Higuruma's moral compass really shines here in such a beautiful way; as jaded and disappointed as he had become by the failures of the criminal justice system, when he saw an innocent person about to be wrongly convicted again, he immediately remembered why he became a public defender in the first place: to help and protect the weak. It says so much about the kind of person he is, and it's so lovely that Yuji was able to bring him back to the light.

I think that last question about whether or not Yuji killed someone of his volition was about the deformed humans he was forced to down during his encounters with freakazoid. If I recall correctly that was really tough for Yuji in the moment. Especially with that one kid that got tricked into going down the dark path. Also the brothers that were technically half-curses

Higuruma wouldn’t have been a very popular judge amongst the prosecutors and other judges. He wouldn’t have played ball with the others that wanted to prosecute and convict the first available suspect they could, like that guy at the beginning of last episode. So he probably would’ve gotten driven out by the others eventually.

Here is the breakdown for Higuruma's domain Is a non lethal domain therefore it activates in seconds. No violence is allowed in this domain even the user is forced to follow the rules Judgeman is a shikigami that charges the opponent with a crime, the defendant has a chance to defend themselves by either denying the crime, confessing or remaining silent. Higuruma is the prosecutor, he gets all the info he needs on the opponent, it goes directly to his brain, his domain grants him a folder with said information of any crime they have committed. Judgemam will deliver the verdict if the opponent is innocent nothing happens, However if they are guilty Judgeman issues a punishment or sentences which are imposed immediately. Confiscation removes all their curse energy. If its a severe sentence, Execution then Higuruma is given the executioner sword which kills the opponent with one hit insta kill. Making Higuruma the strongest sorcerer of the present day in his domain. With the exception of Satoru Gojo of course.

Fatal Sentencing doesn’t tell Higuruma if the defendant is guilty. What it does is tell him what the evidence is in the envelope. He didn’t know that Yuji played some of the games in that casino, all he knew was that Yuji got some cash at the pawn shop across the street. That was the only piece of conclusive physical evidence that Judgeman could provide for the trial. Basically, if a cop can provide it for a regular trial, then so can Judgeman. On the other hand, the evidence he got for the Shibuya trial straight up told him that Sukuna had taken over Yuji’s body. So he was expecting Yuji to say innocent.

Short answer is just anime/fiction/magic logic. Long answer is probably because Tengens barrier covers the entirety of Japan(almost) and is omnipresent in a way, so a omniscient shikigami formed from using Jujutsu like Judgeman would be able to use the barriers/cursed energy in those barriers also made from Jujutsu to pick specific moments in time for information to use in trial. Think of Tengens barriers as the internet and Judgeman is a search engine like Google basically. That’s just my headcanon but it makes the most sense to me rn lmao.

This season has been excellent at combining cost cutting animation tactics with conscious design decision that end up looking better and less animation-costly.

He's not the strongest because he still has to kill his opponent with the executioner's sword. There's plenty of sorcerers who are simply too fast or powerful that would kill him instantly and avoid his sword. Yuta, Maki (who wouldnt even be affected by Higurumas domain), Gojo, Sukuna, disaster curses, Kenjaku, Yuki, and who knows possibly even some G1 sorceres. So no, Higuruma isn't even close to the strongest but he has the potential to become the strongest.
