They really don’t *need* it, this show does a perfectly good job for folks who haven’t watched the rest getting them up to speed, I just think they’d like this show even more if they got a little more context to wha maul has been up to since phantom menace.

Maul has other arcs during it, but you could just watch Season 7 (could even start at episode 8 if you want to shorten it further) if you want to know what his current motivations are. This show is about one year later.

I doubt they'll pause Maul to do this, but y'all could just watch Season 7 episodes 8-12 to see the criminal syndicate setup that leads into this show and explains Maul's motivations. Shadow Lord takes place about a year later. Plus, you'll get a bunch of dope Ahsoka content. Episode 8 is kind of the ending of an Ahsoka mini-arc and you could go back to episode 5 to see how that starts, but honestly some of those episodes are rough.

Brother, you gotta relax a little. It’s not that serious. Clone Wars has some high highs, but most of it isn’t very good. On top of that, it’s way too long for them to dedicate schedule space to. But the main reason they should just watch this new show? They don’t *need* to watch clone wars first. This show does an excellent job giving you the info you need. All you really need to know coming in is who Maul is, and just the most basic Star Wars stuff. They know plenty to enjoy this show, even if they’d probably enjoy it a little more with all the context from the clone wars.

To be fair, the Clone Wars of this style finally got animated in Season 7, around 2020-2021 AFTER the original show ended. They then continued this style in The Bad Batch, after seeing them from the first 4 episodes of Season 7 which featured them, as well as the other mini-series (forgot their names though).

SO I can understand you guys not wanting to react to the Clone Wars, since some episodes were hit-and-misses, BUT the later Seasons of that show like about 3-5 were kickass, plus Season 7 at least ties into Ahsoka's story alongside Maul in the last 4 episodes of that season. Heck, even Season 6 had some plot-threads connecting to Season 7 even though it was canceled midway if you're curious about the Clones themselves...! Also hilariously enough, I remember when you guys reacted to Ahsoka live-action series, it was called "Star Wars Rebels Season 5" because the characters from the live-action needed backstories to understand what the hell happened leading up to that point. But oh well...

I will be very honest with the comments. I'm a huge star wars fan. I've read books, watched all the movies, have so many collectibles. I have never watched Clone Wars, or Rebels, or Bad Batch. I still have so much fun and LOVE Ahsoka series, this series and etc. So while watching them might make things make more sense or have more references and etc, watching new things coming out is still just as fun for us who didn't. And yes that's right, I said just AS much fun. I've watched Ahsoka several times, written things, drawn, bought artwork. Way more fun with it than many. Now I'll still watch them some day, but I have no rush to do so. So while I'm sure it would be cool to have Roshi react to them first, I'm perfectly happy with getting the new stuff until if he ever does and I think he can have fun this way too.

There are numerous essential episode lists that remove a lot of the filler and non-major plot related episodes. Y'know, the random adventures of C-3P0 and R2D2, those kinds of episodes. I did that and it probably cut the watch time in half and I still got all the important bits that hit hard. And yea Season 6-7 (god damnit) you really shouldn't skip any

Look I knooow you guys said no in the intro, buuuuuuut.. There is a non filler watch guide for clone wars that's literally only the important story parts involving the main cast AKA Anakin Skywalker (and his slow decent to the dark side), Obi Wan, Ashoka, Maul in their absolute primes. And some of the clones that play a massive roll as well. It cuts out a ton of the show overall. Not to mention the last season is probably one of the coolest animated star wars made.
