Honestly, I'm not a fan of this version of Bard's Lament compared to the original. The original Bard's Lament, if they had done it right, should have been the Season 3 finale, especially if they did it the same way. Scanlan and Kaylie left the group after he revealed his anger toward them and all of the emotion he held back. This season could have more moments of the group exploring how they treated Scanlan in the past, like in the original sprinkle throughout this season until their reunion. I'm probably the only one who feels this way because I have watched Critical Role since the very first episode on Geek & Sundry.

It was out of their control. Scanlan's VA was recovering from throat cancer, that's why he abruptly appears just in this episode. The alternative would have been sprinkling in flashbacks of him being silent...which would be weird

The bard's lament happened a bit differently in the campaign. It was something that was supposed to happen end of season 3 but they just felt it wouldn't make sense and would be kind of bad to end the season with it if they didn't get a 4th and 5th but it's such big scanlan moment and some of Sam's best work that they had to find a way to include it. The original was also a lot more angry but here it makes sense they changed the emotions to make it more that he was sad. https://youtu.be/N0_Z_qHzS_g?si=TxIT5nWe_P13DGZy Here is the original, there's no spoilers for anything beyond ep 8 in this video but some funny context is that Sam did this, and then he immediately came back with Tary and the cast were so (lovingly) annoyed lmao. Actually in their latest stream both Sheera and Roshi enjoy the live action Avatar more than the live action One Piece so I would way they definitely like the show.

@izak who cares if it’s “ass”.. a lot of shit they watch is ass… do they ever stop watching it? no. the 2nd season is literally better than the 1st so if they were going to quit they should’ve stopped a quarter into season 1

I've also watched the entire campaign and I actually really appreciate the adaptation for what it is. It makes arguably some more sense as a cohesive TV narrative.

Listening to them robbed the ppl who was interested of being able to see it & for what ? In favor of shows they like. @RedSuncrusher!!! I mean, the first season of the LA ATLA wasn't bad. The second season is pretty much unwatchable. @Samuela Shannon - you are being dramatic. No one was bullying the trio. People expressed how crap the new season was and they responded to their audience's feedback.

@Sekraan I do agree with you that season 2 sucks that I can definitely agree with. But I do feel bad for the trio because they did like the show I see both sides of the parties. The patrons and the creator's whatever the outcome it's a lose lose situation for either parties depending on what show/movie it is the only good thing that came out of them dropping LA ATLA was Mr. Robot. But I hope that they might come back to watch it or at least watch it on their own time.

You know this is how they make money, right? Roshi has on many occasions said they work for us and they're not gonna waste their time watching anything we aren't enjoying. Idk if you're new here, but they have forced themselves to continue series that we enjoy but they don't, unless it was really bad. This is how it works here. @Kermit What? That has nothing to do with what they said. Scanlan was absent back in the campaign as well, long before the cancer. Him recovering had nothing to do with the ending of last season, nor the diminished version of it we got in this ep. They didn't do it last season because they didnt know if there would be a Season 4. Which imo is a bad reason to just completely change the source material, and then try to shove in a mediocre watered down version of that ending into this episode.
