. Starting it this way with the group being separated, learning their backstory, it’s cool in a way, helps me connect with the characters more / care about them.

They actually started the same way in the campaign, you dont know their backstory until way later. So while it sucks having some of the plot twists revealed already i know they needed to make it more cohesive for an animated series with limited episodes.

Critical role = a youtube channel that plays DnD. Vox Machina was their 1st game. Mighty Nein is their 2nd game. All set in the same world at different times. All the VAs are who played in the games (youtubers and very famous VAs). Watch it on YT and theres a lot of videos. Its incredible. They are on their 4th campaign rn (4th game)
