I had never heard of this movie, but I grew up watching kung fu movies with my dad and this was an absolute delight! I'm mad I didn't go to the theater to support, I'll probably get the blu ray if they make one. The whole time I was thinking that this is sort of what a modern day Jackie Chan movie would look like and sure enough the director's biggest inspiration was Jackie Chan. I know that sounds crazy, but you could kind of tell. It's more of a black comedy than a comedy and I wouldn't call it light hearted, but they made sure to show the kids were fine very early on, not to mention all the hilarious choreography and use of normal objects and the fights with his daughter. 10/10, no notes, I eagerly await the prequel and the sequel starring his adult daughter.

This is an action film straight up. The chorography of climbing over people and using things in their environment like in a Jackie Chan movie helps this stand out from something like the raid. I can't imagine the hard-work and rehearsal that went into this. It's like a more brutal version of Ninja 2 with Scott Adkins. The only complaint I have is that the scene with Navin and Wie connecting in prison could have been done earlier rather than at the end so it doesn't feel like they are speed-running through emotional beats, and they could have let some of the other emotional beats in general play out a bit longer 🤔. Other than that yeah 10/10 😎.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but the actor that played the main bad dude here was also in season 3 of Alice in Borderlands. He played the dude that was there with his sister. Now I feel like they under utilized him there lol

1:06:29 okay so it isnt Ai thankfully but the weird thing and the only bad thing about this movie is that for some reason they added dubbing. Even tho they are speaking English already. That is why the syncing on some of the dialogue is a bit off. I have no idea why they added English dubbing.
