So in the earlier season when Hannah told Egon that Ulrich r*ped Katharina, you saw her in the police station with a black eye. That was supposed to be a red herring to trick us and Egon into thinking he did do it. Katharina's mother is abusive and that's how she got the black eye. Lupa is right that's why she was stumbling and afraid of her mother in the mental hospital. Its also why she's so physical and aggressive. She tied Regina to the tree, she beat up Regina in the school in 2019. She also gets aggressive with Hannah often. She's raised in violence, its actually amazing how good she is to her kids lol though she did smack Martha when Martha said "Mikkel is dead"

They showed in season 2 Claudia and Ulrich's dad had a thing together. I believe it was when she was at the power plant and saw him there. They touched hands and talked about wanting to see each other again. The whole season had moments where they seemed to have interest in each other.

We as viewers were fully aware that Ulrich wasn't abusive and the encounter was consensual, so I'd consider it an in-universe red herring but not an intentional one on behalf of the show's plot.

She doesn't say her mom does it iirc, she says it happened somewhere else. I don't think she admits to being abused and also to that point people don't always admit to being abused. So some people just had doubt sown because of it. The show places that scene like that very well, because as its shot, its Ulrich and Katharina having sex which we don't see, then Hannah says rape, and the next time we see Katharina is with a black eye. There's no in between of Katharina after being with Ulrich without the black eye
