S3 is currently filming for a while now and is slated to end in June. Speculation is S3 will release mid-late 2027. Also Zoro's actor has stated that Oda has a plan on which arc they will end this show or at least end this cast. I think they will at some point switch the actors so that the age difference doesn't become too much because the actors are of course aging unlike the characters

Only reason it's getting praised? Gotta disagree, I am a big One Piece fan but to be honest I am not a fan of the anime at all, I'm like 70% manga only. There are two big things that get you hooked onto One Piece. 1. Do you like Luffy? 2. Do you like the Strawhats crew dynamic? With those two things the series can carry you A LOT. The strawhat actors have some really good chemistry that sells you on the crew and honestly I just like watching them interact, just like in the manga and anime. I find Live Action Luffy just as annoying as anime/manga Luffy, Zoro just as cool, Emily Rudd is cute and fits Nami, Sanji is charming and way toned down and Usopp is Usopp. Add on to the fact that they even attempt to pull off the cartoonish nature of One Piece without trying to tone down the goofiness and pull off side characters as well (Garp and ESPECIALLY Buggy are great casts) with a sprinkle of the 'live action anime' expectations being a bit low can give you an idea of why this adaption is liked by many.

They put a LOT of sauce into the animation but I have to say one of my biggest issues with One Piece is that it meanders a lot, the arcs tend to last way too long. Remember that arc in Naruto Shippuden when they were trying to save Gaara? Remember how it dragged on and on. It feels like every arc feels that way to me.

I think it is a fun interpretation of a story we already have seen/read the manga is always going to be the prime source and what I will always recommend, but this is going to be the second version UP TO a certain point. I think if this Live Action ever reaches Skypeia the cracks will start to show because that is a thick arc and I don't know how well Enel could translate to Live Action. This is a great way to get people invested in the characters during these early arcs that, outside of Arlong Park are not the best (I'd easily recommend watching or reading that) The worst thing about Live Action anime adaptions is the lack of respect for the source material which you cannot say about this show whether you like it or not, a lot of love went into it so even with that, it's already a plus for me, add on the straw hat dynamics and it's solid. Since people hate reading for whatever reason and also newer anime fans may not want to deal with the older animation, this is a perfect inbetween, like I said, up to a certain point. Chopper is pushing it, Franky may be too much lol but if this solidly adapts up to the end of Alabasta and gets people right into Skypiea, wether reading or watching, that is a great win for the show and just one piece fandom in general

I find the series to be satisfactory. My primary reservation pertains to the perceived theatricality in the performances of certain characters. It appears as though they are attempting to emulate their animated counterparts, which I personally find less effective. This perspective may stem from my long-standing familiarity with the animated version and the associated vocal performances, which have been deeply established over two decades. Furthermore, I also have some reservations regarding the costume designs. The integration of musical scores from the original anime would likely enhance the overall production quality of the show. I will say the visual effects, the action scenes, and the brutality are all A+.

Yeah.. Roshi get's it, this show is just FUN and yes Buggy's actor is crazy. I hope people do not get deterred by the engagement farming with out of context clips on twitter, your just missing out tbh. The manga and the anime are not going anywhere, and this does not ruin them nor intend to replace them/make them irrelevant. This is just a nice remix of early arcs that, so far, is doing a great job gaining new fans. Just sit down and enjoy some whimsy for an hour at a time, if your using the word 'cringe' when talking about One Piece.. the Looney Tunes anime, your doing it wrong.

@Jamaal Ellison While I don't agree 100%, I think that is only a criticism to throw at Luffy which honestly, he is supposed to be goofy I'm fine with that and actually like the actor's performance, he is annoying in the anime to tbh its just part of his character, but this show would NOT be palatable if Usopp and ESPECIALLY Sanji tried to emulate how animated their counterparts are in the anime. Imagine them trying to actually be faithful and find a why for Sanji perv jokes and nosebleeds to be incorporated into LA lol OG music would be fine but that can be a nitpick, and I believe the og cast is dubbing in Japanese no? I think everybody in the show has their strengths when it comes to acting. Like yes that one scene with Zoro in season one could’ve been better but at the same time after watching other films with that actor where he’s speaking Japanese I realize if he’d said those same lines in the scenes in One Piece in Japanese it probably would’ve been more convincing and also remember y’all have to realize the fact that certain moments from anime and manga don’t always translate well in live action or in motion in general. It’s a reason why there’s a big difference between voice acting in animation and actual physical acting in reality or reading something in your head that sounds cool but saying it out loud comes off cringe

Roshi's explanation at the end is literally what I have been saying the whole time One Piece inherently isn't that serious of an anime and this show captures that its intentionally bad I see people complaining about Inaki's acting being bad and don't realize the reason most live actions don't work is because it tries to take itself seriously and move away from the source material One Piece is a goofy anime and I think the show being that overly goofy is why its working expect the acting everything else in the show is incredible from sets, affects to costumes is on point if they had remotely giving Luffy a different personality and try to make feel "realistic" this would of been another bad Live action Also this show is obviously catered towards causals and is ment to bring in new audience not everyone is gonna be interested in watching 1000 ep let alone watch anime most of the reaction channels that are watching this show are people that never watched One Piece and are enjoying it for what it is i always enjoy watching the reactors discussion at the end of how they felt about the episode what stood out to them ect. I don't think people realize how much of a tone down live action is compared to most animated shows. Their personalities in the anime are exaggerated to make it more appealing in that kind of format but realistically it's not going to be easy to 100% transfer it to live action, especially for characters like Luffy and Sanji who are over the top at times.

This version of One Piece works especially well because it’s a different medium from the manga and anime. They have to take into account future events in the story and PURPOSELY set them up for future relevance later and it allows for those of us who have seen the OG stuff to be like “oh that’s cool”. The faithfulness to the wacky and original vibe of the source material is why I like this show

The issue with Luffy as a character is that his personality is extremely cartoonish. Someone like him just doesn't exist in reality. So trying to have a real person portray said character is going to come off as seeming fake. But your choices are to either have Inaki play a believable realistic role and it's mostly just Luffy in name, or have him play Luffy and it comes off as fake.

Sheera is right though Inaki does a great job playing Luffy. He has the hardest character to portray. Sheera hasn't even seen the one piece anime and she gets it. Us that watch the anime/ read the manga really know how difficult Luffy is to bring to live action. I get that some of his moments don't hit and land the same as the manga/anime, and may come off as cringey or corny. But as someone who's been a big one piece fan for many many years I appreciate Inaki's effort as Luffy so much.

Some people criticizing the show are often forgetting what type of story the anime and manga truly is. One Piece is arguably one of the most if not the most cartoonish anime of all time. It’s known to be wacky, goofy, crazily over the top and it’s in another language so of course when you make a world like this with real people it’s going to come off cringey or over the top but if it didn’t stick to the source material and made it too grounded and realistic, people would complain that they didn’t stick to the source material. Everybody in this show is doing a good job for what they’ve been able to do especially for a story like One Piece and pretty much stepped up their game. So if anyone doesn’t like it then don’t watch it but don’t say the live action is cringe when we’re talking about One Piece in general. It’s not like other animes that are very serious like Rurouni Kenshin where it’s not too hard to do in live action which were actually fire btw

in the first season she was overweight for the role, and similar to the actual character as seen in the actual series. then, after eating her devil fruit, she gets slim, and so the actress actually lost weight for that, which is amazing. that being said, her hard work is more difficult to notice due to all the close-ups that they do on her face, and then it becomes very difficult to realize the actual change she did. also, by the name of the fruit, you'd think that her skin would be slippery, and indeed it is supposed to be, but here they decided to keep it drier than most of the cast for some reason, and so they fuck up the No.1 rule of show don't tell. unless she had told the audience what just happened, we would never have guessed that its what happened.

Luffys character is cringe and corny but that’s just how he comes off naturally, his actor on the other hand is acting cringe, that’s how it comes off, while an actors job is to immerse you in the character, the way he does his job takes you out of it, his scenes don’t come off as natural but forced and off putting, i understand the limitations of portraying luffys personality irl which is why i think a better decision would’ve been to tone down that aspect rather than go for a 1:1 match in luffys cringe and energy

That’s what an actors job is, not sure if you realise that, no matter the role you are in, if it’s coming off as unnatural, you’re not doing your job as an actor, luffys character is difficult in that regard so the actor bit off more than he can chew, the correct decision here would’ve been to tone it down for him as he does a good job in non cringey scenes, not everything done in animation should be translated into live action. This isn’t just an issue with luffys character but also some of the dialogue in the show, when doing it live action they need to make the dialogue more natural like real life dialogue, but in some scenes it just sounds like they’re speaking a cartoon script, ive seen a lot of fans of this series defend the live action to their last breath and im like, why is VERY OBVIOUS criticism something they can’t take? The show is obviously not perfect and these are very obvious things im pointing out that aren’t great in the show, if this wasn’t a one piece show people wouldn’t give it nearly as much slack as they do currently

This doesn’t have to do with him having a fan base. This is my second time seeing this actor and only other thing I saw him in is season one and I say he’s doing a good job. If Luffy is cringey in the anime and that’s what the actor is doing doesn’t means he’s butchering the character. “Butchering the character” would mean he completely changed the character’s personality and his actions. Like you said in multiple replies you think they should’ve toned his cringey side down but that’s the point of the character. Voice acting for animation and physical acting are two different things. Voice acting have more freedom to be loud and cringey cause their voice is their only muscle to get that emotion and personality across of what they’re reading. Physical actors have to use not only their voice but their whole body into what they’re doing especially if they’re adapting something that was animated but if they doing less of what their character is known for from it’s original material then they’re almost or fully completely changing the identity of their character. You said he’s forcing to be cringe and over the top but that’s what Luffy represents. Even when things get emotional for him and seems like the end he puts on a joyous demeanor to keep pushing forward sometimes he can get emotional or worried at times which the live action has shown a couple times and you even admitted earlier when he’s not being cringey he’s decent. Either way bro it ain’t about what you and some people think. The show works for some people due to its acting, visuals, and sticking to the source material and some people think it doesn’t work which you are a part of. Doesn’t mean they’re a part of that actor’s fan base but more of what they like so far from them. And if the show didn’t work critically then many people who are or aren’t fans of the anime wouldn’t care to watch the live action but the fact that there are means they like what they see

Also Live Action is really a hit or miss with certain adaptations from the manga/Anime. It's because Oda is actively on set and hand picks the cast and spends time with them(yes those lucky ducks got to meet Oda) as where yuyu was just to get people into the anime and they weren't sure if it would get enough attention and love as you know most, but not all live actions struggle to execute gracefully. A little fun fact about Luffy while there’s hundreds of characters in one piece and all of them have thought bubbles in the manga where we see their thoughts however Luffy himself has NO thought bubbles, I’ve seen people interpret it as him having no thoughts just being a man of action or his intentions not being revealed just yet but it’s a cool thing to me either way

Buggy is the best actor so far, the fantastic actors help to keep the show going while the newer group really enjoy the show and try to get things in the anime into the live action.
