ron perlman as a super mutant is peak casting. For context, he narrates the opening and endings of Fallout 1, 2, 3, and New Vegas. Glad they finally made him a in person part of the universe

Jadon

Whats Lupas knowledge of fallout again? I fr thought he was gonna get hype when the super mutant popped up cus ik off rip who that was when I saw the ball of flesh

Jonathan Barragan

That’s why he sounded so familiar I was wondering who was playing him

Itanna

It’s because this show decided to tell its own story and use the games as a backdrop for the plot. Instead of retelling the same story found in the games like so many other adaptations do, e.g The Last of Us

Jsm

He said in episode 1 “some of 3, some of 4” so I’m guessing the intro to both games + a little bit of quests.

Jadon

Ahhh ok cant fault him too much then

Jonathan Hart

Was he in the games as an npc in the main story or some side content?

Jadon

The mutants are an NPC faction in the games. Its like a race. There not just one super mutant.

Jsm

I think the location tie-ins definitely help the balancing between it being a “look! There’s that thing from that game” And an actual decent story. I think the best part of the show is the fact that it never feels like it could be impossible or farfetched within the universe of fallout.

PJ Rivera

Ron pearlman super mutant was nuts lol

Jsm

There’s a few intelligent mutants within vegas. It’s a bit hard to pinpoint it without spoiling what could be a potential plot point later on within the show.

WackoB

no Super Mutants are always a product of {{{SPOILER FOR THE SHOW FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVENT PLAYED THE GAMES}}} f.e.v.

Lamaree Jackson

I was joking when I said befriend a super mutant and it’s motherfucking RON PERLMAN?! L F G

Walter Peavy III

What i love about fallout is that it rewards you for playing the game. Everyone else will learn about what gamers know next episodes

Rhett Sumner

I was bout to say I’ve never heard of radiation causing super mutants 😂

soniq

Super mutants are actually made with F.E.V which was what norm found out on the computer before he was choked out

I VisiBomb I

I get your point, but you made it sound like you just enjoy having the show spoiled to you.

Huemon_Nottabear

"You can't take away people's right to be assholes" Simon Phoenix

Eldiablo561

31ers is now my favorite insult 😂😂

WackoB

nope, he injected himself with that stuff to become a super mutant to survive the radiation of the glowing sea.

WackySwacky

They finally gave the narrator an actual role in-universe.

WackySwacky

Lupa hasn’t played much, because stuff like Super Mutants are present in every game and this got zero reaction.

Jadon

That's what I was thinking lol cus there were some other times I was like Lupa, you don't know what that is? Lol like the drugs from the other episode lol or the power fist lol

GonkDroidCritic

Literally a Pluribus episode of Hank manipulating his daughter that getting rid of individualism equals peace

maseken

RON PERLMAN FINALLY NOT JUST A NARRATOR!!! Super Mutant gang

Gilthwixt

Hooooly shit did they cook this episode. I love how they introduced Supermutants, the Old Mormon Fort & the Enclave. They basically intentionally shot the scene in a way that looks sinister so show onlys would assume the worst but fans of the game immediately knew what was up lol.

Gilthwixt

Y'all are so weird about spoiler culture lol. It is not a spoiler to be able to see breadcrumbs the showrunners are putting down to hint at what's coming. It's more like a breadstick appetizer before dinner, not eating desert before the meal.

Gilthwixt

Same thing with the Deathclaws too. IMO we gotta leave Lupa alone on this lol, he sat down to play the games maybe a couple of times and now y'all are scrutinizing the credentials like ICE or smth 💀

Ken

So what I gathered from this episode is that I think the scientist was part of the enclave and the facility at the beginning of the show was the enclave facility. I’m pretty sure they had a death crawler on a stretcher which I think means they are the ones making them and they are the ones behind everything. And the weevil famine, I think that was the experiment. I think that was the forced evolutionary virus. I think

Xemnas27

The dad gives no fucks lmaoo

Mervyn Larrier

This episode was heat. Betty is gonna start catching bodies next episode, i know it. And Ron Pearlman as the super mutant?? I really hope he comes back. Only complaint is uranium is a shiny gray color; that shit was Kryptonite

HBK713🏄🏾‍♂️

I was watching the original 1984 Dune today and realized Hank was the original Lisan Al Gaib 😁

HBK713🏄🏾‍♂️

I hope cause ol leader of the inbreeding pissing me off 😆😆 and Ron Pearlman was A+ casting

Drewb

the book Hank talks to Lucy also had a great movie come out a couple years ago, "All Quiet on the Western Front". Horrifying portrayal of WW1 but well made. The book is also just as if not more scary as it shows how bad it was and is one of the first anti-war books/multiple movies that became popular. kinda wild he read that with her as a kid lol. also you guys are missing the outro art that gives little insight into the story at the end of each episode.

mansbestanky

Lets not forget Hank didn't nuke just a town, he nuked the capital of an entire nation, to the NCR shady sands getting nuked would be like if Washington DC got nuked for us. This dude is insanely evil 😂

mansbestanky

I think since the games never had ghouls using vials, my personal theory is that only the ghouls that are starting to turn feral need them, but not all ghouls turn feral its sort of random.

Jadon

Oh yea I already said i cant blame him lol I just forgot what he said his knowledge was.

WackySwacky

I think they’re trying to retcon the wife into being a good person after the fan backlash they got in Season 1 about Vault Tech being the ones who dropped the bombs. It was a bit of a ridiculous idea, so this season I think they switched gears and are going to blame the bombs on a different entity.

Ernie

I swear i was thinking this mf supermutant sounds like Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and i checked.. IT IS

Grimm

Fun Fact Ron Perlman has narrated Fallout since the very 1st game.

MaxedOut01

To be fair, the vault tech / Enclave starting the war theory has been around for a long time. The show seems to really be pushing the Enclave narrative now, we know in the lore that Vault Tech and the Enclave work very closely together.

MaxedOut01

All Quiet on the Western Front has three different movie adaptations. They're all pretty good. It definitely fits the darker tone of Fallout.

Diablos Cafe

Wow that’s crazy, I bet they tried to get him for season 1 and couldn’t.

Diablos Cafe

I agree, seems weird to switch gears like that. It made the story much more interesting, now she’s just a victim. But then again it would make sense why Coop said he was looking for his family & not just his daughter in the first season.

Diablos Cafe

Usually if he says he played something or read the comics it’s not in depth as you’d think 😭 it’s just beginner knowledge he would know over someone who knows nothing

Lamarr Clarke

10:14 Never Seen THREE People In Sync Before.. Ya This Is The Matrix

Drewb

Ah true. Just figured most wouldn’t care for a movie from 1930 and beyond. Kinda surprised more haven’t heard about it.

RnicJaay

I think I like Season 2 more than 1

Clinton the Bingethinker

Ron The Fallout narrator/Hellboy/Slade Perlman is a Super Mutant and I love it

NovaVortex

Got me singing uranium fever when the song started 😂🤌

Dexter Gaba

Funny you said that guy was Strong cuz that might be his name. Super Mutant buddy for life.

Paden Snell

Honestly i hate this backtracking the "vault tech dropping the bombs" thing. I liked that twist from season 1. it feels very ham fisted the way they are walking it back. Makes that plot line from season 1 feels pointless. And makes me feel like they don't really have a strong vision for the show in general. Season 2 altogether has felt pretty aimless and disjointed to me.

Ayojii

Barb feels like she has to keep playing her part or she will be DISSMISSED by whoever the puppet master is. What she's doing is terrible but more understandable.

Tejanoman k

highly doubt it is strong. what if it's fawkes

Polo

Definitely not Strong. Cause if it is he got way more intelligent. Which is unlikely, but at the same time they have been changing some stuff. So who knows.

Rhett Sumner

Same. I came to this conclusion after the goated Lucy vats moment, finally seeing her be ‘good for heads’ set to the banger Cocaine blues was so peak 😭😂

Rhett Sumner

Idk in my opinion they planned this all along. They clearly at least thought ahead somewhat if you go back and watch wilzigs scenes in S1 you’ll see the foreshadowing. Plus i think they knew it would cause a stir to the hardcore fans to suggest vault tec dropped the bombs, and now the true villain is coming to light, which we all know has really been the enclave. I trust these writers and given how we have only heard the og fallout theme once per season when focusing on NCR flag and guns, i think they are setting them up to be long term protagonists of the show. Just like with the bomb dropping misdirect, they know fans would be up in arms over the decline of the ncr, so they pull the wool over everyone’s eyes and manage to make a really compelling mystery that excites non fans, while also exciting and surprising long time fallout gamers. These last 2 will stick the landing, have faith!

Oliver

Love how terrifying they are making the Super mutants when we are used to see so many 100's on the east coast XD

Delinda Arts

Fallout is like Silo is the footage was color graded lmao

Delinda Arts

A random Ron Perlman showing up for 10 minutes. As soon as I heard that voice I was thrown back to when I first watch Hellboy🔥

WillGlacier

Let's goooo some Super Mutants stuff. I knew we were gonna see more of them since they talked about the F.E.V last episode but didn't think it would be this early!

T2M

I highly doubt it, if you are somewhat learned in storytelling you can tell the writer is an architect, all twists and character interactions and the development of the entire story is already planned out and for that to be a retcon there is too much stuff harmonizing with how it plays out now, specifically the information about the ghoul and how he talks about the past and his family etc. Its just written as a simple misdirect, we get a twist for season 1 and now with the truth revealed it keeps you engaged in season 2 aswell. It myself find this is almost always somewhat "cheap" but its a common practice in these hollywood tv series.

Ok3_Leek

Lupa must’ve never made it out the vault on the game all niggas know is radroach 🤣

Just Gene

Been a while since I've played 1 and 2, and I was a little young so didn't fully comprehend. But I'm glad to see more Enclave stuff.

A

I just got finished watching Righteous Gemstones, so I can't not hear Baby Billy's voice but Walton Goggin's has quickly become one of my favorite actors

Jamaal Ellison

Damn if it's one thing Ron Pearlman is gonna always do it's sitting in a makeup chair for hours to put on prosthetics. He's gets that money by any means necessary.

Jamaal Ellison

I am ambivalent about the portrayal of the wife as an unwilling participant in this malevolent organization. I appreciated her initial depiction as possessing a degree of malevolent agency, even if her motivations were misguided. It is acceptable for a female character to embody villainous traits. I perceive this as an unwarranted retcon. I favored the first season's premise, where she believed her actions were justified and served a noble purpose. I would have preferred if she were sufficiently integrated into the situation to recognize its inevitability, understanding that these events would transpire regardless of her consent, and that she was merely striving to secure a favorable outcome for herself, her daughter, and her husband—a necessary evil for the well-being of her family. Cooper's affection for his wife introduces a layer of complexity to the narrative.

33:03 UGHHHHHHHHH.... Leland....

Squaler

Barbara was a whole participant in the nuking. She ain’t getting no passes. Lmao
