One reason I call this an Isekai is they had her sucked up in a l Tornado in a place with no Tornados. Like Floridians know, Peninsulas get hurricanes. Tornados only happen I land locked places like Oklahoma. So they went with the magic route here

I always thought of it as Se Ri being Snow White, and the Squad as the Seven Dwarves, notably because each member has an exaggerated character trait. My favorite is the KDrama weeb due to how meta he gets in the show, explaining KDrama tropes while living in a KDrama

Ohhhhhhhhh I can't wait to see your reactions as the show goes on....! OH AND WATCH THE ENDING EPILOGUES (since they're important to the show)... Also keep an eye on the brothers, because you can pretty much gauge what they're like from the first scene alone personality-wise... It'll add up let's just say later on in the show... Also when they say things like "unpowered aircraft", it's NK's wording of how they say certain things that's not how SK say things. To me, it's the equivalent to the modern way of saying it vs an old way of saying it (i.e. SK is "air-glider"-or in this case a parachute-, while NK is more traditional, "unpowered aircraft"). You'll see more of this as you watch this show, like how certain words are different to another side per se.

There is something very funny to me that the South Korean portrayal of the North Korean military is actually more impressive than the reality. The idea of a standard squad of NK border guards having fully modernized kits, including night vision and flak armor, is hilarious.

For the tofu thing: it's tradition for people released from prison to eat tofu in the hopes that they'll "live a clean life" as pure and white as the tofu. I learned that from Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, one of my favorite movies lol

I mean I'm not the guy in charge of supplying the NK military so obviously there is a realm of unknown. But the basic facts of NK military capacity is not as big a secret as people think. And the numerous defectors have painted a very clear picture of their economic and military technology/logistics situation. Many NK defectors not only were never equiped with Kevlar, but didn't understand what it was, some thought it was a type of plastic. Almost all of the military gear NK has is made in China or Russia, the vast majority of which is hand me downs from decades ago. The Night vision they do have is from the 80s, is monovison, and is not in large enough supply to equip every border troop with.(That would be hard even for the US to do and we have NVGs coming out of our ear holes) They have some modern gear but they reserve it for certain elite units(and frankly, to show off in parades) Anywho it doesn't really take away from the show, I just found it humorous how this South Korean media portrayed them.

i agree. it’s also a kneejerk reaction for many to see the kids’ school routine as creepy but people who visit the US are also (rightfully) weirded out by the recitation of the pledge of allegiance. some things are a matter of perspective.

I never got around to finishing this so I'll finish it with ya'll~ I remember while it was airing it got into a lot of political controversy like every week-the reasons why will be shown later. it still did amazing ratings wise, even making history on the channel it aired on.

love this for the education it is giving those who dont know about north korea and how the two countries are still beefing. i thought it was common knowledge. their border situation is worse than what trump is doing with the wall to mexico. they dont play at all. anyone not a citizen caught slacking is immediately taken to jail, right away. american tourists and journalists have been taken and killed in prisons in north korea cause they were found near the demilitarized zone and north koreans claimed they were on their property so they are able to capture them and not all of them made it out alive. that dictator is making real communism look bad

the ticket thing is something the u.s. did in the 30s during the great depression. everything was rationed so based on your household size you get a certain amount of each food item a month, very similar to how a lot of food banks work. communism = commune. everyone works what they can provide and the government/community evenly gives out supplies and food as is needed per person aka money isnt needed. the tickets are used instead of money and it helps to make sure everyone got exactly what they needed, no more no less. no excess and no one suffers. mandatory daily exercise keeps the people fit and healthy! the brainwashing with the songs is a hot mess though
