One thing thats really fucked abt this movie is that Simone Ashley had all of her scenes cut from the movie after she voiced support for Palestine :/ she was meant to be one of the mechanics also I still like this movie, but it does leave a sour taste in my mouth abt them punishing Simone over saying smth small vs Brad Pitt having a controversy list a mile long. As a Formula 1 fan, this movie reaction is so random for yall to react to. But thank you for this! I hope yall react to ALONG WITH THE GODS too ♥️ Also, Lupa to add to your question earlier.. he was doing the 24 hours of Daytona race. An endurance sports car race to which they race for many hours. And yes it is a GT3 car specifically Porsche 911 GT3 R. The movie filmed during the real IMSA Rolex 24 at Daytona, which is why the grid looked authentic with real manufacturers and teams as well as the F1 race. The only difference is that he wasn’t the one driving in formula 1 (they used a real professional driver to drive the f1 car) Although he did experience driving the McLaren MCL60 (McLaren’s 2023 F1 car) outside the filming of the movie. He drove it at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.

I hope ya'll see this but you should react to an anime called "overtake" Its an f1 racing anime but the plot is more centered around the main character overcoming trauma but he develops as he spends time around a makeshift f1 team. I promise its really good. The plot focus isnt so much racing as it is personal growth for multiple characters.

To add onto this, the cars the actors drove were modified F2 cars that look like F1 cars. In addition to driving on empty tracks during the race days they also super imposed the movie cars on past races to get the parts where we see them racing with other F1 cars. The car stuff is wild, but the camera stuff is also crazy!

I have a love hate relationship with this movie. From a movie perspective, it hit me as peak "Old White Man Fantasy." The plot with the engineer was borderline insulting, and the combat chant literally had me gagging. That's not even getting into my issues as an F1 fan. All that to say I agree, but I do think it deserves credit for the filmmaking and set pieces.

I mean, imo there was character growth which I love, a good story, good acting, great cinematography, Brad pitt's character was very smart and tactical which was great, etc. Wasn't basic or mindless to me so with all that seems unfair to categorize this as slop imo, I think that's unfair.
